BJM Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I love it. Do you have a ball park estimate on how much you might have spent on just the bricks for the hanger? I do wonder on starting something like this... Quote
H_Solo Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Thank you! Costwise I think it settles somewhere around the 1.000 Euro area... I got all the black tiles pretty cheap at Legoland (around 3ct per piece) the other costly parts are the DBG 2x3, 2x4 and 2x6 bricks which you need in really great numbers... But those can be bricklinked new and cheap from time to time. I got almost everything in white, black and red already in my stock, so I "just" had to get the DBG and some of the LBG bricks... But make no mistake. This a really demanding project! It's about 8000 parts, 11 baseplates and a gigantic wooden plate to put it all onto + you'll need a 10179 handy to fill it up... Th3_ES Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Very nice one. What is the total weigth of the whole setup? Quote
Chills Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I love it. Such a great MOC; thanks for posting the additional pictures. I'm just sitting here scrolling back and forth through them. Quote
H_Solo Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 Thank you all! Very nice one. What is the total weigth of the whole setup? Can't say, really... I'd estimate it between 20-25kg with the Falcon and the baseplate... Quote
Archimedes Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 That is outstanding. It is perfect, wish I had the space, time, and money for that ha ha! Excellent work! Quote
Azrielsc Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Hey H_Solo, do you have the dimensions of the entire hanger please? I am planning to custom make a coffee table to fit my 10179 and want to see if I can make it in the size that, if I do embark on this, the entire hanger could fit inside. Mucho thanks! :) Quote
H_Solo Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 Hello and Thank you! I just measured the moc... 115x89,5x36cm Of course you can shorten it accordingly to yor needs, But I thought bigger is better! Quote
Azrielsc Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Hello and Thank you! I just measured the moc... 115x89,5x36cm Of course you can shorten it accordingly to yor needs, But I thought bigger is better! Thank you for that, H_Solo! It is definitely helpful to know the dimensions of the Hanger so that I can plan accordingly. I was initially thinking of a 100 x 100 cm square but I was unsure of the height as I do not want the height of the coffee table to be too tall and it cannot be too short, otherwise the MF cannot "swoosh" in. Can I please trouble you to help measure the size of the hanger entrance? I guess more planning is needed! :) Edited July 21, 2015 by Azrielsc Quote
H_Solo Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Sure thing... The inside of the entrance measures 77x26cm Edited July 21, 2015 by H_Solo Quote
Azrielsc Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Much thanks H_Solo! You have been a great help! Quote
Force Brix Studios Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Nice work! Definitely one of the best ways of displaying the falcon. Really puts it into context. Quote
jhaelego Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 The coffee table idea is brilliant. I may have to do that at some point. Quote
strider117 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Incredible MOC. The very best I've ever seen -- ever -- of this hangar, and really does fit the Falcon nicely. Is anyone else in total awe of the shelves in the background? Quote
H_Solo Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Thank you! Right now I'm toying with the idea of adding a right-hand wall to the scene, perhaps even a control room over the area where Vader and Obi Wan have their duel... Also as the scene is starting to collect some dust I think about getting it behind acrylic glass... But the scene is so big, that there are only few manufacturers to do something like that... And it comes with a price! Perhaps I have to that on my own. Quote
