steveholt Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 pretty disappointed with the new 52 designs, why can't they just go classic (boomerang gets a pass though cause he's golden)
InnerRayg Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 If you're a licensing partner for Lego wouldn't you want the sets to promote the current product you are selling?
BritishBrickFan Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 If you're a licensing partner for Lego wouldn't you want the sets to promote the current product you are selling? agreed, not many kids will have even seen the old comic books, so it doesn't make good business sense for Lego to alienate their target market (children, it's a toy after all ) by releasing figures based on characters they haven't seen or heard of before - at least by releasing designs based on New 52, they stand a good chance of building sales, and their licencing partners can get the additional sales from kids wanting to read comics featuring the same characters
Legoman123 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Really happy with the designs of most of these minifigures. I guess the only thing I am slightly disappointed with is the fact that we don't get a removable mask for Red Hood, then again it would probably stick out too much if he did have one.

Ultron Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 If you're a licensing partner for Lego wouldn't you want the sets to promote the current product you are selling? Well a lot of the Marvel figs are classically based so unless DC specifically tells them differently than Marvel does, idk.
JaseTJ Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Is that so hard to believe? Marvel and DC with different marketing strategies? D:
Ultron Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Is that so hard to believe? Marvel and DC with different marketing strategies? D: Well, yeah! I was just trying to say that it's hard to pinpoint how much exactly the companies are involved in minor decisions like that.
8BrickMario Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 DC wants to push their current image, but LEGO does have freedom to choose, hence Cap Cold's classic design. Ironic, though, since the New 52 is now over...I'm guessing the Scarecrow was also LEGO's idea. They wanted to make a witch for S14, but made the hair intentionally strawlike so the mold could be reused again soon for Scarecrow.

Marvelous Spidey Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) Wait, now that the New 52's over, did most characters revert back to their original costumes? New 52 is over in name only. It's possible, but unlikely, they'll revert back to classic costumes soon though, I believe it was Jim Lee who teased "Rebirth" on Twitter which a lot of people are assuming is another reboot (probably a soft reboot). Deathstroke77 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) So, just to clarify, every figure on that list we saw other than Talia and Ra's are in Summer sets? Edited January 30, 2016 by AngelofVengeanceAzrael7
Marvelous Spidey Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Batman and Superman will both return to more normal costumes with their respective 50th issues in a month or two though.
JaseTJ Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) AngelofVengeanceAzreal, you might consider asking that' in the Minifg Customisation Workshop. It's in the section beneath Themes on the main Forum homepage. Edited January 30, 2016 by JaseTJ
Deathstroke77 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Okay, thanks for letting me know JaseTJ
Legoman123 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I am not too sure on Captain Boomerang with his hat on as I was hoping for him with a hair piece. (basically just a copy of Jai Courtney's version in suicide squad)
8BrickMario Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I am not too sure on Captain Boomerang with his hat on as I was hoping for him with a hair piece. (basically just a copy of Jai Courtney's version in suicide squad) LEGO won't do anything based on the film, as it might get objections due to the movie's not-for-kids rating. So they're using the comic equivalents of the Squad to loosely tie into the film.

Deathstroke77 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 They could just call it Task Force X. That's the codename of the Suicide Squad, or at least what the operation is for.
8BrickMario Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) It's not just the name, it's the film, which is not suitable for the majority of LEGO's target audience. Edited January 30, 2016 by 8BrickMario
Soupperson1 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Changing the name wouldn't make it recognizable to kids too.
Bricky Dee Williams Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) LEGO won't do anything based on the film, as it might get objections due to the movie's not-for-kids rating. It's PG-13 ; as is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Lone Ranger, any Marvel movie in the past eight years, Star Wars: Episodes III and VII, Prince of Persia, etc. It's really just the name, I'm sure. The movie is just bad guys going to take out a bad guy, I see no other problem, personally. Besides Harley Quinn's lack of pants..... Edited January 30, 2016 by Aegis2000

Amazing Bricks Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I'm just glad we're getting suicide squad characters, movie variations or not. Lego was very smart including those characters, they did it to please us.

(basically just a copy of Jai Courtney's version in suicide squad) Why would you expect a hair piece - Boomerang's always worn a hat! This is his current comic-book look, nothing to do with the movie (other than the fact Lego have very cleverly given us the Suicide Squad in the new sets)
