Mr Hobbles Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) It would seem that 10184 Town Plan is not likely to be a modular building, because it's missing the Technic pin and 1x2 brick with hole necessary to plug it into other buildings. :-( It also doesn't have the one of the three parts required to make the "Cafe Corner standard" lampost. On the other hand 10185 Green Grocer has all of these so it's safe to assume that this is definitely a modular building. :-D Actually, forgot to ask, why do we think these are 2008? Surely LEGO must have something up their sleeve for the 2007 holiday season... Edited August 29, 2007 by Mr Hobbles Quote
julencin2000 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 This morning (Spain time) I've been looking at the first set pieces in Replacement Parts page, includes at least five minifigs and so. But.... then.... when I was trying to look at the second set... it is not... The five sets have dissapeared, so we can not view the 'missing pieces' images. Anyone has a list of pieces or pics? :-( Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Tks guys for these cool insights !! I didn't have time to check in depth the part replacement ;-) Great new colour !! I simply love it (from what was posted by Hinckie) According to Mr Hobbles' post that 10184 Town Plan is a really a big ? It seems that it "fails" the modular standards but what could it be anyway ?? Lets let our minds wonder for a a while: could this be just a MF sized set - meaning a bigger City set and not Modular ?? Like that Main Sreet set a while back ?? Which was an exclusive too. That name is really not straitforward !! So it will remain guessing time :-P Now awaiting more info / insights with much anticipation ;-) *yoda* Quote
Shadows Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I think Town Plan could still be modular related. For one thing, those inventories are never completel. I've had to request missing parts before and not been able to find them in the online list (forcing me to manually describe them in the box below that). Back in the 60s LEGO made big layouts for blocks of a city and included them in appropriate sets. This was before road baseplates. I think Town Plan was a name it had been occasionally referred to by. Based on the parts assortment, I'm almost 100% certain this set includes a gas station. It could easily have some road plates and be intended to fill in the gaps around buildings, while providing one new one that wouldn't need to ever connect modularly, since it would take up it's own block. Whatever it is, with 400 different types of parts, it's going to be big. Otherwise, this could easily be something like 1592, just updated and for normal System instead of modular. Either way, it looks like a winner. Quote

Too bad you didn't do the same with SW :-P Frome the pics you posted, it really appears that both sets WILL be part of that modular buildings ! They really have a lot in common: * lamp post * MFs * food *wub* I wonder why there is an underwater gun in 10185 8- Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Well well well. They finally made granddaddy Death Star. I don't see much in the first Death Star, other than a new mini-star destroyer. I'm particularly excited, however, on the General Greivous Statue. If they make him with articulation and vitals, I probably won't last long without him. The Green Grocer looks to be a smallish set, smaller than most UCS town sets. I mean, it's just a grocer. How much can there be? Ok, the Town plan is weirding me out. What is a Town plan, even? I hope it's a cool build with cool figs and cool accessories. The VW bug ought to be a bit of a surprise. Lego hasn't made UCS cars, let alone the creator sets, but a single car in one 5 digit coded set? That's got to be hot. The Taj Mahal? Very interesting. It's not a hollow building, so windows, doors, and floors must be made. A summary: All cool UCS sets, 1/3 I won't get, 2/3 I might get. Quote

simonwillems Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Here you go:10184 Town Plan 10185 Green Grocer Thank you so much for saving those! *y* It looks like in the townplan there will definitely be some sort of garage with rollerdoors, and a carwash. And a car with real good-old-fashioned doors! The green grocer includes a harpoon rifle.... Probably some cleverly thought out construction. Can't wait! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 The green grocer includes a harpoon rifle.... Probably some cleverly thought out construction. Or a very ingenious theif... I agree with most people, the two town sets will no doubt be modular. It would appear there're two female figs in the first one, judging by the fact that there're two ponytail hairpieces. Notice how ther're six heads and six legs, but only three torsos, and about eight different head accessories. The Green Grocers (judging by the first page at least) would seem to have a nice selection of Dark Green and Dark Tan pieces. That's nice. The others, I can't really comment on, as I've not seen the parts lists. Grievous should be interesting, the Death Star is intriguing, and the Taj Mahal opens up a whole world (literally) of possibilities for other building sculptures. Big Ben anyone? And VW Beetles are just great anyway, so it'll be good to see what this is like. Quote
Christian Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Great find! Death Star?! Im having my fingers crossed for a mf-scaled one. Anyone happened to see which figs were in that set? If any at all. Quote

Christian Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 A minifig scale Deathstar...? Do you have an aircraft hangar or something? X-O I didnt meant like "real" scale ;-) . I meant one that had an interior for minifigs. Quote
Scouty Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I don't think anybody does, but I'm sure anybody has this: I like this list, I like. *wub* Quote
paksu Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I didnt meant like "real" scale ;-) . I meant one that had an interior for minifigs. :-D You're not the only one asking for it: I mean the UCS DS is not that old, so it has to be a MF size set !! Yeay !!Ah that is really interesting !! Let's see... The Death Star(s) being a "couple" hundred to 900 kilometers in diameter, and the Minifig scale being about 1:45, that would mean that the new Lego set would be... Five to twenty kilometers in diameter when built. Okay then. :-D :-D Quote
Joebot Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Lego should do this with all their product releases. I would have never thought that looking at the piece inventories, then trying to imagine what the set looks like, would be this much fun. But this is really cool. But it's only fun for a while. Now make with the pictures already, huh? I'm totally on board the Death Star playset bandwagon. In my opinion, that's the second biggest "welll, duh" Star Wars set that Lego hasn't yet made (with the Tauntaun coming in at #1). A modular, multi-set Death Star series covering all the major scenes in "A New Hope" would rock. Quote
Zarkan Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Awesome! These new town sets are looking wonderful! Food, a cat, and possibly a girl figure(!) are sure welcome! And the other stuff sounds great, too! Thanks, HJR, even if you refuse to take the credit. :-P Quote
DJ Force Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 new to me! You should buy more Exo-Force ;) There are 4 of these in the Striking Venom Set. Quote

sam89 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 The sets probably won't be out for quite some time, so don't go expecting pics any time soon. We haven't even got the January 2008 pics yet ;-) Quote
julencin2000 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Oooops I meant 'replacement pieces' pics, not the entire built set... well, entire built set too :-D *wub* Quote
DJ Force Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Come to think of it.... I THINK I have a pic of that beetle. Or at least of a prototype. Unfortunatley uploading is disabled at the moment at brickshelf. So I Quote
