BrickSev Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hello fellow AFOLs and Star Wars fans, I recently built my first MOC since I came back to the hobby after a very long absence I really like the Shadow Trooper Minifugures and so I decided to build a larger, hopefully improved , version of the speeder from the battle pack. I used mostly the parts from two battle packs but of course I had to use additional parts to ensure the "structural integrity". I also added few non structural parts like the antennas and forward blaster cannons. I don't have many parts available right now and it was not easy to find the parts I need and I had to work with the limited pieces I had but at least I can confirm the speeder is sturdy enough to be even used for play I named the speeder "Low Altitude-Infiltration Vehicle" In addition to the image I attached to this post ( I hope I did things right and the image shows up) you can find more detailed (and in higher resolution) images on my blog (link below) "Low Altitude-Infiltration Vehicle" aka LA-IV I know this is a very small and modest project. Nothing compared to the outstanding works I see around the forum but I'm happy to have finally built a MOC after my absence. Comments and feedback are highly appreciated. This is my first MOC in, well, more than 10 years so any advice would really help me, so I can improve. Thank you very much May the Brick be with You Quote
Tariq j Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Really nice work BrickSev, the nodding on the wings looks excellent and you haven't gone overboard either, the balance is great. Quote
BrickSev Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Really nice work BrickSev, the nodding on the wings looks excellent and you haven't gone overboard either, the balance is great. Thank you very much for your words The speeder itself it's not very big (the length it's the "original" one) so I tried to keep things balanced, especially with the wings. I thought larger wings would have greatly unbalanced the vehicle but I wanted to make a different design from the standard speeder so I used the S-foils style. I'm glad to read you find the balance great Thank you again for your comment. This is my first actual MOC so your words mean a lot to me Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Pretty cool! You sure about the name? What about "Shadow X-Wing Transport"? Quote
aeralure Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) Nice work! I like it a lot. You did really well with limited resources. I'm in the same boat, having just returned to Lego myself. I hope I can add something to the boards at some point as well. Welcome back! Edited June 7, 2015 by aeralure Quote
BrickSev Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Pretty cool! You sure about the name? What about "Shadow X-Wing Transport"? Thank you very much Shadow X-Wing Transport sounds cool lol It's not easy to find proper names. I decided to make a little reference to the Republic Gunship and since I thought "Shadow Troopers" should be adept at infiltration I created that name. I wanted to use the "transport" word but it just carries two troopers. If I'll ever make a larger, gunship-like version of it I'll surely put the word transport in the name Nice work! I like it a lot. You did really well with limited resources. I'm in the same boat, having just returned to Lego myself. I hope I can add something to the boards at some point as well. Welcome back! Thank you very much Actually I come back many months ago but this is my first proper MOC Parts availability is indeed a problem. Where I live it's not even very easy to get parts from Bricklink without having to pay a lot for international shipping. I noticed the Microfighters are a nice way to stock up parts. Their cost per piece ratio is good (most of the times) and they also come with a cool Minifigure (a part droid sets, of course) and so are not a bad choice if we need a "fast" way to acquire some additional part for our projects Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Great work! Amazing what you did with the parts available! Quote
BrickSev Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Great work! Amazing what you did with the parts available! Thank you very much I have to say I was quite worried about the lack of parts when I started. The two battle packs have enough parts for the "outer structure", the wings etc but not enough parts to ensure the integrity of the vehicle. Luckily I was able to find the parts I needed and the vehicle is sturdy enough Quote
Balbo Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 That's a great first MOC, BrickSev Especially the way you made the wings is great, particularly considering the fact that have a limited number of bricks available. You're really a talented builder and I hope seeing more of your creations in the future. Brick on! Quote

Thank you very much You are a very skilled builder and so your words mean a lot to me I'm glad you like the wings design. I wanted to make the wings different from the "original" speeder and building larger wings would have unbalanced the vehicle in my opinion so I decided to use the iconic S-foils configuration In the Star Wars universe the S-foils design is used to help with heat dispersion, so I thought it would useful for an "infiltration vehicle" Thank you again for your comment Quote
Doctor Doom Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) That's your first MOC after a long time? I'm surprised. It looks like you were building these MOC's for years without any breaks. If this is your first, your tenth will be incredible! Edited June 10, 2015 by Doctor Doom Quote

If this is your first, your tenth will be incredible! Thank you very much Actually I can say this is my first MOC. I've been away from the hobby since 2005/2006 and at that time I built mostly "standard" set and not proper MOCs Honestly I didn't expect all those positive comments. I'm really so happy to read them and such words mean a lot to me I have still much to do before I can even come close to the skill of the builders I see around here but these comments really motivate me Thank you again Great MOC!Love the wings !Great job! Thank you very much At first I was not sure the S-foil design was a good choice, since we often see it in Starfighters and not speeders but I liked how it looked and I decided to use that design It's always a pleasure to read such positive comments Quote
