NNOPMOC Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Try the LEGO Store. If your nearest is Watford, you're definitely in luck as that's where I got them I spoke with the MK Lego store this morning and they confirmed that they were given authorisation to put them on the shelves 'early', starting yesterday (Monday). So it looks like UK Bionicle collectors are in for an early treat. She also told me that sets from the "Hobbit" and "Ultra Agents" lines will be in the Summer "sales" in July. Quote

BionicleN17 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Skull Scorpio has much better poseability in this build. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 So, I grabbed some extra Skull Villains today and along with some extra silver Kaiju fins, I modded Skull Scorpio again, so now he has some bone bones on his legs! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/TheOneVeyronian/MOCs/70794_skull_scorpio_mod_version_2.jpg (had to upload to Brickshelf as Flickr is currently refusing to let me upload anything The picture's too large to deeplink by the way) I think this version is somewhat an improvement over my last version, but what do you think? Feet look good now but I think the transorange is a needed aspect, on the original set all the bohrok should have been transparent orange. But if that's not to your liking I'd swap those glow in the darks to normal ones at least and if possible change one of the technicliftarms, or basically anything on it's tail that is possible into trans or silver color. I don't mind it's that large but without brighter colors it just look's like it's slapped there and not part of the actual thing. Quote

The effect granted by the talon pieces and looks awesome, but I do think the lack of Trans. Orange hurts it. And now I can see more of why the actual set used those leg/tusk pieces instead—while less poseable, they add variety to the build and help the clawed arms stand out more. Even in this photo, the arms blend in with the legs to the point where the claws themselves almost look like another set of legs. Quote
DraikNova Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I like the new modded version. Sure, normal scorpions have legs as thin as the actual set, but considering the fact that this thing is human-sized, it would need larger legs. I'm just bothered by how the inside halves of the claws look larger than the talon-piece outside halves. Quote
TheDesuComplex Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Speaking about remaking Skull Scorpio... Here's my WIP revamp. Now, let me defend this. -The Skull Spider mask is based on my headcanon that Skull Grinder is using the Golden Skull Spider to control the Skull Army. -The humanoid form is also another idea I had, to make him distinct from the Lord of Skull Spiders. -He still has claws instead of normal hands, and I made his claws look like the entirety of his lower arms; he also has claw feet. -The 5L bones are a stand in for the bone-bones and 4L bones are a stand in for the 4L bones from the set. -The technic mechanism will be attached to his back via a balljoint so it can move around. Having read that, I realised I had enough spare Skull Spider legs in trans-orange to give Skull Scorpio back his orange pincers (thanks to me buying two extra Skull Slicers while I was in Brighton at the weekend) - I should have swapped them out but somehow I didn't think of trying it Speaking about remaking Skull Scorpio... Interesting take on Skull Scorpio there. I'll be interested to see how it looks when it's finshed. If you can, I suggest squeezing in some Spring Yellowish Green barbs somewhere to distribute that mask colour a little bit more Quote

If you can, I suggest squeezing in some Spring Yellowish Green barbs somewhere to distribute that mask colour a little bit more I'll see about it when Bricks and Pieces gets them in. I haven't used that service before and I am hoping that it will go well. I finally got around to throwing together an Imgur album of all my Skull Villain WIPs up to this point. Mainly of note is that I made Kulta a weapon that actually fits for his 'Grinder' title that I am quite proud of, the Skull Scorpio I mentioned a few posts back, and the fact that I have made a new villain to counter Gali. I am looking forward to finally getting the sets in hand, even if it may not be for a while for the majority of them. I am unsure about whether I will use the new armor add-on though. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Went and made some mods to Kulta and Skull Scorpio last night. Nothing major with Kulta, but Scorpio has pretty much been overhauled. Kulta Lowered and filled in the chest Added spooky back spikes Added extra friction to the shoulders Added friction joints to the knees Added a hilt and handle to the dagger Skull Scorpio Added poseable legs Added a poseable tail Condensed the snipper Lengthened the neck Edited July 23, 2015 by LewiMOC Quote
Mandate Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I don't care if the set version lunges forward by itself, you sir, deserve a cookie Quote
Logan McOwen Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) aw yiss I'm really pleased with that claw design. I'll probably end up using that a lot in the future. Edited July 23, 2015 by LewiMOC Quote
TheDesuComplex Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 You've cooked up a couple of ingenious solutions right there! Do you mind if I use those in my mods (with credit)? Quote
One Very Agile Cat Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) This is my Skull Scorpio "prevamp." Literally just a robot scorpion, as I don't own the set. The stinger, head, arms, and armour is all temporary. I just wanted to see if I could make it before I got the set. Though I don't plan to use the set's head. I figure that, rather than have the absurd mask-grabbing tail thing, I'd repurpose those parts into the claws. I also may add in another colour, depending on how it looks with the trans green of the set. Edited July 28, 2015 by One Very Agile Cat Quote
Leewan Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 The stinger is perfect here, it goes very well with the mechanical scorpion look of your MOC. That doesn't mean you should keep it, though, because the mechanical style will certainly clash with the organic aesthetic of Skull Scorpio. BTW, here's my own Skull Scorpio revamp with the new parts, as requested by wghost : I've just changed the eyes, the mask, the torso armour and the shoulder add-ons. And to be honest, I like the pre-revamp version better (you can see it on the first page of the topic), don't know why. Maybe because of the Skull Spider mask (I love this mask). Quote
Leewan Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Nope, silver would look awful on the legs, and although I could have used them as forearms, I decided not to so I could keep the black shells and the white spikes (hardly visible on the pic). You're not the first one to suggest this, actually, and I think a lot of people would have used bone bones. But they'd look out of place here, and it's not because I can use them that I have to use them. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 BTW, here's my own Skull Scorpio revamp with the new parts, as requested by wghost : Erm, didn't I also request to see your pre-revamp of Skull Scorpio with the bull skull mask right at the beginning of this topic? As I've said before, I like your revamped Skull Scorpio, I actually feel inspired to build something similar should I get a second Skull Scorpio (which is inevitable, I'm picking up a second Kulta vs Ekimu on Saturday and have doubles and even triples of the other skellies ). Does the tail pincer actually open and close by some sort of function or do the Technic links on the tail just serve an aesthetic purpose? Also, have you thought of adding the weapon parts found on Skull Scorpio's tail to this build? I hate to say it, but compared to his strong, bulky physique, his current tail pincer looks, erm, puny and unthreatening But that could be because I've got used to the set's ridiculous tail to the point where I actually kinda like it the way it is Quote
Leewan Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Erm, didn't I also request to see your pre-revamp of Skull Scorpio with the bull skull mask right at the beginning of this topic? Haha, yeah, I actually forgot that. Does the tail pincer actually open and close by some sort of function or do the Technic links on the tail just serve an aesthetic purpose? As you can see here, yes, it does open and close. Also, have you thought of adding the weapon parts found on Skull Scorpio's tail to this build? Yup, but I don't like the result, the set's blades are heavier, so it makes the mechanism a bit slower , and I think the kaiju fins look better : BTW, taking these pics was a good opportunity to try bone bones. They do look good, shape-wise, but as I expected, the silver clashes with the black kaiju fins. I'd need them in silver, but I only have five of them (and two of which are already on Scorpio's tail), so I'll stick to black bones. :) Quote
DraikNova Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I don't think it clashes. The silver actually helps break up the color scheme a little more. A solid blob of black at the end of each leg doesn't look that good. At any rate, your revamp is looking pretty good. Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Yeah, the blades don't look as good as I'd hoped there, but I had another idea: what about these?. But I actually don't mind the bone bones myself and silver kaiju fins would work better, but I think the black fins help to balance out the big blobs of black that is the Kaiju heads in this instance. Also, I just realised I don't really like how trans-orange looks when put right on top of trans-neon green, and I'm wondering if it could possibly work better with a black bone instead? p.s. one of your picture deeplinks is broken Leewan Quote
Leewan Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think you guys give too much importance to this MOC. A solid blob of black at the end of each leg doesn't look that good. This is why I prefer regular black bones to silver bone bones : I think completely black legs look better. Yeah, the blades don't look as good as I'd hoped there, but I had another idea: what about these? Also, I just realised I don't really like how trans-orange looks when put right on top of trans-neon green, and I'm wondering if it could possibly work better with a black bone instead? Thanks for the suggestion, the savage planet blades look good here. Black arms too. I've also tried silver legs : What do you think ? p.s. one of your picture deeplinks is broken Leewan Are you sure ? Because they all work to me. Quote
TheDesuComplex Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I've also tried silver legs : What do you think ? The silver fins look great with the bone-bones. I would suggest changing out the y-joints to some in dark grey, which might help. Quote
