Purpearljellyblob Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) A shade quickly comes to the group. Running to fast he ends up slipping in some mud sliding in to one of the logs then hearing a "thud" and a "crack". A few seconds later he pulls out a shovel and puts in the ground then using it as a balance and gets up. Then checking himself out, he felt some numbness but other wise could move like normal if not a little slower than normal. Germ accidentally tosses some uninteresting mud a couple of metres away as he attempts to balance himself. Na'im swallows. He swore he would never go back to that place, to his homeland, all those years ago when he stared across the water towards the mob demanding he be flayed alive. But here he was catapulting himself back into the very lands he left all those years ago. What had he got himself into? Na'im glances at the pile of logs uncertainly, and addresses the ancients carefully: "now my friends, you see I am not as young as I used to be, and I assure you I am not entirely cut out for this kind of work. My physical strength is not exactly what it once was..." Lyrion approaches and gently places his hand on Naím side, "I understand. We're here for you, Naím. Have a rest." If the wood will not negatively affect Kiray's Smith's Katana (WP 10), she uses it to chop wood. If it will negatively impact the blade, she picks up an axe to chop wood. Mhinak takes an axe. "Don't worry, you'll get the axe back. Now let's get cuttin'!" Mhinak begins to chop wood and makes grunting noises. Miderun picks up a Woodcutter's Axe, jamming her eyes shut tight in a vain attempt to block out the blaring sound of half a dozen axes rhythmically clunking into the logs, and starts chopping, clearly very well experienced with this type of labor. I think you were expecting me. "The Demon Germ" but I do respond to just "Germ". Then felling a question coming he add: The "Hall" seemed to turned in to a flea market for the moment. And I had to just get some stuff for the "quest". So, it is my fault for being late. Then noticing log he hit seemed to have a crack in it. Wonders why everyone is cutting wood and before he knows it he has a woodcutter's axe puts in his hands. And told to help out with the wood cutting. OoC: My stats have been updated. I now have 98 gold, 3 remedies, a throwing knife (wp:3), and a shuriken (wp;5). Germ notices that the woodcutter's axe is particularly blunt on the edge. (WP:2) "Germ, pleasure to meet you." Miderun finds the sharpest Woodcutter's Axe (WP:12) amongst the pile and contributes to the stockpile, alongside with Kiray, Mhinak and Germ. "Magnificent. Now may I, please." Hung goes around and gathers the axes. "So I take it-" she slams her axe down. "-this Prospector isn't exactly looking for metal. At least in Baltarok, we're taught Spesiala is a realm of a lot of elves and a lot magic. But then, we never really talk with them...ever." "Ye---a..." Before Hung could articulate anything, Lyrion stuffs his rock hard fist into Hung's crooked mouth, chipping off tiny bits of clay. "Hush, not here, brother, especially around these parts." "Sorry" says Hung as his voice resonates through Lyrion's fist. An odd dimensional shift, presents itself before the Heroes' eyes, emitting blue rays that are bright yet not blinding. A familiar face emerges, together with a couple of new facies. "Gather around, Heroes. I believe we met briefly in the Hall, but a re-introduction wouldn't hurt. I am The Prospector, Elnath Van Cleef. Precious metals, relics, and ancient artefacts are some examples of treasures that I seek. The Prospector is a title I have achieved through my eighty years of sweat and hard work, a title of respect amongst the communities that I serve that benefited from my journeys around Olegaia. Some have volunteered the title of The Philanthropist upon myself, which I humbly reject, although charity is part of my way of giving back to society and those who need it most. Unfortunately, age has caught up on the race to make the world a better place. I needed aides and too many, far too many before have set their eyes beyond the plenty that they already possess, until I met, Toren de Niero and Polly Darton. "Toren de Niero, were-racoon, ranger, at your service" Toren bows. "Polly Darton, she-barb(arian)" encircling her hammer rapidly such that it whistles as it cuts through the air. Grabbing the handle at an instant, Polly hangs the hammer over her shoulder. "I would have assumed you have already met my subordinates, the twin Golems, Lyrion and Hung Lannisters. They've been gratefully loyal ever since I gave them a mind and will of their own. If you've guessed it right, I am trained in the art of magic, henceforth, also known as the Sorcerer." Elnath gazes noticably at the setting sun, "Time is not on our side Heroes, we must absolutely set off before sunset. I'm sure you've a lot of questions about the whys, wheres, and the hows, however, such conversations would have to take place on the ship, while we're on our way, if you don't mind. The forest isn't the safest around these parts." Elnath redirects his attention to the Lannisters and looks around, "Preparations complete? Firewood, and supplies?" "Absolutely my liege." "Oh dear" Elnath rushes and kneels at Rocky's side as he lets out another cough. Pulling out his pouch, he hands him a couple of vials containing potion. Turning to Issac, who's tending to Rocky at that time, Elnath continues, "Here's the pay for you, Issac, and a bit more for you, Rocky, for your insistence to work despite illness. Go home to your family. Lastly, Issac, take good care of Rocky and make sure he's home before sunset. That illness needs to be tended to." Elnath gets up and approaches the Heroes, "I cannot thank you all enough. For those who lent their energy, a small token of appreciation." You will struggle to find a Fenarian port that will admitt foreign vessels. We-I mean they-are very supsicious and msitrustful of outsiders. "Er...thanks, Bobby," replied Miderun, blushing slightly. Kiray's brow furrows at the unfamiliar words spoken by Bobby. "Bobby, how did you and Miderun become so close? Or... tight... as you put it." "You know. Questing, killing stuff, and...well." Miderun scratched her head, failing to come up with anything more. "Yeah. Questing and killing stuff." "I agree with Mhinak" Kiray adds. "There's a lot more out there than Druids and assassins. A lot bigger and scarier, too. Dragons, sea beasts. Although, I've found the true monsters are the people like us." "People like us don't breathe toxic fire," she retorted, waving her bandaged arm before Kiray's eyes. "We're also easier to kill. Usually." An odd dimensional shift, presents itself before the Heroes' eyes, emitting blue rays that are bright yet not blinding. A familiar face emerges, together with a couple of new facies. Miderun winces a bit and covers her eyes with the back of one hand, looking none too pleased about the distinctly unnatural entrance. "Nalkuai...so...Elnath, is there some reason why it took this long to learn where we're going? I'm always ready for some heroing, but the quest note was...vague." "Spelesia is a land poulated by the star elves-elves of the worst kind, who combin all the most despicable traits of the elves-pride, decietfullnes, cruelty, selfishness and greed. It was they who drove us Fenarains underground centuries ago, and prevented us from ever walking beneath the fair groves and hills of Spelesia again. It is a land in ruins, for good reason. It was the elves who started this war, and so it is on their land, that the price in blood should be extracted" Na'im says in a low hiss, spittle flying form his mouth as he dose so. At the end of his rant he pauses to catch his breath. That was what he had been told by the grandmaster at the academy when he was a child back in Fenario. But now he was no longer sure if he hated Fenarians or star elves more-better to think about it in a more rested state Na'im conluded "Sounds familiar," replied Miderun quietly, after a long pause. samurai-turtle Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Toren returns with a nod. "The Prospector has chosen his Heroes wisely, all suited for stealth and survival, as is you, Germ." "I am certain I'm not the only one in this world. Your horizons will be challenged each time you step out of your comfort zone. Unfortunately I do not have faith that this forest will keep secrets within those canopies, despite your efforts. Fortunately we will be leaving this place in The Eyrie, a relatively stable vessel of mine, that has kept us afloat throughout these years. I trust that The Eyrie will not disappoint this time." "The feeling of restoring something lost and forgotten for ages, gives me the satisfaction that I seek in life, much like Heroing. Taking out assassins and evil druids gave you that sense of achievement, no?" Yes, probably a little to well, some will say. But, I guess that is how I am built. "The Eyrie", is it a steam ship? That would explain the fire wood. I do have a dumb question: Couldn't you just teleport their? The assassins were not as tough I might of made it sound. They were "trainees" and the "leader" did not seem too experience from what I could tell. "Anything for you me lady." Na'im returns Bobbies stare, and tightens his hand around his staff and sighs at Kiray "Did you have to say that Kiray my dear? You sem to have upset our gullible young friend" He waves a hand at Bobby "I expect you should tell him you were just jesting, hmph?" Na'im says in an authorative tone as if addresing a naughty schololgirl Hearing a low growl comes from Germ over the two protential love sick allies. "We're also easier to kill. Usually." Simply stating. I'm not. Getting a little board he asked: Should we get going now? We can hear more about this "quest" on the boat. But looking at the map he thought it would be quicker to fly their or teleport to this place. Quote

Purpearljellyblob Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Bobby grins wildly at his new friends. "Yo, it's awesome meet all you dudes! That's a neat-o trick you got there, my dude. Teleportation is fly as fu-". Bobby offers his hand to each of the three individually. "Yo, my name is Bobby but you can call me Young Bucks if that's aight with you. Real psyched to get on a ship. I always dig the sea, you know?" The three exchanged a few handshakes with Bobby. "I admire your enthusiasm, Young Bucks. Certainly, the vessel is not too far away from here." "The Eyrie", is it a steam ship? That would explain the fire wood. I do have a dumb question: Couldn't you just teleport their? Getting a little board he asked: Should we get going now? We can hear more about this "quest" on the boat. But looking at the map he thought it would be quicker to fly their or teleport to this place. "The wood is for keeping us warm and light for us to see at night, as for teleportation, I am not familiar with Spesialia enough to make that risk. Besides, how much energy does a man of my age can harness to accomplish such a feat?" Elnath leads the party a short distance away to the docks where the vessel is. "Would that feeling be for resurrecting an undead army that wants to destroy the world?" Mhinak chuckles. "Anyways, There's more to exterminate out there than assassins or druids. But I always feel achieved when I help those who call upon yours truly for a specific task that requires a hero. Anyways, I liked to more about where we're going. I'm not quite the surface Dwarf. Perhaps you could shed some light on it other than it's a wasteland?" "I would never have thought of such atrocities." waves Elnath. He pulls out another parchment, this time a more detailed map of Spesialia and Fenario. Na'im nods "indeed. You will struggle to find a Fenarian port that will admitt foreign vessels. We-I mean they-are very supsicious and msitrustful of outsiders. Back in my home, we confined outsiers to the lower levels of the city and prevented them form mingling with those who lived in the higher teirs." Na'im smiles gloatingly at the prospector after healing Rocky "Oh it was nothing master Van cleef. Some scholars say a select few individuals are simply born with the ability to manipulate flesh and heal minor injuries. I would chance that you are not one of them" Na'ims words were kindly but it didn't take a genius to sense an air of self-imprtance and gloating pride around his words. He also notices a shinig objet beneath the prospectors robes but resolves to say nothing, merely glaning quizically at the prospector-he didn't expect him to answer honestly in front of all the heroes and his aides "Spelesia is a land poulated by the star elves-elves of the worst kind, who combin all the most despicable traits of the elves-pride, decietfullnes, cruelty, selfishness and greed. It was they who drove us Fenarains underground centuries ago, and prevented us from ever walking beneath the fair groves and hills of Spelesia again. It is a land in ruins, for good reason. But now he was no longer sure if he hated Fenarians or star elves more-better to think about it in a more rested state Na'im conluded "And here I thought the Dark Dwarves were bad. Ugh, I knew Elves aren't that trustworthy!" Mhinak appears a bit angry. "Hmph, If you say this happened centuries ago, there's nothing we can do to make things better there. It seems the world has moved on, even if it meant by destroying the lives of many. Nonetheless, if we happen to stumble upon some of these Elves and they are hostile, think of it as a late revenge." Mhinak tries to comfort Na'im. "There's a difference of opinion between us." Turning to Naîm, "I totally respect your account of what happened, but I consider myself rather open-minded about most issues." Elnath shrugs. Pointing to the map, "Before anyone gets too caught up with the conflict between the Elves and Fenarians...... From what I gathered, Spesialia and Fenario used to be just Spesialia. Valastra lies in the heart of Spesialia, and is the Capital. And the Citadels and Cities (now in ruins), used to be Star Elven terrorities. Similar to that of Eubric Houses, the main families that rule Spesialia were the the Alphieth and the Fenari. Until one day both decided that there can only be one. Having lost their pride to the Alphieth, the Fenari retreated and made underground their home, The Land of Eternal Darkness, Fenario. It was there where they found Nekrastones that bestowed the Fenari great magical power. With their new found powers, they enacted revenge on the Alphieth. However, with great power also came with a cost, that very magic also twisted their appearances, and the Fenaris and their allies lost their fair complexion to pale pallid white and their eyes turned bloodshot. The Fenarians raided the Seven Peripheral Cities, rendering them to ruins. The constant war between the two devastated the once luscious and fertile land, turning them into what you see as wastelands today. The ruling Alphieth had no choice but to seal the remaining cities, creating a dome served to preserve and salvage whatever's left. Alphieth and their allies continue to guard the peripheral cities and wastelands till today." Elnath shrugs, "Perhaps my version originates from the first hand account of a Star Elf, named Shadir Oswain whom I made acquiantance him slightly less than a decade ago, although I have repeatedly failed to make contact with him since." Miderun winces a bit and covers her eyes with the back of one hand, looking none too pleased about the distinctly unnatural entrance. "Nalkuai...so...Elnath, is there some reason why it took this long to learn where we're going? I'm always ready for some heroing, but the quest note was...vague." "Agreed. Let's get going!" Mhinak boards the vessel and waits for the rest of companions. As Mhinak boards the vessel, the rest of the Heroes follow as well, to the top of the deck, where Elnath is. Elnath pulls out a thick and shiny pouch. Even the opaque materials that constitute the pouch could not contain the brightness in it. The Heroes could make out a shiny piece of blue stone. The radiance of which as Elnath dangles in front of the Heroes, instantly attracted the attention of many passerbys near the docks. "Lies before you is one of the Nekrastones I've mentioned." Nekrastone, Blue variant. (Quest Item) "Perhaps if you would ponder how I got my hands on this piece of rare stone, you would have realised how dangerous it is to proclaim to the public that there's indeed such an item of power in my possession. I apologise for being vague in the quest notice and not mentioning about it, for fear of being hunted down before I could even start to plan for my future. As to how I chanced upon such a gem, I was made guardian of this stone by Shadir Oswain, a Hero of Heroica. We made acquitaince under the most unexpected circumstances." Elnath quickly slides the pouch out of sight. "More than five years ago, the Lannisters and I naively sailed to Spesialia, in search for treasure, ancient relics, forgotten artifacts lost during the war. A foolish mistake was made as we docked at the Northen coast of Spesialia, where we were confronted by Star Elves patrol. Under the circumstances in which we were grossly outnumbered, we had no chance of retaliation and we were on the brink of deaths, even if we decided to turn the vessel around. I wonder if the Gods had mercy on us or decided to toy with our fates. Before these elves could attack us, they were ambushed by mysterious were-snakes. For unknown reasons at that time, they were after the leader of the patrols, Shadir Oswain. These were-snakes demanded Shadir to hand over 'the stone'. A battle ensued after a brief exchange between the leader, whom I believed was a Naga, and Shadir. His patrol was decimated and Shadir was defeated. Watching this tragedy unfold on our vessel did not sit well with me seeing the whole patrol slain right in front of my eyes. Before the Naga could take away the last of Shadir's life, I disembarked the vessel and with my arcane trickery, I temporarily blinded their leader and his/her pack and dragged the battered star elf into my vessel, much against his will and annoyance. We turned and never looked back. We eventually nursed Shadir wounds on the vessel and back to fighting health. As we cruised the coasts of the High Kingdoms, Shadir came to me and handed me the stone in a sealed pouch and his royal seal as means of savin his life. Returning to Spesialia would be a disgrace to his family and being the youngest of the seven, he did not find being the last in everything very meaningful. Hence, he decided to seek a new life on his own, one without nobility and he disembarked on his own. Before he did, the Nekrastone, as he explained, would bestow immense magical powers to anyone in possession. But great magical powers will come at a cost, as I mentioned earlier. Having not risk that sort of power and was suspicious as to why Shadir would give up such treasures so readily to strangers. I was fianlly enlightened a couple of months later. I was hunted for the next few years by the very were-snakes that nearly took Shadir's life. I was devastated, I had to hire Toren and Polly to undertake tasks that I normally did, while I slid into seclusion. Even if I did get out, it was usually in darkness. When I found out that Shadir worked for Heroica, I sent for him umpteen times in attempt to return these accursed items to him, but he did not respond to my letters. With that, I had the impression that he might have left Heroica and returned back to Spesialia. Anyway, it was during this period of seclusion that I discovered through ancient scrolls and research that there're five different types of Nekrastones. Although each provides the same magical enhancement, when in perfect combination, not only does one attain the powers, it also restores youth and beauty, with no cost. These five different nekrastone can be found throughout Spesialia. And it appears that this Nekrastone in my possession can only be found under the city of Valastra, which the Star Elves sealed themselves away. Although I am uncertain about the colour variants, the rest were believed to originate from the underground where the Fenarians and underground monsters roam, in surface caves and the surrounding forests around the sealed dome. " "I have reliable sources that that this power hungry Naga has been actively seeking these Nekrastones, and would be a disaster if this one, or any one lands into the wrong hands." "Do not underestimate these were-snakes if you chance upon them, for they will not show mercy. I have not explored enough to fully grasp the lay of the land. But I hope that this journey to Spesialia would not be a waste one. I intend to return this Nekrastone and the noble seal to its rightful owners." "Shall we? I can answer any queries that you might have while we're on our way." An indication for the party to make haste as he dons his cloak over his head. Zepher Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Bobby concentrates as much as he can to the long history of Heroica and Spesialia and the Naga but all the names start to swirl together from him. He glances at Miderun, hoping that maybe she was gathering some of the information and would be able to brief him later, and glances at Kiray too because earlier she said that thing about the darkness in humans. "Yo dog, ain't gonna play and say I got all that, but real simple you got that stone and it's gotta go back to the right people. Don't know if that's the elves or the Fenerians, seems like they're both good and bad like all shiz, you know, but it does seem like it ain't sposed to go to the Naga, so that's straight at least. Germ notices some unrecognisable elvish incription at the side. "Anyway, these cave crickets, never heard of them. I suppose they aren't dangerous?" Yzalirk Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 "Master Elnath, I hate to alarm you but those crows back at the docks squawking up a storm were talking about you. They know you have a Nekrastone. Hopefully nothing comes of it but we should keep that in mind. I don't advise taking it out on occasion unless it's really important, just for the safety of us all." Mhinak notices Polly and approaches her with the obvious love-bird look. "Hello there beautiful, tell me about yourself." Quote
