Yeah, I don't blame you! But a 6-year old kid with a $10/week allowance is going to love these things.

That is a really loaded 6 year old.

Any idea on what peices Lego will use for the MCU Falcon Flight Pack in the Civil War sets? I'm thinking they'll just do what they did for Hawkman's wings in the Javelin, but I'm holding out hope for brick built.

My theory for why the racers have short-legged minifigs:

I'm certain that LEGO's retail partners have been asking for some value-priced Super Heroes sets that contain two minifigures and a small build at a very budget-friendly price point. Walmart in particular exerts a lot of pressure on companies to create special value-priced products for their core customers; Target does as well, but not to the same extent. Being able to advertise Super Heroes LEGO sets in a "great gifts under $10" list is a big deal.

LEGO has pretty much established that Super Heroes sets with two minifigs and a small build cost $13.00. If the Mighty Micros line contained two licensed minifigs and even a tiny build for each, then they'd essentially be devaluing their $13 Super Heroes sets. But, if they include two short-legged minifigs with two tiny builds, then that justifies selling MM sets for $10 and small Super Heroes sets with two full-legged minifigs for $13.

The cost of manufacturing short legs (one piece of ABS) vs. regular legs (three pieces of ABS, plus assembly) also probably factors into it. But even if LEGO *could* afford to include regular legs in MM sets at a $10 price point, it would be crazy to do so from a business perspective, because then the consumer starts to ask, "wait, why is this set only $10 and this one $13, when they both have roughly the same number of parts and minifigures?"

This is a reasonable argument. I still think it would have been better off to either sacrifice a fig (i.e. have 1 full fig vs. 2 shorties)...

The argument that I don't really accept is that kids will somehow go ga-ga over short legs. I have 2 kids and they don't like the short legs -- granted, its a microscopic sample set, but still, I don't see the logic.

I am hoping for a pice or brick built or something. I know they will most likely go with the Hawkman wings but one can still hope right

Falcon looks like this in the new marvel's avengers game. Unfortunately, he's got that common slicked back hair in black. I hope they change it to finn's new hair piece.

From that picture it looks like he has these red wings in a grey color:

we'll see if they use the new Space batman/hawkman wings or the one he used previously

Nice, especially if there're two shades of grey, dark grey with light grey wing tips.

That would make the best falcon figure ever and would most likely put it on the top for best civil war mini figures

I don't think kids will go ga-ga over short legs. I think that LEGO is gambling that they won't hate them like we do. :)

Give Batman short legs and he's blatantly Bat Mite

You joined just to say this? :look:

But I digress. This looks like it'll be a gold mine for cheap figure acquisition. Legs are very rarely anything other than flat colour most of the time anyways, so just swap 'em out! I'm pleased with this news!

Though I don't see how you discerned that from such a tiny picture, I do hope they use that part; even with incorrect colors, it’s still my preferred solution for a purist Falcon. Lego has printed that specific part in the past, so it's not impossible.

However, Lego hasn't made use of this mold lately, even when it would have been highly applicable. Instead, they’ve been opting for a flexible plastic sheet, as with Hawkman, or leaving out the wings altogether, as in the case of the Comic-Con Sam Wilson figure. Regrettable as it may be, any physical MCU Falcon will presumably have wings made of the flexible plastic sheeting, à la Hawkman.

Very interesting... I was going to order parts to make a MOC Civil War Falcon but I think I may hold off and see what the TLG version looks like now.

What if the minifigures of the Racers sets are only shown with their short legs. If they are not in their vehicles you put them on normal legs. If you want to put them into their vehicles, you use the short legs. If this is right, LEGO makes children and AFOL's happy. Problem solved!! ( these are just my thoughts  )

You know what? I've thought of that as well

Well, your opinion is reasonable, but it has a flaw. This year's Carnage set has three unique minifigures with regular legs. Iron Man vs Ultron has four regular minifigures, and once again all of them are unique - and the prize of both sets is $13. I think LEGO is experimenting with their business model. Hence why I hate the decision to give them short legs. It doesn't make sense.

I was thinking that too, but we don't know until we see pictures. Hopefully we'll see pictures from NYCC.

Quite possible, as someone got their hands on an official picture (or part of it), explaining why Brick Heroes had an image of it

Well, if you don't like the idea of short legs ( I don't ) then don't but any racers ( don't think it'll happen ), thus sending Lego a message and giving them poor sales.

But ehhhh, I got plenty of spare legs so bring it on!

Am i the only one that actually just wants to see the CW sets more than the Racers? :snicker: maybe because all of the interesting figs

I do really like Thanos though, so i'm excited for the AA space set. But still not buying it for what i've heard

I want to see the CW and AA sets before the racers but I just want some clarification on the whole leg issue.

Yeah. That's basically the reason... Can't wait for Leg Day!

Yah, I'm not buying that set only for Thanos. I wanna see too the CA:CW sets, but it's highly unlikely that they show them first instead of the Racers and AA sets. Edited by Winter Soldier

That 'wing-part' is not fitting right for a MCU Falcon. I was also thinking that Falcon will have wings of flexible plastic ( so they can print it perfectly and give it the right shape )

I know. It's almost the principle of the thing to me, though; having the rigid, solid plastic pieces feels more like Lego to me. I understand doing capes or sails with alternate materials, but when there's the option, I like the more durable, longer lasting part, even when it comes at the price of movie accuracy. The new wings just feel like a cheap flimsy knock-off to me. Brick built wings could work, though in my experience they fall apart easily.

But I'm not kidding myself. This is just what I want; what I expect, on the other hand, is more of exactly what we've gotten lately.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot I couldn't have an opinion. Would children even want short leg characters? I mean Juniors is basically aimed at children and they have proper legs, so if Racers are aimed at children, why should they be any different.
