Tommy Styrvoky Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) Defiler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Well I present a idea of mine for the latest TC7 contest, It has inspiration from Road Warrior and a couple street rods I saw last year at Back to the Fifties street rod show, and I will be going to that again next weekend.... more inspiration ... Like seeing vehicles with V12 engines and other crazy stuff mounted in a Ford Model A chassis. Another Rod by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr and other inspiration from Fury Road "Elvis" So far my current plans are to create a vehicle based on a model A body with different weapons mounted inside of it, like one of my various weapons systems is either based on a 20mm cannon system... or something more modern, a bushmaster m242 25mm auto-cannon.... as bigger is better This weapon will feature a folding system to deploy it and it may also feature a means of recoiling back and forth to simulate firing. another thought for defense would be a frontally mounted ram that would either deploy from in front of the radiator, like the War rig in Mad Max Fury Road Edited June 18, 2015 by Tommy Styrvoky Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 whow nice to see that much goiung is such small thing Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) Well here's some progress so far on the chassis, I have made the locations for the 2 L motors, and the rear axe is suspended. The steering rack is in place, and the deployable ram works too. Lego Defiler (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Ram in outwards position, it is quite sturdy, and it deploys out 6 studs from the closed position, and locks in the closed and farthest position with a rubber band system. Tommy Styrvoky Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) More progress Lego Defiler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I decided to do something more unique than a run of the mill V8 engine... 2 badass V6 engines with over 1000 horsepower.Though I may change the shotgun barrel intakes to standard scoops, as they look a little too small, or just make them larger. I also added a set of spikes that deploy from under the front ram, the radiator will be mounted at the rear of the vehicle. Lego Defiler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr what better for inspiration of post apocalyptic vehicles than rat rods, here's a couple that were interesting at back to the fifties this past weekend. MSRA back to the Fifties 2015 St. Paul, MN by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr This Volksrod was interesting because it utilized a engine from a plane, it has a 6 cylinder opposing cylinders. Milan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Nice chains. I dont know how long would they work properly so exposed in the dust of the Wasteland, but it sure looks good :) You are keeping red/dbg paintjob? Hope it will have proper modelteam body. Quote

Hope it will have proper modelteam body. yeah, I'm still uncertain on how the dbg will fit into the red, the chains are supposed to be belts like on a real vehicle, they drive the water pump for coolant, and the alternator. Milan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Do you have other colors at disposal? I know you are lbg guy, though... For the chains, I love them! You could use lego belts, but this gives much tougher and rugger look. Quote

MaxSupercars Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Tommy it looks very interesting for now... I like your exhaust pipes... I'm looking forward for final version... Max... Quote
PKW Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I see that those hotrod you are inspiring has wider wheels on The back But not taller than The front ones, you could use 42009 wheel for The front The ones of the 8070 for The Back anyway this is a Good start! Quote

I want the tires to look rugged, for driving around in a desert wasteland, and I lack the tires from 42009 Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Jim made a remark in the discussion topic that he didn't want Mad-max style vehicles, but more M.A.S.K. style vehicles, so maybe you shouldn't go too far in the post-apocalyps theme (but I must say it does look wicked) Quote

MacKaiwer Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Nice and cool lookin idea to have double supercharged V6 engines Exhausts are also badass Quote
Jim Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 That's a very promising start of your MOC! But please be aware that this is not a Mad Max competition. A bit of a wasteland look is obviously okay, but the car needs to have some form of transformation, from normal mode to battle mode. It's not sufficient to only have a battle mode. Of course I'm not sure what the end result will be, but looking at your start, you might take the wrong turn. Quote

Well I know the engines look a bit odd, but the body will look like a normal model A style street rod. Besides that I am unsure of what to consider a major transformation, I want to keep it practical, as the Ram is useful, and I have hardly any room with the PF components, I feel that puts motorized models at a disadvantage, as it takes up lots of space in the chassis and requires complex drivelines to deploy the weaponry for battle mode. PF is not mandatory, so in order to save space you could make it manual. There needs to be some transformation in the chassis or bodywork. Essentially, the vehicle needs to transform into something else. Another type of vehicle or base. Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 I may be deciding to not continue with this project, as I need to devote more time to other more important Mocs, as I have a limited amount of time until college comes, I hope to finish a model that has been worked on for over 2 months, and I hope to make instructions for it too. sorry Quote
