Brainbox Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Today was my first day at collge. Nothing much special happened. That's it. Although, I got my proper timetable at the end of the day, and it would seem General Studies and Tutorial haven't actually been timetabled... but are listed at the bottom of the page as subjects which haven't been timetabled! *wacko* And my Critical Studies entry has no tutor name or room number on it, so I've no idea where I'm supposed to go! I mean, it's an okay timetable, apart from the stuff that isn't. :-P Quote
Corvus Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Yesterday we sanded down our deck, and today we're painting and staining. It's hot outside, whew! I might get some foam core for a shadowbox today. Quote

SirNadroj Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Today I joined Eurobricks, and tore apart my HP-theme stuff (4757 and 5378) and all 48 of my Harry Potter minifigs, in order to start making POTC (*wub*) stuff. ;-) Welcome! It always good to see more PotC stuff! Here's my potc things, in case your interested: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=197227 (Also, after my first post in this thread: I finished my figurehead contest entry I made a new sigifg. PSPguy Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I just finished a back to sch00l party 1 day before school. Quote
Siegfried Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Went on the Atlantis Submarine today it was awesome!! Is that a real sub (that is the whole vessel submerges at least a meter/3 foot) or is it just one of those falsely named glass bottomed boats? Since you say that you... Went down about 107 feet ...it implies that it does actually fully submerge. Wow! 8- Quote
Brainbox Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 (edited) Yeaterday my latest Lego S@H order arrived, so I built some of that (Batcopter, Crossbow Attack and MM MX-11). Hinckley Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Well, I have been really busy with my latest show, so Jocko and I took some time out today to build a rocket with a bicycle pump, a cork and a two-liter bottle... Uh-oh! Who's that tied to the rocket? It's Ras! (in prisoner garb. I wouldn't shoot a rocket with a SW torso on it *wacko* ) Get ready for take-off Ras! lift-off! Hinckley soaked! :-D :-D Ras almost in orbit!! He's okay folks! Just a little scared...looks like he wet his pants... :-D All the while, Riley enjoyed a nice pine branch... Quote
Shadows Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Well, I have been really busy with my latest show What's your latest show? Oh, and cool pathway there *y* and it looks like a lot of fun to be had by all, Riley included. :-D And I think it's gonna be a long long time Till touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the man they think I am at home Oh no no no I'm a rocket man Rocket man, burning out his fuse up here alone Rocket Ras On! *y* Quote

The actor who normally plays him had to leave town... It is very fun. For those unfamiliar with the show, as I was before they gave me the script, Rudolph is a very angry German waiter whose accent gets more and more pronounced the angrier he gets. And I get to dance! :-D :-D :-D I'm having a blast but I'll be done after Sunday. :-/ Quote
Siegfried Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I am playing Rudolph in Hello Dolly! for a week. The actor who normally plays him had to leave town... Yay! I was in a version of Alice in Wonderland once with the parts of the catapillar and the gryphon. On two nights the guy playing the Mad hatter was sick so I played that role as well! I love taking over peoples parts! :'-) Quote
Shadows Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Rudolph is a very angry German waiter whose accent gets more and more pronounced the angrier he gets. And I get to dance! :-D :-D :-D Oh man, that does sound like a fun part, minus the dancing. I dance like a pirate on a wooden leg. A broken wooden leg. With termites. *pirate* Shame we can't see any of it... :-( Now I'm picturing Fritz Feld in one of his classic waiter roles. Except you're taller. And younger. Why does it seem like I talk to myself in these posts sometimes? I should stop that. There I go again. Commenting on it isn't helping, it's just making me do it more. Like that. Oh, Fritz Feld! I know why I'm thinking of him. He frequently played German or Belgian roles, usually just vaguely enough that you weren't certain which he was. Well, in one episode of the 70's Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series, they end up in Romania and he's the bellman at the hotel. I had some point to make here, I know I did. Right! So, when he gets flustered, he starts to slip up and say things he shouldn't, including references to his sinister past, especially in referring to the desk captain as kommandant. Now that I think about it, this isn't related at all. *wacko* So... do you get to sing too? If you think my dancing is bad, you should hear my singing. Quote

On two nights the guy playing the Mad hatter was sick so I played that role as well! I love taking over peoples parts! :'-) I have the most fun when that happens, because my reserve goes out the window. I have nothing to lose! I seem to give my best performances in these situations. The level of spontaneity helps. On a side note, I did Alice in Wonderland in college. It went to down in history as one of the worst shows ever produced at my school. I played a card and the front of the horse. The director tried to make it obtuse and dark ??!! *wacko* She was a grad student and tried too hard to think outside of the box. The rumor was that they gave her the children's show because they assumed she couldn't mess it up... My friends said, "we thought Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were going to ripe Alice!" :-/ It was very weird... So... do you get to sing too? If you think my dancing is bad, you should hear my singing. If you go through the User Picture Thread, you can hear me sing and see some of my show shots... And yes, I'm singing 1st tenor in this, which is ridiculous as I am a bass/baritone. I look at the music and go, I'm two lines above where they would put me if I had been cast in this...but I know theory and I know how to place my voice that high in a chorus. I couldn't sing a solo that high. My dancing is passable. I have been doing theatre long enough to have picked up enough to get by. Basically, I am always in the right place at the right time...as for my technique... :-/ Quote
Siegfried Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 The director tried to make it obtuse and dark ??!! Well it does have potential to be dark (and supposedly it is meant to be), but the play version is too simple and aimed for children. You would need to write a new conversion.... And yes, I'm singing 1st tenor in this, which is ridiculous as I am a bass/baritone. That happened to me once. I was cast as the youngest boy in "Sound of Music" (Frederick?) long after my voince broke. (I was trying for Rolfe.) Unsurprisingly I lost the part. :-| I'm sure you will do better than me though. :-D Quote
simonwillems Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Today I went to what people here in Holland refer to as the Trial of the Century, a trial against one of Hollands top-criminals (so they say) Willem Holleeder in a heavily armed and protected court here in Amsterdam. The accused arrived in a convoy of three black cars, all with flashlights and sirens and a police helicopter overhead. Quite spectacular! The court (nicknamed The Bunker) was situated inside a building with a large wall built around it, barbed wire on top, lots of cameras and policeofficers, it was more like a fortress. I had to go through two thorough checks before entering the public room. Today lots was said about the extorsion practices of this criminal, and all of the people who got killed because of their role of accomplices. All in all a nice trip for a student of Crime/Criminology like myself... And what did you do today? Quote
Stauder Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 And what did you do today? Interviewed Apo and Jocko. But SHHHH its a secret. Quote

I also played Friedrich when I was 12 and my voice had just changed but I still had a falsetto so I could hit the high 'G' in So long, Farewell...but had to drop an octave for everything else. That was my first professional show! I got to leave school for it two days a week! X-D Friedrich is the older boy by the way, Kurt is the youngest. If you auditioned for Rolf, I'm sure they cast you as Friedrich... :-P Quote
Scouty Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 lift-off! Hinckley soaked! :-D :-D You have one of the best backyards I've seen. :-) What I did today? School. Quote
