After what she was like in the previous episode I hope not. I'm really liking this season! The one episode that I felt was the worst is actually the Robots in Sherwood one

Really? That's hilarious because that's my favourite episode of this series!

Wow, you really don't like her, do you? :P

I keep saying that to every episode, lately ... :D

From the new series, tennant is my favorite doctor and when I first heard about Capaldi, I was a bit wary. But this darker character adds spice to the story and reminds me of the older series. I like how every doctor is different and how clara deals with these essential changes from smith to capaldi. And how *she* changes because of that.

So who do you think is Missy? :D

Hot. ;D

Oh, um, I dunno, but her character seems awesome!

I liked yesterday's episode. Certainly one of the best of the series so far. The countdown clock at the corner of the screen was a fantastic idea on Moffat's part. The general concept of the mummy made the episode a good one.

At first I thought I didn't like Capaldi as the Doctor, but over time I've come to realize it isn't him--it's Clara. Maybe she's been this way since the beginning of her full-time run with Matt Smith, but all this season Clara has done nothing other than be incredibly selfish, to the point where I'm anticipating the character's ultimate departure. Worse, she seems to be rubbing off on Pink, who I initially liked. :sceptic:

It's the same thing that put me off of Rose, actually--she was incredibly self-absorbed as well. Clara's behavior is worse, though, considering that both times we saw her prior to meeting Smith, she showed herself to be both tenacious and selfless; in Asylum of the Daleks she courageously sacrificed herself to save the Doctor, Amy, and Rory, while in her first Christmas special she showed herself to be incredibly caring towards the children she was responsible for--she earned those children's tears at her death. Heck, she allowed herself to be torn apart and scattered across space and time in order to save the Doctor and the universe--you don't get much more selfless than that. This season, we've seen her be compassionate and selfless towards exactly one person: young Danny Pink. Since then, nada, along with being incredibly entitled about traveling through space and time--not everyone gets to do that, you know. Pretty much every other companion in the new series has pretty quickly figured out that the inconvenience/disruption to social life comes with the territory when you're a companion of the Doctor--and the worst part is, Clara should know this already from her time with Smith's Doctor. :sceptic:

Like I said, glad she's not in the next episode, and looking forward to a change of heart or a change of companion--or both. There doesn't seem to be much to explore with her, anyway--time to bring in a companion that's interesting again. (Maybe bring back Jack Harkness for a bit? :sweet: )

I've never was crazy about Clara as a companion from the start. I don't think she is a good balance for the Doctor, her personality seems to be lacking. She seems to blend into the background at times where other companions have had strong distinctive personalities. Capaldi seems to be towering over her and not being challenged in a way one would expect.

I was a little wary of Capaldi at first and wasn't sure after the first episode if I would like him. Now I think he great and seem to quickly crafted his doctor persona. Plus he is a nice change from smith who I was never a big fan of as Tennet is still my favorite.

I do believe this is Clara's last season so hopefully we get someone who better suits and balances the dark nature of the new doctor.

Some of my thoughts...

Season 1 was not that good. Eccleston was a fine Doctor, but they put him in a lot of bizarre stories that I for some reason couldn't get into. Most of the earlier ones were good, (except for "Rose") but as the season went on they just got weirder and weirder.

The Tennant years were good in general, with only a few bad episodes here and there. He had a fairly good run, I think.

For me, the show really got good at Season 5. The Eleventh Hour was the perfect way to introduce the 11th Doctor, (even if the next few episodes were lackluster) and remains one of my favorite episodes of the show. And Season 6 was a great story. Most of my favorite episodes came from the first half of Season 7 (before Amy and Rory left). Those were just a lot of fun (though the constant foreshadowing of Amy and Rory leaving was annoying).

The last Season with Smith was not good. It almost felt like they wanted to get us sick of him so we wouldn't mind it when they got rid of him. Clara's story was interesting, but the episodes they set them in were generally not good. A few good ones (The one where they went to the center of the TARDIS, the finale and the premiere were pretty good.) but in general, it was just not good.

The 50th Anniversary Special was good... Until they decided to reverse the Time War... I mean that was just dumb... It would've been so... I can't think of the word, but seeing the three Doctors make their biggest mistake, two of which we know and love, would have been just unforgettable. It would've been a perfect way to celebrate 50 years. The idea that the Daleks would just keep shooting even when the planet was gone, and that somehow they'd all hit each other and destroy themselves... What? Oh well, it was still pretty entertaining.

And then Smith's final episode was... A bit boring. Really didn't care much for it. I mean we all knew he wasn't going to die. There was no tension, It was just... Boring.

I've only seen the first few episodes of this years season (up to Robots of Sherwood). I don't really know what to think of the new Doctor. He plays the part well, and is quite likeable, and is definitely a good fit, but there's something about him that seems... Inconsistent? He seems different from one minute to the next... Might just be me (or it could have to do with the fact that I can't tell what his accent is. Sometimes it sounds more English, sometimes it sounds more Scottish... I really don't know). I'll have to watch a bit more to be sure on my opinion...

Overall, good show. I've considered looking into the old series, but I just don't have that much time to dedicate to it.

I'm not sure myself about the new Doctor, I believe where eight episodes in, and from my memory, the first eight of Eccelston's, Tennent's, and Smith's where all, in my opinion, better than some of those aired so far (though I did love Listen). Still, I'm going to give the guy time.

One more thing, after watching the last episode, I'm getting more and more convinced this regeneration is what the Valeyard originated from.

EDIT:

In addition, I thought tonight's episode was fantastic, my guess as to who the woman is at the end of most episodes?

(don't read on if you don't want to find out)

Spoilers alert!

Another fantastic episode yesterday. I'm rather enjoying Jamie Mathieson's scripts. The shrinking Tardis was done very well.

Aa for the season finale, we know a group known as 3W is involved somehow and we know UNIT and the cybermen are returning, and the Doctor will have to make a hard choice... Still we'll find out more in the coming weeks.

Doctor Who is now made for the masses like Transformers. What this means is a great loss of quality traded for appeal. Doctor Who officially sucks now :P. The stories are more ridiculous and stupider than ever.

Lets shoot this solid gold arrow a few miles up! Save the world with gold power!

Lets stop a countdown with a huge flip! I now know how to confuse countdown clocks!

Oh dear God how are people not seeing how incredibly bad this is?! HOW!? They've Transformered the series! Doctor Who never made the most sense (or any :P) but now it's just sunk so much lower than I ever thought possible!

To be fair, the last 2 episodes have been fairly decent

Maybe by watching it :sceptic::hmpf_bad:.

Each episode this series had had at least one facepalm moment in it (except for the last two), but over all the quality has been great.

You don't like it, dig out the DVD versions of the ones you do and go watch them.

Also:

The stories are more ridiculous and stupider than ever.

You're going to need a hell of a lot of evidence to back that one up , do you even remember all the River Song plot lines? Ever seen The Underwater Menace? What about The Twin Dilemma?

IS there anything you haven't got angry about recently?

Debating is useless online. I'm just going to spew my opinion like others. It's bad. Shows shouldn't have face palm moments and they shouldn't be this common. And I'm not angry. I just don't like things that are terribly made.

The only moment in this series I've facepalmed was the arrow scene (woulda facepalmed at the cartoonish sound in the beginning of Deep Breath had I not found it incredibly hilarious). What were the moments in other episodes?

That was an interesting episode. It was good to see a change of writer, and I hope Cottryce Boyle continues to write more scripts for future series.

The thing that made this story stand out from the crowd was the fact it was new, original and different. My only criticism is that I felt there was a lack of threat and climax and I would have liked to see this episode as two stories.

Meh. I'm glad it fit in one. Two would've felt liked it dragged on.

That had to be the most thrilling 45 minutes! We finally get to who Missy is. I won't say in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. I can't wait to see next weeks episode.
