vstat05 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 All has been said about this set, but I'm getting extra Dr. Strange heads for Kraven and Zod. Quote
benderisgreat Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Now that's a nice set! A lot of cool new pieces, neat build and awesome minifigures. Love that Doctor Strange has new head, knowing how much Lego loves reusing old heads I was sure they will reuse Tony Starks head. Mordo and Ancient One look good as well. So overall a great year for Marvel Superheroes theme: Airport Battle, Bridge, Tanker Takedown and now Doctor Strange set! Edited June 7, 2016 by benderisgreat Quote
Borex Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Is that supposed to be the ancient one? Why are a.o. and baron mordo so different from their comicbook appearances? The mcu is strange sometimes Quote
Foxes Productionz Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 For anyone disappointed with the look of the minifigures, I assume we just blame concept art. Quote
N_Cat Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Huh. I'm glad we got a location-based set, but this isn't doing it for me yet. It's too pedestrian; it look like someone's living room. If I get it, I'll be MOCing it to make the walls something other than uniform beige, and I'll be angling the Seal so it looks more like a skylight and less like a window. But that's the beauty of Lego, right? If something's not to our liking, we can usually fix it ourselves! None of the figures are grabbing me right now, either, but that might change with the movie. Kraby Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I love this set. But while I knew it would be very hard to pull off, I must say I'm a tiny bit disappointed by the window. Quote
kevkipo Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Amazing set, i love it! I really didn't expect those trans pieces to be printed, and it includes 2 of those trans holder thingy's! Awesome! Quote
wesker Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Can't wait to pick this up. Doctor Strange looks awesome and the set itself is a fantastic display piece for the price range. Hopefully it sells well and we see more Superheroes sets like this in the future. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I really like this set! It has a nice aesthetic feel to it and looks pretty cool with all the various trinkets, books, letters and pieces on the shelves and on the floor. The minifigures look good for the most part - not really a fan of Strange as I don't feel like he looks as close to Benedict Cumberbatch as he could, but that said, being a Comic Version I can let it off. Should be a very cool set. Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 The more I look at it, the grander I think the window looks! It is so perfect to me. Quote
wesleydoogan Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 This looks amazing. Does anyone know when it and the 4th Civil War Set are being released? And also will there be any more DC sets released this year other than Scarecrow, Bat Tank and Rah's Al Gul? Quote
Legocity2713 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 All has been said about this set, but I'm getting extra Dr. Strange heads for Kraven and Zod. Ooh Zod is a good idea too. This set has a lot more too it than meets the eye. Btw, if anyone in Lego is listening... We love location based sets that are still detailed and in decent price point. Keep 'em coming! ;) Quote
Foxes Productionz Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Does anyone know if the window peice is new? And if it isn't new does anyone know if it's just one peice, it sure looks that way too me? Quote
Borex Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Does anyone know if the window peice is new? And if it isn't new does anyone know if it's just one peice, it sure looks that way too me? It's made with bionacle blades or ninjago and such. It's not just one piece. It is cleverly done, just like the shuma-gorath. Quote
Exetrius Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Man... what a fantastic set!!! I have never bought a Superheroes set, but this even got me thinking about getting two! I love how complete the scene is, with artifacts, bookshelves, maps scattered across the floor, the table with candles; so much detailing! The figs and their accessories are absolutely top-notch in my opinion! Doctor Strange's magic is awesome and all of the designs seem very re-usable for yellow-skin figs. I AM SOOOO DIGGING THIS!!! EDIT: What colour are those fans even!? Trans-white-glitter-gold, idk?? Looks bloody fabulous! Does anyone know if the window peice is new? And if it isn't new does anyone know if it's just one peice, it sure looks that way too me? I believe the black framework is just a combo of existing arch elements. the silver part are four large katana blades, introduced in a 76000, very npu by the designer! AnnaBuildsLego Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Hmm, now there's an interesting set! I'm not really into Marvel as much as DC, but this really is a rather unique set and the Marvel line is absolutely killing it right now! It makes me really wish DC got some decent location sets like this! PROS: - Man, look at all those accessories. Keys, chains, jewels, a crystal, letters, tons of maps/scrolls, a bottle, a skull, some brick-built candles! Also, hand-held fans, and those Doctor Strange magic pieces could look great re-used as super fancy lamp shades. Awesome. - I love the big window. Looks accordingly grand and imposing. - A weird Lego tentacle monster, for all your tentacle monster needs. - No shoehorned-in vehicles! -Some cool prints on the minifigs. Great to get another unique black skin-toned minifig in particular, it's nice to see more and more representation for different races in Lego. CONS: - For some reason, I don't see kids being particularly excited by this set. It doesn't look like it'll have a whole lot of play value for them (aside from the big ugly lever sticking out of the wall and the tentacle monster probably being able to turn and swish around). It reminds me very much of a MOC diorama rather than an actual set, which is surprising and cool for adult fans, but I wonder if kids will like it as much. I would not be surprised at all if this goes the way of the Ant-Man set, so buy this while it's out there. - Looks like that big slanted piece is stickered. - The Ancient One looks terrible to me. Overall, neat set! Edited June 7, 2016 by AnnaBuildsLego Quote
Butterfingers27 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I would hazard a guess that, given the context of the build and what has been revealed via set photos and the initial trailer, that the third figure is Wong and not The Ancient One. Quote
Khscarymovie4 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 This set is everything I wanted it to be! Love all 3 of the minifigures. The build is great in my opinion. I love location sets. This is definitely going to be in my top 4 Marvel sets of the year along with The Tanker Truck Showdown, Airport Battle, and Bridge set. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I think the set looks great! So happy it's a location based set and not something like some made up Dr. Strange mech or copter... On another note, I was somewhat surprised to find a stack of Ant-Man sets at a local shop, thought they were long gone! Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 This looks amazing. Does anyone know when it and the 4th Civil War Set are being released? August Quote
mediumsnowman Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 On another note, I was somewhat surprised to find a stack of Ant-Man sets at a local shop, thought they were long gone! Wanna sell me one? Quote
Darkslayer Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) That Dr Strange set is heading to my buy list!. Still need to grab the Airport Battle and Tanker Truck (when it releases). 3 great location sets this year for Marvel! Edited June 7, 2016 by Darkslayer Quote
linnormlord Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Purple and yellow are traditional comic book colors for the Ancient One (as google image search tells me), but not for Wong. I think that explains the color scheme. Quote
Butterfingers27 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Purple and yellow are traditional comic book colors for the Ancient One (as google image search tells me), but not for Wong. I think that explains the color scheme. If it's a comic accurate set, I could see that. But, it's an MCU based set, which lends it to being Wong. Or, they could have Hank Pym and the Mandarin's Fire Buggy show up. Quote
