N_Cat Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Well at least it looks like the source material and isn't something that doesn't even exist. A valid point. But my question is- and I'm honestly not sure about this- did they have to make the Avenjet? Could they have chosen a better looking vehicle, or was it demanded that they make it? They haven't been very faithful to the Avengers Assemble cartoon before this wave, and all the previous sets in the sub-theme looked more like straight comic adaptations. Do Disney and Marvel require specific toys for this line, or do the designers have some freedom? Quote

Do Disney and Marvel require specific toys for this line, or do the designers have some freedom? I'm sure the product tested very well with the children resulting in Lego mass producing this set. Keep in mind that the set is made from a cartoon and if anything, Thanos was an added bonus for AFOLs and kids alike! Quote
Ultron Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I think Avenjet might be worst superhero line set ever. I mean even 2013 Ultimate showdown wasn't as bad as this one! Still better than that terrible spider-copter set. At least the figs in this are good; that's the saving grace. But if I'm going to be honest, I was only ever going to be buying the set for them anyway. My superhero display doesn't have room for ANOTHER jet. Quote

For me it's been mainly about the figs for a long while now, but since the beginning of this year I actually started skipping entire sets Unless the sets themselves were really cool, like the Hulkbuster and Avengers Tower) and just purchase minifigs of my liking seperately on BrickLink Not too sure whether I'll do that for the Submarine Attack, the submarine actually looks pretty cool Regards, Mitch Quote
Only Sinner Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Yeah, I kind of like the submarine, too. The Avenjet is not really that bad, because it actually sort of resembles the one from the show if only at a much too small scale. Looks like maybe a Stark strikefighter prototype design or something. At any rate, both sets are ugly, sure, but that should not detract from their coolness or desirability and even of you absoloutely hate the designs, the figs are too good to pass up. Quote
Marvelfan120 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) Need I remind anyone of this? The Avenjet might not be the sleekest thing, but it's a far cry from 'worst Superhero set design.' Yeah, no doubt, Lego has done a lot worse... at least the avenjet set is consistent with the source material!!! Edited December 4, 2015 by Marvelfan120 Quote
NXS7 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Don't even want to count how many comments are based around ranting about how "oh the Avenjet looks so bad, only gonna get the minifigures" or "the sub is barely worth getting" Quote
getbusybrickin Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I actually quite enjoy the Avenjet; sure it isn't the greatest set ever released but it seems fun for children - the intended audience- and it boasts great figures. Lego isn't only pandering to AFOLs and older kids, even though I believe it's still a good set for that audience. Quote

I have four jets, plus the DC Javelin and Tower of Orthanc in a nice fleet display. And no, NO room for another jet. I know what you're getting at! Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I called it, Hyperion does indeed have 2016 supes face. That cape looks amazing close up. Thanos has light blue eyes and indeed has a creepy smile. Hydra goon in skull sub has a new face, I'm starting to like that sub seeing different views of it. Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I called it, Hyperion does indeed have 2016 supes face. Well, a discount Superman wouldn't be a discount Superman without stealing his face! Quote
BricksrDamian2 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 The Good thing about the quinjet are the figs! Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) The only thing we know about the $35 CW set, is the panther jet? Do we know anything else about that set? Edited December 5, 2015 by amazingbricks Quote

CF Mitch Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Whoah, thanks for the link! Great close-ups indeed! That Gemini Armoooorrr However, based on this HQ material I decided to skip on the submarine after all. It's not just a matter of liking or disliking the designs (in all honesty the Avenjet doesn't look bad either, just not my taste, and I have no idea about source material but I trust judgement of those who do know) but I really don't have a lot of room for vehicles and such anymore. Maybe when I finally have my own place Regards, Mitch Quote
Quicksilver Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) The only thing we know about the $35 CW set, is the panther jet? Do we know anything else about that set? Black Panther comes in the Panther Jet and I thought someone said it has 3 other figures in it. And that's all we know. Also, it was said Winter Soldier was in 2 Civil War sets, and we know the entire figure line up for the $20 set, so (presumably) he's probably in the Panther Jet. Also, is the Airport set still $49.99? I thought it said in the catalogue (that showed the box sizes) that the Euro price was significantly high for a $50USD set. Quicksilver Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Wait? where have you heard it contains 3 other figures? I thought someone said it on here, although I could be wrong Also, the Iron Skull Sub Attack is in the same price range ($30-$40) as the Panther Jet and the Sub has 4 figures. So it would look weird to have 2 similarly priced sets with different Minifigure counts. Edited December 5, 2015 by Quicksilver Quote
Winter Soldier Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Just watched episode 3 of the Avengers Reassembled, there is a scene where Hawkeye shoots an arrow where Ant Man is standing on! Here is link if you want to see it too. Edited December 5, 2015 by Winter Soldier Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 So, in J2G's Marvel 2016 Thoughts video, he said that along with the Doctor Strange sets, we're getting Ultimate Spiderman sets in the summer wave? Can anyone confirm and/or elaborate on this? Quote

Can anyone confirm and/or elaborate on this? Everything we know is in the first post. Sir Gareth confirmed a Dr. Strange set comes out in the Summer/Fall. I don't think we have any info on USM sets thus far, but it is very likely we get a few due to the character's popularity. Quote
