Remember that the DS is a mini sun. even if shrinking down to MF scale, it is still quite large.

Are you sure? I thought it was the size of a small moon with figures for the first ranging from 120-160 km diameter, and the second from 160-900km. For comparison, at the equator, the diameter of Earth is 12,756.32 km. The "real" answer is unclear, as it is never said in the movies and secondary sources don't concur. However, Luke did say "He's headed for that small moon".... Eitherway, it is rather big.

Luckily, the answer could be found in our lifetime. This picture compares the Death Star with Mimas, a moon of Saturn.....

the sun is a star. a star ranges from a white dwarf to a red giant. a white dwarf or a small moon...which is bigger? *wacko* *wacko* i don't really know tbh. the same maybe??? mini white dwarf = what size??? :-D

anyhoo, mf scale is somewhere between 1:45 to 1:54. 160km reduced to 1:50 is around 3km. 900km reduced to 1:50 is around 18km. that's way bigger than the pentagon regardless.

Well supposedly a neutron star can be that small, and a white dwarf can be the same size as Earth, but I am no expert. I always thought the name "Death Star" was silly for that reason. If it killed stars it might make sense.... Death Moon? :-P

Very true! X-D The first Death Star had a crew of around 1 million, just imagine a MOC with that many figs! X-O

This conversation is getting a tad silly. :-$

Guess we have to get this conversation back to what's important then (and this I say after having spent quite a lot of time reading about the different ways of calculating the size of the Death Stars) ;-)

On the "Replacement parts" page http://www1.lego.com/eng/service/replaceme...rts.asp#content, currently it's still possible to find the parts content for a unnamed set with number 10171

And just in case it disappears ;-)

Very clever move there Paksu !! Too bad you didn't do the same with SW :-P

Frome the pics you posted, it really appears that both sets WILL be part of that modular buildings !

They really have a lot in common:

* lamp post

* MFs

* food *wub*

I wonder why there is an underwater gun in 10185 8-

And finally, any theories about what weird_tile_1x4.png could be? (it's in 10185)

..and I really should do something useful instead of just speculating about upcoming LEGO sets ;-)

1x4 reddish brown tile with rope pattern. Or tan snakes. Or rubber bands.

I'm going back to ropes. Or tree roots. *wacko*

Something more useful than speculation? Go build something! *y*

Maybe It'll be in the Taj Mahal as decoration. Forgive me if it's too obvious, I just thought I'd put it in as no one's said it yet. ;-)

Thanks to HJR for pointing this out. Type in the following set numbers in to LEGO's replacement parts page (select your age first) and you get the following sets:

http://www1.lego.com/eng/service/replaceme...rts.asp#content

10184 Town Plan

10185 Green Grocer

10186 General Grievous

10187 Volkswagen Beetle

10188 SW Death Star

10189 Taj Mahal

It wasn't in the Taj Mahal parts list. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was in the Town Plan inventory.

Ah. I didn't look that close! :-$ In that case I'm stumped. :-/

You can bet there will be that great fig Death Star Troopers (aka Navy TRoopers) and one of the rooms wiill be a cell bloke with Leia and that round medical droid

dstcap07.jpg

and off course a glorious Trash Compactor hehe

da_trash.jpg

And off course a imperial command center.

I forsee Vader, Luke, Han, Leia, DS Troopers (at least 2), 2 imperial officers and a new high ranked officer !! and a medical droid and a mouse droid.

Lets hope I'm correct :-P

DS On !! That is the set that I really want to know more asap !!

*yoda*

I totally agree with you, xwingyoda!

The Trash Compactor, a cell bloke and an imperial command center should really be included in this set - and I think that they even will be! I'd like Grand Moff Tarkin's meeting room with the small window to look out of the Death Star, the round big table with the seats for the officers, too and I hope it'll be included, too!

By the way: I thought about it once more and now I'm sure that the 10188 SW Death Star can only be the Death Star 1 from Episode 3-4. Otherwise TLC would have named the set "10188 SW Death Star 2". So I'm a bit disappointed because I'd have liked Emperor Palpatine's

throne room (with the elevator) so much.

But nevertheless I'm looking forward to see (and even buy - I hope it won't cost more than 150-200 Euros) it and I think it'll be a great set.

It's very certain in my mind that 10185 Green Grocer is a modular building (Which I'm very happy about!), however the more I look at 10184 Town Plan, the less I think it is a modular set.

I'm starting to lean towards the idea that it is a remake of the classic set 725 Town Plan (Picture), which included a plastic mat with street layouts, and buildings and cars to place ontop of it. What with the amount of wheels and windscreens and windows in this set I think it is something similar to this.

I agree in both points with you, Mr Hobbes!

To the 10185 Green Grocer set:

On the one hand I think (and even hope) that it'll be no Modular building set. the reason for this is that in the Market Street set there isalready included a veg stall. So it would be absurd to release another Modular building set which includes a grocer's shop.

On the other hand I think that it'll be a Modular building set. The reasons for that are that at first TLC released two Modular building sets this year. Not releasing more sets of this kind in the future would - in my opinion - make no sense. Secondly there is - in my opinion - missing another corner house (look at the picture in the left middle of the bottom of the page http://shop.lego.com/ByCatalog/onlinecat.aspx?c=de6) at the left side to conclude the front of the Caf

I've always had a theory about that. I bet the Emperor had one of those throne rooms EVERYWHERE. On both DS's, on Executor, on various planets, you name it. I'm not sure they all had that convenient ventilation shaft to throw him down, but I bet they were similar in ways.

But here's where I think LEGO could do something DARING! Yes, I said DARING!

Modular Death Star.

After the success of Cafe Corner, imagine a Modular Death Star. Flash back a few years to that Cloud City set that wasn't so hot. Ok, I'll admit, it could have been a lot better, but it was modular! Arrange the rooms however you want, add rooms, etc, all connected by pins.

Flash forward to now.

Death Star Hangar. Works for the DS, works for DSII.

Imperial Hallway. Every station needs at least 182,000 of them.

Death Star Elevator. Recreate that exciting elevator ride to the detention block OR to meet the Emperor.

Detention Block. Dianoga INCLUDED if you order NOW!

The list could go on and on...

Yes. Modular Death Star! Don't settle for anything less!

You know... I'm crazy. I don't know why you people allow me to post at all.

If you call in the next 30 minutes, we'll include, ABSOLUTELY FREE, this handy Death Star Toilet! Yes, be the first on your block to know if it's a moon or a space station!

Well, now, how about a little contest :

What can you build with those pieces? :-D

Too bad we don't have the quantity for each parts...

I'm really intrigued by that 10171, though...

But the only thing I'll be crying about is their set numbers... THEY'RE GONNA BE S@H EXCLUSIVE!!!!

Noooooooo!!!!! I don't have any means of buying anything from S@H :'-( :'-( :'-(

You could turn to Belug and ask if one of the members is prepared to help you, or ask help from a German or Dutch AFOL in case that's more convenient for your locaton, or come visit us at a club event of De Bouwsteen in the Netherlands, where S@H sets are often offered for sale by standholders.

There aren't LEGO stores in Belgium?

There aren't LEGO stores in Belgium?

For instance, in Spain we don't have any LEGO store. So, for this reason, I wasn't able to buy many S@H exclusives throguh internet, in the days I hadn't internet at home T-T

As far as I know, the only countries that have LEGO Stores are Germany, Russia, USA and the UK.

For about an year Russia is not in this list anymore :(
