deskp Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 lego should maybe have made a new LEGO SPIDEY, instead of using the one from the animated show as the generic one. Quote
linnormlord Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Lego is really cheap with that double molded legs for spidey. Sure it's a reason for people to buy that crappy Rhino set, which will probably be retired soon enough. But I think more than anything it's Lego disrespecting us their buyers. I mean Spider-man minifig isn't that great, and these legs make him that much better. Like people on this forum mentioned Batman has a ton of versions and it seems like he gets 1or 2 new versions every year, while Spidey has 2 (2004 and current comic version). And while Lego had huge profits last year they still can't give us something as simple as either these legs in 100$(Which is a premium price for many people) or new version of Spidey. Unbelievable! If that doesn't say corporate greed, I don't know what does. Rant over. To be fair, Iron Man is Lego's Marvel version of Batman. We have gotten many versions with 2 or more a year. They clearly don't see Spidey that way, and I think Disney's control over Marvel merchandising has something to do with it. Don't forget about another Spidey variant in wide release, Spidey with RED HIPS in the juniors sets! We have had a total of 9 PP Spider-Man variants plus a Duplo Fig. I think the blue printed on red versions look awful. We have (or will have) had 3 additional "Spider-Persons" for a total of 12. How could they actually make a "better" Spider-Man? Edited May 5, 2016 by linnormlord Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 The times where we got new variations of spidey, they were Comic Con exclusives. It's really disappointing with the lack of spideys. Quote
MarvelWarrior Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Dont know if this means anything but a marvel legends 3 pack is coming with mcu spidey in August: maybe that's when we see the lego cw set? Quote
retrotaco Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Yeah, Iron Man has DEFINITELY supplanted Spider-Man for Marvel in the past decade or so. Kids these days know and care more about Iron Man (at least from what I could tell during my times working at summer camps and extended days) than they do Spider-Man. Quote
Captain Britain Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I say it doesn't matter, until we know for sure. Be patient. Completely agree. We'll all log on one day and BAM! It'll be here in all it's glory. Until then though.. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I can't imagine a Spider-Man minifig looking any better than the one we got, especially one that's just a general Spidey and not based on a certain incarnation. I'd love to see what you guys think would make a better one, though. Quote

Leg and arm molding with web printing would be amazing too. Quote

I do like the Spidey we've currently got but he's not fantastic.. and now pretty boring with us getting multiple of him every wave. I mean that's 3 in the summer sets, plus the same again in the Venom polybag. I think I'll use one to make an unmasked Spidey though whilst I've got many spare! Quote

wesleydoogan Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 So anyone with a spare Silver Centurion care to trade for a '66 Mr Freeze? Quote

Oh, I mean, for the MCU Spidey, yeah, they need to do new prints for that. That's different. The SDCC Spider-Man is pretty good, but mostly just for ASM2 Spider-Man. I prefer the bright colors, the web printing is pretty good and the head doesn't need all that much detail. We definitely need boots to be more consistent, and the red torso would be nice, but otherwise, I don't see it as such a problem. More variants are certainly welcome, though. Quote
linnormlord Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Black costume spidey would be nice too, and that was also a SDCC exclusive. Same torso as Venom, so should be easy to recreate, but that head though ... Quote
DarkKnight7 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 It'll be interesting to see if they announce a 4th set within the next week or so of the film releasing. How solid a rumor is this? Also, am loving that Bridge Spidey set, just wish I had the dough to buy it. Will have to suffice to Bricklink some of the figs (Spider Woman, Scarlet Spidey, Scorpion, Green Goblin) Quote
Borex Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Spidey needs printing on his sleeves and on his dualmoulded legs. lego could try to develop an allround print for his head as well. That would be awesome. I'd like to see a battledamaged version of him too. That would be sweet. But what i hope for the most is that they continue the great sets they giving us this year. Quote

Crazy that we haven't seen it in a set yet. Quote

Crazy that we haven't seen it in a set yet. I like the comment someone made a while back. The venom polybag is taunting us with lots of extra Venom heads, when what we really want is that Spidey head. Quote
NXS7 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Just thinking, if LEGO gave us an Agent Venom figure, we could use that head for a Symbiote Spider Man Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 The inconsistency with the dual-molded legs really bothers me. It's like LEGO is saying to their customers, "Can't afford our best sets/don't want our crappy *cough* Rhino Construction Site *cough* sets? Too bad, incomplete minifigure for you! Quote
Falconfan1414 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) lego doesn't want us buying the Spider-Man sets for Spider-Man. They want us buying the sets because of the new characters and builds coming with it. The Spider-Man they most likely want us to buy is the civil war Spider-Man so they just re-used old molds Edited May 5, 2016 by Falconfan1414 Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 There's pictures of the upcoming action figures of mcu spidey, this means toy companies are getting comfortable showing their products. Lego should be soon. Quote
