Posted May 30, 20159 yr As promised last week, here are a few shots of the SSD Executor I MOC'd back in 2011/12. I started with the 'Starship Battles' game model as my reference point and after creating the frame work, after a few months had an 80% completed model. However, something just didn't look right to me so I researched more thoroughly and after finding photographs of the origninal movie model, set about redesigning the back end (and all associated sub frame etc.) I had tried to get it ready (on request) for a Lego Space display at the Leicester Space Centre, in July of 2011, but was faced with too much work to be done and an increased workload at work, so the ship didn't get close to completion until early 2012. Sadly, funds were running low, and I was being pressured (by a somewhat unsupportive and unsympathetic spouse) to finish it and clear it away, so didn't spend as much time on engine detail as I would have liked to. May 30, 20159 yr Thanks NNOPMOC, it's most impressive! I never get tired of looking at MOC Executors, it just shows how good the official UCS version could have been! Do you have any photos of the underside and engines? If you don't mind me asking did you sell this on Ebay a couple of years ago, I seem to recall seeing something very similar?

No glue or rubber bands (or sellotape). The underside and engines were not quite as detailed as I would have liked, due to lack of finances and a need to get it finished, but also, practically, it's not the sort of thing you can pick up and "zoom" around (not that I didn't try - successfully ) so underside detail seemed a little less important. Not bad for a first MOC (if you don't count my MF when I was 11). Yes, Lobot, I did sell it on eBay. To someone in Scotland, as I recall. I never did hear if they managed to build it okay. Since then a doctor in the US (friend of a close friend) has asked if I will build another one for her husband. I'm going to try and design it on LDD first . . . probably Lego Fett, I used some dark grey behind the greebling, to give it the impression of more depth, but other than that I wasn't sure where to place it so stayed with a light grey exterior. Again, this is something I will revisit on the 'next' one. Time constraints also prevented me from building a few, in scale, Star Destroyers. That will also be remedied next time. Not likely to happen until next year though, because of all the other MOC projects I have in the pipeline. Thanks everyone for your supportive comments.
January 3, 20169 yr NNOPMOC, just wanted to check on your LDD progress so far. I LOVE the 13' SSD that Fox Hound designed, but I feel the lack of modularity and the fact that it has never actually been built put it outside my desired risk threshold. Your 7' model is much more feasible, if you can say that. So I just wanted to see if you've started your redesign yet. :)
