Today I finished my bricklinked LEGO inside tour 2013 Villy or Willy Thomsen Truck. I already bricklinked and built the truck two years ago but could not finish it since I did not have enough information to make the stickers and also lacked the time needed to finish the job.

Unfortunately Victor Christensen had a bad cold today so could not make it and was replaced by a friendly other Danish driver Mario Olsen, with supposedly Italian roots ;)

Since I am in the process of selling our house I could not make a large display for it at this time (more space for that in the next house), but had a working traffic light setup from another project standing there so put the truck in there.

I choose to use white backing for the stickers instead of the original version from LEGO that uses transparant vinyl. Main advantage is a better colouring (thee match the bricks almost perfectly). Another disadvantage of transparant vinyl is that one can see small bubbles when covering LEGO with such (in LEGO terms) huge stickers. By using soapy water I was able to apply the stickers quite well. When the water and soap have evaporated the stickers are tight as they should be.

And an image from the back of the trailer.

Hope you like the images and this nice set. Since I could not find the minifigs I could also not make it into a real review, maybe some day in 2016 in our new house :)

To finish off, this shows you that the trucks fits in an average LEGO city although the driver will need to be skilled to make the turns!

Trivia: an original set was sold on bricklink for $ 2,954.75 but I think it costed me only around 100 bucks. Probably the most expensive part are the wheel rims in red and of course the figures.

Note: the story of the truck and it's driver can be found in the instructions that were published by LEGO as PDF file. I can't seem to find them at the LEGO site anymore though. I think it is a Mercedes but LEGO does not mention it and it doesn't carry the 3-pointed star of Mercedes-Benz (or did they photoshop it away for license reasons?!)

That is simply gorgeous. I want one, or possibly three. The crates of nice new kits are especially good.

Unfortunately if one opens them, they don't appear to contain real size sets haha ;) that would have been something. B.t.w. I think the 2013 and 2014 sets are great. 2012 is also not too bad, but what about the current one?! I would be disappointed after paying quite a large sum for the Inside Tour. They ask crazy amounts on bricklink for the 2015 one b.t.w. (I have seen prices of around € 5000).

I agree, 2012/13/14 all rock, but the 2015 one is disappointing. The 2011 one is pretty good, I do like big manufacturing machines. But I think this one is the best of them, closely followed by the 2014 train.

So cool looking, are the instructions up on any site ?

Brick On 'JopieK' !

I collected the pieces and built this a while ago - but does this mean you've got reproduction stickers for this ready for sale? Because I'll be all over them if you do :)

...aaand I just found them on your site. Ordered!

JopieK - incredible! Really glad to hear you've made the stickers available, thank you!

I was on the tour this year - while objectively many of the past years sets were more interesting (vt truck for instance) - receiving the set, hearing the story behind it, and realizing that I'll probably never unbox it anyway, all combine to make me still really appreciate it...

Anyway, truck looks great - I really hope to BL this, the legoland train, and the house one day

The instructions are here. There are on other sites too b.t.w.

@PastVPresent: glad to hear that you did enjoy the 2015 LIT set too!!

it looks wonderful!

This is my favorite Lego Inside Tour set that has come out. The train set is my 2nd favorite, but I LOVE this one.

Thanks for showing it off, and recreating the stickers for this.

You have done a really great MOC JopieK ...and I think that those boxes are the icing on the cake!

JopieK, you've done a great copy of one of my most favorite sets.

I'm also building this set. Though, I need stickers and I would like to order them from your site. Can you give me a link to it, please?

Just started bricklinking this, lost control, and ended up bricklinking 4000007 too....would be great if you end up offering stickers for that one as well...

@medib - thank you!

They are doable I think. But it is a peculiar color? Dark red?!

JopieK, that would be great! Bricklink and brickset both listed the color as red, not dark red, so that's what I ordered, hope I didn't make a mistake or will have lots of extra red bricks! Anyway, will try to post pics of both 4000007 and 4000008 once they're done

Wait this was an actual LEGO Product!?!?!? I want one of these so bad if it isn't too expensive anyone got an extra because honestly I have fallen in love with this truck!

Great pictures

...if it isn't too expensive...

It is too expensive. It was an extremely limited edition set given away to participants on the LEGO Inside Tour in 2013, and unlike some of the other sets (4000007, 4000014) which have also been used in limited runs for other purposes, this only exists in those few (80-ish?) numbers. Which is why people are piecing it together themselves, and why it's so nice that JopieK has made custom reproductions stickers available ;)

Haha, thank you ;) I enjoy 'cracking systems' as a teacher in informatics. But also like the set and already had the truck from bricklink for about two years, it is a very nice set indeed and without stickers it is not as appealing as with stickers in my opinion (but that is why I started with the stickers in the first place since this is also true for e.g. the 7750, ridiculous prices, it has some very special parts, but apart from that, paying 100€+ for stickers is something I can't understand, stickers are about the look, for the rest they also have a lot of disadvantages that can partially be solved by making them affordable).

Okay I may try and piece on of these together since it is so rare because this is a really amazing set and I have grown to love the set

Just finished bricklinking 4000007 and 4000008 (pic below) - the stickers really make the truck, great quality, thanks JopieK! This project was a lot of fun and much cheaper than finding/buying the sets new, highly reccomended!

I'll try to get the 4000007 too PastVPresent, they aren't that difficult, dark red is probably the hardest part to get right :) Looks very good!!! Such a 'rare' sets are very fun to have (I also like things like Tine / MD / Arla).
