Amazing Bricks Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Thanks. Then what is the one in the Darkseid set? That's not a classic comic Green Arrow for sure... Also new 52 green arrow.
Deathstroke77 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I'm surprised Reverse Flash hasn't appeared yet.
Nsk97 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 As long as it isn't a comic based character I am relieved! But given we got a CW arsenal but there are no signs of a comic book arsenal in the foreseeable future this unfortunately may be the only version of Atom Lego makes.

Except Atom is a bigger character than Arsenal. Well, public image-wise. Technically he's quite often smaller.
DuckBricks Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Better him than Reverse Flash. Slightly. I'm in this boat. I've been desperately wanting a RF figure for quite some time now, to the point where I am even attempting to make a custom figure. I'm just glad it's not him that's the exclusive this year.

I'm just glad it's not him that's the exclusive this year. After Batman runs out of villains (Clayface, Mad Hatter, Hush, Hugo Strange, Calculator, Calendar Man, Ten Eyed Man, Prof Pyg, BvS critics, Magpie, Humphrey Dumphrey and Tobias Whale) then maybe we might see a bad guy who isn't a Bat rogue

As much as I love Batman, I'm annoyed that 99% of all villains we get are his villains. The justive league sets a while back with GL vs Sinestro, Aquaman vs Black Manta, and Flash (sort of) vs Gorilla Grodd and Captain Cold were really promising, but it looks like we are back to Batman...
Kizmoz Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I'm in this boat. I've been desperately wanting a RF figure for quite some time now, to the point where I am even attempting to make a custom figure. I'm just glad it's not him that's the exclusive this year. Its one of the reasons for my LEGO Ideas project, in the hope that it would show there's some demand for other things that DC has to offer other than Batman & co. I eventually ordered a knock off from Ebay which tbh was better quality than I was expecting, I just didn't like the cowl/helmet it came with, so I got myself the Flash MicroRacer set and repainted the cowl yellow and it works really well. I'm guessing we're pretty much done with 2016 sets, unless there's some surprises due to pop out? At least with pretty much most of the suicide squad members appearing in sets this year, it might encourage LEGO/DC to be a bit more adventurous with next years lineup and we'll continue to see newer characters to the LEGO world
BaneShake Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 After Batman runs out of villains (Clayface, Mad Hatter, Hush, Hugo Strange, Calculator, Calendar Man, Ten Eyed Man, Prof Pyg, BvS critics, Magpie, Humphrey Dumphrey and Tobias Whale) then maybe we might see a bad guy who isn't a Bat rogue Actually, it would be great if Tobias Whale popped up, as he's a Black Lightning villain, and I'd be okay with Black Lightning. I do understand why we get so many Bat-villains. Batman has what is almost un-debatably the best superhero rogues gallery around, especially when it comes to how many iconic villains have come out of it. Almost any random person on the street would be able to recognize Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, and the "classic" central few others present from the '60s show, as well as the likes of Two-Face and Poison Ivy, who weren't even present for that show. Most other heroes only have a few with common knowledge amongst the general everyman; Superman will get you Lex and Zod (and maaaaybe Doomsday), Wonder Woman might get you Cheetah. This isn't to say "iconic" is everything; Flash also has one of the best rogues galleries in comics, even though non-fans might not recognize them. Lego just has to go slower with them, so as not to overwhelm the primary target (kids) with too many unfamiliar faces all at once. If anything, ever since Lego Batman 3 released, any of the characters from that will be far more likely, because it's had enough time for plenty of kids and adults alike to recognize and desire the characters.

Roy Harper isn't as popular or iconic. If we ever got a Green Arrow set, he would have to be in it, and maybe one based on the classic Teen Titans, but otherwise he doesn't exactly slide into anything. Atom on the other hand is his own man and a major member of the Justice League. I'm positive that we'll see Atom sometime soon.

If anything, ever since Lego Batman 3 released, any of the characters from that will be far more likely, because it's had enough time for plenty of kids and adults alike to recognize and desire the characters. I always like to look at what Imaginext is doing with their DC license, and they've had no problem spreading out from Batman's rogues. They've got practically all of Superman's major rogues, the bigger Justice League baddies, some Flash villains, and that's along with the slew of Arkham inmates. Their lineup of heroes is blowing Lego out of the water, too, with guys like Red Tornado, Red Robin, and even Bd'g, the squirrel Green Lantern that tried to kill himself after his wife left him for his best friend when he "died". They don't mess around over there. Lego has an advantage over Imaginext, and that's that they can sell a set based on the build and not the characters if they have to. Kids like Legos, not just the name on the box. Heck, I didn't care much at all about Star Wars until I got the Lego Naboo Starfighter. Same goes for the likes of Indiana Jones. Lego is a gateway drug for pop culture. Lego could totally give kids new faces without it hurting anything. Not to mention, we are getting a new Justice League cartoon soon, and the first character images show a pretty well-rounded lineup of characters (even one or two that I hadn't heard of) so now more than ever they could get away with some outside-the-box choices.
Deathstroke77 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I must say, I think we'll have a more JL-esque line in 2017, since we had an almost completely Batman related line this year.

LegoRomania Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Hi,on Licensing Expo were revealed some new movie posters, next year is Wonder Woman Movie, new sets? Edited June 25, 2016 by LegoRomania
Deathstroke77 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Since LEGO Batman has his own movie line next year, I think we may see some new Batsuit variations and villains, if the film goes that way, which it may. Edited June 25, 2016 by AngelofVengeanceAzrael7
Sir Gareth Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) That actually came up in the LEGO Batman Movie threads: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=125962 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=130714 The upcoming Justice League animated series and feature film have both been discussed in the Future Speculation thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105705 Edited June 25, 2016 by Sir Gareth

I completely agree Roy Harper is much less iconic (not sure about popularity as Atom isn't really seen in the modern comics that much) but in terms of seeing Atom in the future I worry he isn't iconic enough to feature in a set or may not be used in a set for fear of confusion with Ant-man (as I presume we would see an Atom minifigure and micro figure).
Jbricks Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I've been using the blue trophy figure from the BBT set as Atom, as the set comes with an extra of both the red and blue trophy figures.
Deadshot Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Is the Rescue From Ra's set a confirmed Target-exclusive set here in the States? Everything I've seen about it being a Target-exclusive set are from rumors so old that it was only that, a rumor, if it's officially exclusive or not. Just don't want to waste time checking other stores come July 1st. Edited June 25, 2016 by Deadshot
Amazing Bricks Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Target or Wal-Mart? IIRC, it's a Target exclusive.
legosamsonite Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Target or Wal-Mart? IIRC, it's a Target exclusive. I thought doctor strange was target? Walmart gets nothing?
Amazing Bricks Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Good point! I reported on that, duh! Doc strange is target and ra's is Wal-Mart.
