So here's the trailer for this movie

<youtube>

Meet Red. Red is an outsider who was laughed at by girls in school, and is later ignored by the lady birds. So, he has developed serious anger issues- so much so that he uses a very small kid as a football in the very first scene. Wait, what? It's a cartoon, it's cartoon violence, no really it's funny! Don't over think it!

There is a pink bird which is of course female. Maybe she turns out to be a brain surgeon in the movie, there is no way to tell. The birds look like they could use a brain surgeon...A group of pigs arrives,(insert mooning gag here) and steals all their eggs.

Red to the rescue with two bros, gross saliva joke, grosser piss joke. The End.

I don't know, there are probably millions of 10 year old boys out there who think this the funniest thing ever, and that is what they are aiming at. Pixar it isn't. I think Lego has gambled on the wrong horse here- The audience is too limited. The audience of people who enjoyed the game in the past is very large, but it's too late, and also the characters do not look like the video game birds and pigs.

It's a shame, because their sets aren't so bad. Looks like the castle will work fine without the birds, the pig town is all right, the ship seems a little crude. Hope this does not turn into the next Lone Ranger. (these sets can still be found in some shops here)

I would agree with your post - Angry Birds was a thing a few years back, but now not so much. One set would have been sufficient, but Lego might have made too much.

The sets look alright but given they are modeling them directly off the movie I honestly don't see myself buying these unless they have some unique parts and even then I'll probably Bricklink them instead.

Discussion of the film belongs in Culture & Multimedia. Disliking the look of the movie, predicting how badly it will do - those things aren't really related to the LEGO sets themselves.

There can be great sets from sub-par films (PoP, Lone Ranger, etc.) and subpar sets from good films (Jurassic World, IMO). So please, let's just keep this to the sets.

My bad. I edited that part out of my comment.

Has anyone made any off brand Lego Angry Birds Figures that are like the original game?

Yes, the Lone Ranger had some great sets. I would definitely buy that awesome stage coach if I saw it anywhere for sale. But the ones I keep seeing offered for sale are 79107 the Comanche Camp, which is odd, as this is a fairly cheap set and 79110 Silver Mine Shootout, which is a fairly expensive set. Also, I have seen the Cavalry Builder set in a Euro store- but not for an Euro, for the full price. didn't buy.

The point is- I have no clue what is going to sell or not. But I think there is some degree of disconnection between the licensed media, and the Lego sets. A good set is a good set and people will buy it.

And the lineup presented for Angry Birds worries me because the castle is good, but expensive. The pig town is funny, but the one thing people keep mentioning is how cool the new hot-dog part is. If that is the most memorable and noticeable thing about the whole set, well that is a little worrying. This new part is nice but it can be re-used and almost certainly will be re-used in cheaper sets.

The ship looks under detailed and kind of unfinished.

the cheaper sets look generic.

The figures focus strongly on Red, who gets several versions. After seeing the trailer, I can only think of him as a deeply unlikable character.

So this whole product line worries me. It's already for sale at several web outlets, by the way. I hope I'm wrong. I like Lego. I want them to succeed :D

Nobody seems to want to post here.

The sets have been available in the UK only since March 1st.

Us USA people have to wait until April. :hmpf_bad:

Was reading an article that some of these sets come with a new 1x1 dome piece?

There is an egg piece that has a negative stud connection. That could be misconstrued as a 1x1 dome piece. Or it could be the ice cream piece that is getting described, but that has been out for a while now. Neither Bricklink or Brickset have parts listings yet.

I hope that I can get my hands on 75825 Piggy Pirate Ship for a decent price. It would go together nicely with the Ninjago Skybound theme. Yarrrr! :pir-grin:

This guy has some great stopmotion reviews of 75824 and 75825:

I was just at the Lego store in Austin. No Angry Birds sets

Brick Builder also has stopmotion reviews of four of the sets, including the castle. https://www.youtube....uilder23/videos

It's nice to see many printed bricks; the TNT tiles, a shield and the 1x4 tiles with plank printing in particular, just to name a few :sweet:

edit: Also, hollow studs in pearl gold!

Are the release dates for continental Europe known?

Too bad the Piggy Pirate Ship is 74.99 euros... Me and my wallet are probably waiting till the end of the year for a fair discount. On another note, the insides of this set might hold a new record in terms of the amount of different (bright) colours used, which isn't really a good thing, imo :look:

In Finland these have been out from beginning of this month.

They've been out in Norway from 1st March too... a local shop has them all... although I did not notice them at first because the white on the packaging did not stand out as looking legoish.
