IMBATMAN Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) Has anyone played Lego dimensions? How nice is that Zod variant, want him as a minifigure niw Zod is based off of his New 52 version in Lego Dimensions, while the only minifig we have of him is is Man of Steel version. (Should this post be on this thread?) Edited October 1, 2015 by IMBATMAN
Numbuh1Nerd Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Has anyone played Lego dimensions? How nice is that Zod variant, want him as a minifigure niw Just looked that up, and wow is that cool! But aren't most of the things in this game reused assets from previous Lego games? Why would they make an entirely new and less recognizable design for him?

BatZack Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Maybe he was going to be in a Dimensions pack that got canned at the last minute? Not all expansion waves have been announced, perhaps he'll be in a future pack, I hope so his design is so good
Clone OPatra Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 LEGO Dimensions talk does not belong in this thread. If you want to speculate on future minifigures, there's a DC speculation thread for that. Other Dimensions talk goes in Culture & Multimedia.
Winter Soldier Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 A fig that would be appear in a Racers set will be having the same design like they appeared in a Dimensions set ( Bane will be like that ). But a character like Captain Cold will have the design of an earlier set. Bad news, all of them will be remakes...
CM4Sci Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Something regarding the DC Superhero girls was announced today, I think LEGO was mentioned. There weren't any pictures for them in the catalog (didn't get many of the super hero pages) so we'll have to wait and see

"with additional plans for LEGO toys on the horizon."
Amazing Bricks Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Yep, prepare for this in mini doll form:
BluePulse Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Yep, prepare for this in mini doll form: Yeesh, how depressing
TheLegoExperience Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Yeesh, how depressing Why? I think it's great for little girls.
strangely Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Why? I think it's great for little girls. Yeah, but it's also the laziest way they could have done this. They took already established characters and threw them into high school. It's lazy and pandering. I'm glad DC is finally stepping up their game and diversifying, but I expected a little more effort than "Super Hero High." I don't know why they didn't take the Batgirl, Wonder Girl and Supergirl DC Nation shorts and turn that into a series, at least that showed some imagination. I'm interested to see how this translates into Lego form. It really does look like it'll be mini-dolls though. On the plus side we may get a few interesting pieces out of it (The hair pieces they'd create to match those designs might be of some use). Unfortunately the redesigns for these characters seem to mostly be on the crappy side, so I don't expect these will look good even in mini-doll form. But who knows, Lego has surprised me before. Ultron Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Why? I think it's great for little girls. Or they could just have actual sets featuring female characters without making them ultra-feminine and turning them into dolls? The fact that they're doing this proves they know that there's a problem with their regular line but instead of fixing that, they'll make an entirely separate line and continue on with the old where females are very few and very far between.
Winter Soldier Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I hope they are not gonna give those minifigs the design of the Elves and Friends serie. I guess no one of us would buy a set of those... ( If LEGO will make sets of that theme )

This. I think girls love to play with regular lego minifigs but theres just too little feminine characters in the sets nowadays.
8BrickMario Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Ugh. It's too stereotypically "girly", even if superheroes are the main characters. A high school? Really? I'd actually like some of the designs in minifigure form, but if they're minidolls, I won't spend time on it.
Shib Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I get where DC are coming from with this...they are trying to attract in an audience that they have typically been lacking. I'm finding the universe it's set in kind of hard to get on board with, fortunately comic book Multiverse set up means I can completely ignore it and be fine about it. It is generic and dull to our perspective, but from a marketing point of view it does appear to be a safe choice. Basically the cartoon will mean nothing to me, and that's fine, I'm not the audience and not interested in trying to be. If we do get some DC minidoll characters I won't be too bothered, it might provide some useful headgear etc for creating minifigure versions of characters, but really I hope that LEGO continue to increase the range of minifigure characters like they have so far this year (if you had told me three years ago that in one year we would get Hawkman, Starfire, Brainiac, Black Manta, Darkseid and Gorilla Grodd I wouldn't have believed it!)
just2good Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Earliest we'll see sets is Summer 2016- I haven't heard anything, however.
Winter Soldier Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Earliest we'll see sets is Summer 2016- I haven't heard anything, however. So you are 100% sure that LEGO will release sets based on that theme? That sucks...

They're definitely going for a Monster High angle here, and look at how popular that series is. But I swear, if there's a minidoll of Cheetah before we get an actual minifigure... SoupOrFishOil Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 There is something really disturbing about Amanda Waller running a high school. So you are 100% sure that LEGO will release sets based on that theme? That sucks... These are going to be a separate line of sets in the same way that City and Friends are, and City has actually started incorporating more female minifigures since Friends was released. Maybe there is an(other) ethical debate to be had about gendered marketing, but I don't see what is so bad about DC Hero Princess Girls from a collector's perspective.... At the very least, those of us who want a shield for Wonder Woman, better hairpieces for Supergirl and Poison Ivy, or Harley Quinn with dipped blonde pigtails may have a way of getting them.

But I swear, if there's a minidoll of Cheetah before we get an actual minifigure... Or Amanda Waller. I doubt that a minidoll Super Heroes theme from Lego is going to affect the number of female characters we get in the regular theme. And if it does, if anything, it'll lead to more females. It's not like Lego can give us any less.
CM4Sci Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Seems very Equestria Girls-ish. Wonder what the set'll look like. "76054 DC Super Hero Girls Beauty Salon"
