"Sometimes, tragedies must occur for the rest of the world to prosper. Believe it or not, The Regret would've been the least evil being to try and consume the Lifespark, if the visions the boss has had are to be believed. It was best to allow his plan to follow through and be cut short at the decesive battle, then to swoop in and leave the Lifespark for an even worse person. Because at least with The Regret, he would've eventually ended your suffering.

Actions have consequences, beyond what you or I can really understand. And sometimes, we will let a thousand people die - or perhaps even destory a thousand - to save two thousnd people in the near future. It is a philosophy that is beyond the scope of human reasons. I do not expect you or want you to understand. From your perspective, it is absurd. But it's what is best."

"Why didn't we? Because you did." Charon shrugs. " We weren't neccasary then. My Master can see the future via visions, you know. And he saw The Regret would lose. Simple as that. We're not here to micromanage, or stick our nose into the case of every megalomaniacal freak with a messiah complex. We're here to prevent you from cocking everything up so badly, you, say, sink half a continent." Charon says his last few words with a definite edge. "That happened when we chose to give you the benefit of the doubt. Never again will that happen as long as we live."

Jinnipher scrunches up her face and shakes her head in disbelief. "Is nobody else hearing this? Am I the only one who has a problem with the fact that this guy claims to be a god? One that apparently controls the destiny of the world? There are gods and deities who grant chance and faith, but I control my own destiny. No one controls that. And I don't know of any gods who look or talk like this. This guy is a phony. I don't think we should trust him."

Give it a break my good sir, ya may think ya have influence, but ya'll soon find yer just in the dark as the rest of us." Skrall shrugged and plodded on.

"No one here is claiming to be a god, and no one here is taking away your destiny or your free will. You're trying to do in Moone what we've done for a while now: change history."

"I was referring more to our philosophy then understanding our plan. Our plan is to save lives more than we kill. Easy-peasy. A child could understand it. But understand wasn't the right word. I think "accept" would make more sense there, really.

Tell me, Skrall, where are you from?"

"Really, because that's what it sounds like. You're going to 'let' thousands of people of die or destroy them yourselves? Life is for the living, it's up to us how we want to destroy or save ourselves, not some spirit from another realm."

She considered for a moment.

"But if you have any bright ideas about annihilating that dragon, I don't care who you are. I'm all ears."

"I'm a spirit of another realm. You got that right. But the boss isn't. He was born in, raised in, had children in your world, and wants to see it prosper. He has every right to influence it, then, doesn't he?

Plans for annihilating him, hm. I hear stabbing helps.

Sau, you're a Moon Elf. You grew up in Moone, didn't you? You didnt live on nay sort of mountain, right?"

"I wish I was told this when I helped kill the prick." Karie shrugs. There was no getting through to this guy. Karie begins to observe her surroundings.

Eschaton was rather beuatiful. Karie's ponytail swayed in the pleasant breeze as she looked around. The sky was as clear as crystal, the stars sparkling a brilliant white. Lush, green - more of a teal, really - grass sways in the breeze, along with fields and fields of white flowers. Through the large stone obelisks, Karie peeks out and sees the land dipping down into a caldera of sorts, with stone pillars much like the ones lining this path - except several magnitudes bigger - surrounding it.

Jinnipher shrugged. "Sure, but it sounds like this guy's been around for too long to be any normal being. Even elves don't live that long."

"I tried that already."

Another shrug. "I'm from Mermont, born and raised. Why?"

She looked around the beautiful scenery, but didn't really seem to be taking it in. Her mind was deep in reflection about her days in Moone. Growing up in the city, learning to read and write, playing in the streets with her friends, her parents... She shook her head as she remembered what she saw in the vision. Sadness hovered on her face as she speculated where they may or may not be.

"Are you meaning to say that you're the one from the "Ennoc's Sword" story?"

NhqSeTs.png

"I had a cameo, yes... It was myself and the boss that made this place livable. Mostly the latter. There was no godly sword, but we were able to terraform this place well enough. If the worshipers of Ennoc want to take credit, then why not?"

Warlen stopped looking around at the mention of 'Meeting the boss'.

"Um, so, mr archangel. Look, I'm gonna be honest, as you'll be able to tell if I lie... you're terrifying. Just the fact that you exist... blows my mind. Talking about gods and thousands of years as if they were as everyday as a bottle of milk. Sure, I worship a 'God' but Eulalia is just a concept, a way of better making sense of everything. It... she's... they're... not real.

Right?"

"The flowers have the benficial properties of looking and smelling nice."

Charon chooses to let Jinnipher and Lind "discuss" things in their own way, turning to Warlen.

Warlen stopped looking around at the mention of 'Meeting the boss'.

Charon chuckles. I was not a malicious one it sounded like a laugh a mentor may give, before educating their student.

"I can't blame you. Gods exist in some shape or form. I served one. Does yours exist, though? That's the beauty of faith, Warlen. It's for you to choose. For as much as people preach about "following their faith", they're the ones who choose what to believe, aren't they?

Of course gods ang angels plain to me. I've walked amongst some very high profile individuals, I suppose you could say. Are there powers above me? Of course. I'm second in command here, after all. Are there powers greater than the boss? I can think of three of them that walk Olegaia, plus, y'know the Gods. Is there something above them? Who knows! That's the joy of faith. Asking questions, and molding your beliefs to them depending on the answer. Me, I have all of my questions answered. I can tell you don't. But there's still more than enough time left to pursue the answers you seek.

Does that help you out at all?"

"Oh, they're completely real.

NhqSeTs.png

"I see your Munchkin friend has many answers, Warlen. But time will tell if they're correct. Maybe they are! But maybe they aren't."

"As soon as you stop calling me 'Princess Jenny' then maybe I'll try to bother to remember what you call yourself. Maybe."

Jinnipher looked around some more, then sighed. "Look fella, it's great that you saved us from that dragon and all, not that I needed saving, but can we get to the point of all this? If you don't know how to kill it, then you should let us get back to Moone and do our jobs."

"...Somedays it's just nice to pause a moment, and take in some introspection on the greater scale. Vorpalis will be there when we get back-" Unless he's decided to go to Eubric and kill Faust. That could be a problem. Should I bring that up?

No, then it'll be "Lind, why'd you tell him where Faust was?!" "I didn't-" "Same thing!"...

And there are all those other heroes at the Hall. They should be able to kill Vorpalis if he goes that way. And he was chasing us, last time I checked. So...I mean, I guess we should hurry this up a bit - but no, time flows differently here. How long we spend in here doesn't affect time outside of this...garden? Whatever it is, it's a really nice place. Pity we don't have more time to spend here. I mean, the Forest is nice, but this place - it's just so peaceful. There's no secrecy, no anything. Just...peace.

It's a really nice place.

"-and we can take care of him then. Time flows differently here, if I understood correctly. Studying the situation in here - getting some background, and the like - isn't going to worsen it out there. There isn't time for it to worsen out there. Or not terribly much, anyways..."

"Yeah, and he'll have killed all the people on that island by then. I know you're the farthest possible thing from a professional, but try to take saving what's left of the continent seriously. Why didn't Vorpalis kill you when he had the chance? You must have annoyed him into submission."

"Southern Ennon originally, for the past 5 years or so, Eubric Freeport. So it all comes down to numbers then? Realism, something I can understand. Though why you're bothering to even spread this information when you have intentions of staying anonymous, beats me." The ogre paused at Lind's eloquent waxing and Jinnipher's questioning, "I'd think there wasn't enough meat nor conversation to satisfy the dragon."

"Yeah, and he'll have killed all the people on that island by then.

The Munchkin rolled his eyes. "...Let me try explaining it as I might to another human, of a few less years than you. Say, about seventy-two.

Time. Does. Not. Pass. The same. Here.

Going at a normal speed, this whole jaunt would have only lasted a "few seconds." With our conversation, it will have lasted perhaps - and I'm being generous - two "few seconds". Vorpalis is fast, but if he could kill everyone on the island in less than a minute, I'm pretty sure he would have done it by now."
