Batbrick Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 I hate you for this trooperdavinfelth! >:-( Just Kidding :-D But thanks for that info, I think I might search out that double catapault. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
iamded Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 When the Viking line first came out I got the small Viking boat set and the set with the 'catapult' and red dragon. I took them to my mate in Wellington's house to show him, and he had all 5 of the sets. |-/ Still, it was cool and we had extra dragons. X-D I wonder what will happen when I take my new Castle sets down... I bet I'll out-own him in that! Ha! Now, I know 2008 Castle looks great, but I'm gonna have to choose between Indy and Castle. Maybe I could get the small Indy sets and focus on the Castle line, or the small Castle sets and focus on the Indy line... although I'll probably go back to Castle when we see all of 08's Castle sets. Mind you, by then we'll probably have hi-res pics of the Indy line... hmm... :-/ Quote
Batbrick Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Gee iamded! How's it been? Long time no stalk? :-D Yes I too must decide between Castle and Indy next year, but with any luck I think I might eventually get them both. I mean, I thought I would never find another Viking set but just yesterday I bought the Artillery Wagon, gosh It is good! *sweet* And good luck beating your friend to all the Castle sets! Still Stalking you! >:-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Wout Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Umm, you must be of this generation. A century ago, most women weren't even working. The only working women are widows or from extremely poor family. If you want to be as close to medieval times, then yes, women don't fight. They sit around and wait to be rescued by daring men. :-P although in fantasy medieval, we do have warrior women, like those you see in the conan films. :-P Well most women (peasants etc) were working on the land for food or make something to sell (cheese, pottery, clothes or something like that) The women who were in abbeys worked on getting people making better from sickness, or do things for the monastry. The women who were princesses, duches, ladies sometimes actually governs the shires were they live, especially if their husbands were in other countries fighting. Sometimes they led a resistance when the castle was attacked. The idea of women who are Damsels in Distress is a little bit romantic idea from the 19th century, although they have must existed. :-) Quote
Batbrick Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Geez! Talk about getting technical! :-D I still thought it was funny of Lego to make a Damsel In Distress. I hope to see more sets in the futre as oppsed to just catapaults and the like. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Wout Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I find the Damsel in Distress funny, the frightened soldier also, but women did something more then panicking ( although an army of death would be a good reason X-D ) :-) Quote
iamded Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 (edited) In all the KK series, there were never any Queens. Just a King. Now we have a Princess, but still no Queen! I'm still waiting for one. I find it strange how in the chess set the Princess is the Queen. (Can anyone say 'paedophilia'?) And the human Wizard with the undead Queen? (Can anyone say 'necrophilia'?) 8-| Edited September 16, 2007 by iamded Quote

I'm missing your point here. The Wizard is paired with his undead Queen because she died and he brought her back to life, more or less, rather than lose her forever. Ok, that counts as weird, but touchingly so. I wish I hadn't put it that way. As a side note, the Viking Queen is the only female represented in the whole line. A pity. Quote

Rather funny yet kind of tragic wizard story there. I like it how you made him a sympathetic villain! :-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Paradosis Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I'm loving the new sets. Everything that can be said has already been said, so I'm just going to be repeating, but fwiw my favorite aspects to the line are: good color scheme, lots of minifigs/horses, better set designs, and improved weapons/armor. Shakar Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 In KKI we had Queen Leonora and Princess Storm. The KKII Chess set features an aged Jing Lee from the Adventurers Orient Expedition as Queen. I'm missing your point here. Forgive this off topic observation, but is it just me or does Queen Leonora look almost as young as her daughter, Princess Storm? I'm talking about a difference of 4-5 years. Shakar Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Naw, not that much of a difference. I see at least 10 years apart. Just take the face and superimpose it on a human face, then color it flesh colored. You'd see a different picture. Quote
Shakar Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Looking at it again, you're right. Still, 10 years isn't enough...I still think Queen Leonora looks too young. Shakar Quote
iamded Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 That was KK? I always thought KK was the skittles knights, and that was the... King Leo vs the Bull people... line... Anyway, I can't see how I forgot that set, it has a queen and a princess, and I own it! *wacko* :-P Crazy. Anywho, I'd still like to see a Queen for the new Castle line. It would be neat. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Still stalking you iamded! And just to change things a little, it is no longer just stalking, we have entered a game of cat and mouse! With me the cat and you the mouse! *skull* Yes, a queen and more female minifigs is a must for 2008, but I will still be happy with the Princess, she is a great fig! *wub* Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Get it? Plastic surgery! HA HAHA *cough* :-$ Quote
