Digger of Bricks Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I think a theme composed of Lego designers' original, personal side project creations would be great, perhaps named something along the lines of "Designers Choice". Many of TLG's most well known designers, such as Jamie Berard, Marcos Bessa, Mark Stafford (a.k.a. @Nabii), etc, could offer some amazing sets based upon an original creation of theirs for any genre of their liking. For instance, I know Mark Stafford creates some impressive mecha and viper fighter MOCs that could make for some very nice set material. Quote
BrickG Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Star Trek I think the only chance that happens is with Ideas and with a limited Ideas release. This is only possible if Mega Bloks loses it's license. Though to be fair the Mega Blok sets are decent, but I'd highly prefer Lego ones. I think a Lego ideas set that is simply the Enterprise-D bridge, a fairly large/medium set with all the main characters (Picard, Riker, Data, Geordi, Diana, Crusher, Worf, maybe a few "Red shirts") would have the potential to sell decently too. The difficult part is how to do a freakin' Klingon in Lego form. I'm not sure it could be done well enough without a new mold, which Ideas doesn't do. Geordi has a hairpiece available that, while it's not totally accurate, would be good enough and I suppose the visor could be part of the print. No phasers or tricorders and stuff either because it would involve a new mold. I wouldn't mind a TOS bridge set either with all the characters. Though again, I think Spock would need a new hair mold to work well... Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I've recently been obsessed with the prospect of a Pacific Rim theme being considered by Lego, something that I personally could see being done as a Ultrabuild constraction theme. While I think that would be the most viable route for the IP, ideally, I'd prefer a traditional System based constraction line. This theme would be made up of sets each featuring a single twelve to sixteen inch Jaeger and a statistical, UCS styled display plaque with minifigures of the Jaeger's two pilots. Along with the original five featured in the first film, a followup wave could include the Jaegers seen in the 2018 sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising. As far as Kaiju go, they could be made, but all I'd really want would be the Jaegers. Quote
Legohead458 Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Reboot Adventurers, rehire the guy that used to make the comics for them - if they even had similar builds and just improved on them I'd be happy Quote
jonwil Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 I wish they would make some Space sets that are as good as sets like the 6973 Deep Freeze Defender. Too bad TLG is unlikely to make the kind of Space sets people like me want because they would be too similar to (and compete too much with) their overpriced Star Wars sets :( Quote

Aw shoot, did I just paraphrase Princess Leia? Quote

I don't have a ton of nostalgia for the quality of comics in those days, and I can't think of much that the older artists could do that current artists like Dan Veesenmeyer and Paul Lee aren't already doing well (perhaps even better). Digger of Bricks Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Lego Looney Tunes. If there was an animated franchise that could make for a CMS of characters all using new, specialized head molds, this would have been a much better choice than the Simpsons. But hey, who knows. Perhaps we could see the franchise make a presence in future WB Lego Cinematic Universe films. Quote
jonwil Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 If LEGO did Looney Tunes I would buy the whole lot. Quote
Traveleter Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 (edited) I think a theme with most potential, potential in playability sense and in diverse building sense, but not big market potential outside Western and Eastern Europe, without big marketing expenses, is Asterix. To me that is a perfect licensed theme for Lego. It is perfect because it is so well recognizable in France, Belgium, most of Western Europe and Eastern Europe and brings huge diversity: 1) diversity in mini figures - Asterix, Obelix, Gauls, Ceaser, Cleopatra, Romans, Egyptians, Vikings, Britons, Pirates, wild boars, lions, camels and more 2) diversity in buildings - Gaul village, Roman forts times four, Rome, Britons' village, Goths' village, Roman arena, pyramids, Cleopatra's palace and more 3) diversity in transport - carts, Pirates ship, Roman war ship, merchant ship and more 4) diversity in playing scenarios - Asterix in Britain, Asterix defending his village, Asterix against Roman patrol, Asterix in Egypt, Asterix saving Gauls from Roman arena and more It is also perfect because it is funny and not serious, it offers great playing hours and different builds, plus great humour. It offers small, medium and large sets, even UCS: complete Gaul village or complete Roman arena. It could be a 5 year long theme without problem. And it would not require too much new molds. Do others agree? Edited September 2, 2017 by Traveleter Quote

6A13TT99 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) For some reason a Lego New Zealand theme would be nice to see maybe focusing on different parts of New Zealand culture without dairy farming of course (wrecking our waterways because of there being too many of them). Some examples. 1. A sheep farm with a small cottage and a shearing shed. 2. a small dairy I think this would be good as most people overseas (except Australia of course) barely know of our existence so this could be good as some sort of educational material. they could even sell small sets at souvenir shops in my country. Oh indeed Although, Creator Expert and whatever subtheme the Technic Porsche belongs to might deprive a rebooted Racers of all its potential glory, unless a dual-branding concept could be considered and accepted, idunno. Either way, I'd like to see more big exaggerated Technic things like these - the sparseness of the builds made them light and spacious enough to upgrade with Power Functions bits and whizz around good. I may have mentioned here or elsewhere that it would be interesting to see what could be done with 4-wide Tiny Turbos type stuff with all the new small pieces that have been introduced in the last five years, particularly the bowed and curved tile parts. I wouldn't even mind them being festooned with stickers again, as long as we don't get more STAMPs. I have no choice but to keep those parts together when storing my dismantled Terbeaus. Outdoor RC stuff sounds unlikely because of how rugged the parts need to be; they were so specialised that they were difficult to mix with all such as Technic. This was probably intended to prevent people from snapping parts that weren't really designed to be part of something that flings itself off a mound into the air. We may never see such radness ever again. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Thanks to Mattel, this would most unfortunately be an impossibility, but I'd really love to see Lego return to the Thomas the Tank Engine licence. Ideally, a two separate System based lines could be done. The first would be a Juniors subtheme, made up of around five to six sets a year utilizing the narrow gauge track introduced in 2009's 7199 The Temple of Doom. Each set would feature a brick-built location, at least one engine with cars, and several lengths of narrow gauge track. Most importantly, such a subtheme would potentially introduce highly desired narrow gauge straights and even switches/crosstrack. The second line would be most simply a annual L-Gauge D2C theme for older builders, with a single set released each year. No track would be included for cost's sake, just a single character locomotive with a pair of cars, trucks, or coaches for them. Also, about five to six exclusive figures in period set attire would ice the cake quite nicely. Such a D2C line would also definitely supply train fans with both recolored locomotive wheels and potentially new midsized locomotive wheels. On 10/12/2017 at 1:36 PM, Gnac said: Oh indeed A Racers revival would definitely open many more doors for experimental subthemes than Speed Champions could. I mean, Speed Champions could evolve, but Lego doesn't seem like they are interested in expanding the theme beyond licensed minifigure-scaled supercars. I guess D2C Expert scale cars, non-licensed minifigure scale sport cars, Technic supercars, four-wide cars, and others have all simply been relegated to already preexisting themes such as Technic, City, and Creator. There just wasn't a place for licensed minifigure scale cars though, so hence was born Speed Champions. Quote
Captain Dee Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Two suggestions. First, replace the next Pirates line with Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. (Call it that, instead of Pirates.) The story is a worldwide classic, there are ample characters for minifigs, and plenty of good set ideas: the inn, tavern, ship, stockade, treasure stash, plus numerous other small scenes. Who doesn't want a LEGO Long John Silver? And best of all, it isn't copyright-protected and wouldn't need to be licensed as far as I can tell. Secondly, Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow would be a fun historic theme. Again, it's a worldwide classic, with enough set possibilities for a good wave or two. And again, I think the copyright and other protections have long since expired. Fantasy doesn't interest me in any way. Quote

But I'm more interested in historic themes from the medieval era. I'm into knights and wizards and dragons and castles, so while I would like the themes you listed, and I would buy them, they would still be far from my favorite. I think I'm only mentioning this because of your final comment about a lack of interest in fantasy, while there are a lot of people that fantasy really does appeal to. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Lots of these have already been said (and most will never ever happen ) but here are some I'd like: Reboots: Avatar-the last airbender, Pirates (2009), Fantasy Era, Lotr, The Hobbit, Kingdoms, Doctor Who, Monster Fighters, Orient expedition, Islanders, Atlantis and Harry potter. New: Lincensed: Steven Universe, Pokemon ,Super Mario Galaxy, The Elder Scrolls, Stranger Things, Star Wars rebels (as its own thing), Super Smash Bros, Portal, Merlin(BBC series),Cw DC shows,The Sarah-Jane Adventures, X-men, Mulan, Poldark, The Princess Bride, Atlantis (BBC series),Artemis Fowl , Percy Jackson (books, I hated the film)The legend of Zelda,Young justice, Studio Ghibli, Torchwood, Pirates of Penzance, DragonFable, Stardew valley, Dragon Cave, Master of Olympus Zeus, The Nightmare before Christmas, Class, Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, Children of Hurin, Legend of Korra, Mario Kart and The Emperors new groove. In-house: Misc (like I suggested on the castle thread with the long name about believing in new castle themes, and yes @x105Black Forgetting western was an oversight thought that was just an example) Grecian myth and legend, Romans Empire (esp Celts, Hadrian's wall etc), 1700's Europe based theme, Pride of nations (having a different cultural icon or landmark from a different nation bi-annually(no repeats till they got them all)), an afol targeted theme with different important historical scenes (e.g Lief Erickson discovering america, the building of the great wall of china, Napoleon's loss at Waterloo,The successful winter invasion of Russia ( by the Mongols),the battle of Hastings and I know that no one would expect the Spanish inquisition). This isn't an exhaustive list, I decided not to go into much detail as then this post would be super long. Edited November 10, 2017 by Agent Kallus decided Quote
