kevkipo Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Figures look awesome! Set as well! I am changing the hair on Stephen though. Quote
Captain Britain Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Damn this set looks awesome! Can't wait to pick it up. Interested to see how some people MOC it and build the window up a bit higher and tilt it. Thanks! I cannot wait to buy this. It look like Mordo's face will work for Black Panther. Agreed! Would make a great unmasked Black Panther. Will have to pick up a second head/hair for sure. Quote
Aethersprite Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 The DS set looks like an excellent display piece! It might just be my favourite Marvel set this year. Can't wait for it to be released. Quote
Alonzo Brickovsky Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 After this year's Marvel, I only want more... I didn't like them all, but there was clearly no faux pas like 2015's 76037 for example. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Here's Captain Marvel with the new GB hair. I actually really dig that. Can't bring myself to disfigure (heh) the only LEGO Holtzmann I'll probably ever have, though :/ Conflicting faves, why must you do this to me?? So many really nice details in there! It almost feels more like an Ideas set. Hey, wait, is the Eye of Agamotto silver here?? And what's that lever on the wall for? Figures look awesome! Set as well! I am changing the hair on Stephen though. Really? Why? That hair is so precisely Doctor Strange's hair! I guess some of the promo shots make it look a bit floppier, but it looks a lot more like that, a lot more traditional, in the set photos. Quote

I know, it is very comic accurate, but he kind of has some waviness in the set photo, so i'd take the Super hair. Quote
benderisgreat Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) Wow this is one of the best Marvel Superheroes sets ever! Diorama, good minifigs and some interesting and rare pieces. Edited June 22, 2016 by benderisgreat Quote

Interested to see how some people MOC it and build the window up a bit higher and tilt it. Me too. The window is a little off-putting for me but I can't put my finger on why. I also kind of prefer it with the city scape in the back like they show on the box. This may be one of the only times a paper piece would be useful in a set. That said, the monster is phenomenal! The printing on the figures and their accessories is so well done and unexpected and I really love all the trinkets and bookcases and such. The "magician's top hat" is a really funny addition. Quote
agoodfella77 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Excellent set, $30 is worth it Totally worth it. Can't wait. Stephen's head looks amazing. Quote
Captain Britain Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Is this out August 1st along with 4th Civil War one? Quote
Exetrius Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 This is truly an absurd set, and I love it. I have no idea what the source material is about, but I really like this irrational and trippy set. Good job LEGO, I fully hope you make more absurd, irrational and trippy sets based off franchises I don't know about. I truly like them. Don't think that I can express my thoughts about this set better than this! I am picking this one up for sure! Excellent for display, play or just the parts. I'm loving the traditional styling on.. eh.. green guy. Quote

N_Cat Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 It's weird how much better Lego has treated Marvel over DC this year. Ignoring Micros and polybags completely for this discussion, they've given Marvel 10 sets and DC 8. From those sets, Marvel's price-per-piece average is way, way better than DC's: 9.69¢ vs 11.49¢. Marvel's price-per-figure average is also better than DC's: $9.40 vs $10.45, even once you exclude the outlier of the terribly priced Batcave ($30/figure for the set, and it made DC's average $12.89/fig). Also, Marvel's sets were skewed smaller this year than DC's: median $30 vs median $50. From a figure-buying perspective, small sets are better deals, and they also allow you to choose with more discrimination which particular figures you want, while big sets force you to get all the figures in said set, and they're generally a worse deal to boot. In terms of set and figure quality, it's more subjective, but on Eurobricks, Marvel's large flagship sets this year (Airport Battle and Bridge Battle) have been far better received than DC's (Classic Batcave and Killer Croc Sewer Smash), and I personally think Marvel's figure selection has been better than DC's this year. Marvel got 17 named characters who are completely, 100%, new to Lego, and not just variations, updates, or alternate universe versions, while DC only got 8 characters who fit that description. EDIT: Having re-looked through past years, I guess the trend isn't new. In 2015, Marvel got 10 sets, and DC got 7, and in 2014, Marvel got 9 sets, while DC got 5. I'm not sure about the whole trend, but I'm certain the number of sets is related to the fact that the MCU has been underway. Looking ahead, I don't see a year where DC has more merchandisable films than Marvel, so I'm guessing this trend will continue. Quote
Ultron Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Could it have some correlation to sales maybe? Quote

Legocity2713 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 How does the mechanism with the trans rods work? I'm sure there is some piece in the back stopping the rod from going forward, but the gap seems big enough for the rod to pass through into the Sanctum portion. Anyone have any ideas? Quote

I suspect--even though it looks like it's not connected at all--that the odd knob/bar on the left moves some technic/ball joint assembly on the back to control the rods. Sirius91 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Looks nice. Especially a monster. Unfortunatelly the window could looks better. There might be glass window. Quote
