Jinnipher looked at Skrall incredulously. "We've been over this before, ogre. Revenge?! One deceitful king doesn't warrant the destruction of an entire country! Faust can be dealt with after this. But this dragon is as good as dead."

"Destruction of an entire country? Ya see what ya want to see, no one has been oppressed undeservedly. I'll admit we've seen horror and we've seen destruction, but the fault lies upon Faust for bringing it upon his own kingdom not upon Vorpalis. Ya wish to make amends and to right the wrongs, then humble yerself and admit yer fault."

"I've seen enough to know that this could get a lot worse. That creepy demi-being could show up again." Karie replies.

"And where will ya stand, Karie? Ya've been in Heroica long enough to know that we are not always privy to all the necessary details, ya know we've been wrong before. Can ya honestly side with Faust, contract or not?"

"You will have to forgive me for jumping to conclusions - you murdered two of my associates and impersonated them to infiltrate the city. And it appears that some of your compatriots have already drawn their swords..."

"An understandable reaction and were the truth plainly known, they would be here today standing by your side. As for my companions... they may not yet comprehend their error, but I ask for yer patience, we are too often people of war and not consideration."

The dragon's voice softens.

"I loved Mercution, you must understand. It was home. And Faust's recklessness and greed only cemented its fall from grace. Moone is really all that remains of its culture. And it pained me to see Faust taint it. But you are correct. When Faust's rule is fully wiped away - I know there is a few stragglers that will still cling to him, despite the disgrace he is, and my work here is not yet done. Mermont is done with Faust. But the other towns, spreading the news may incite rebellion. Some towns laid low if only because they thought Mermont would drive me out and slaughter me. The news of Faust's confession may only incite more rebellion, panic, and crime, a tragic fact of conquest. Faust's reign is over, and his supporters in Mermont are nearly gone. But there is other factors that need to be dealt with. But, yes - Moone will have to rebuild. And when all is said and done, I will ensure that that is the case."

At least if we complete this and I do revert back to what I was, I still have my reputation to fall back on.

I lived in Moone for four months before Vorpalis came. And it wasn't too bad. He's a liar, he's a deciever. But Moone was... functional. More so than Eubric."

I will be perfectly clear with you, though, that if I live, I will do what it takes to either kill or jail the other three who were supposed to be here; Eloen, Rydel, and Merlay. Perhaps even that scientist who designed that mist machine I destroyed.. That is fact I will not hide from you.

You mistake me for a republican or monarch. I am a dictator and conqueror by trade, hunter. And although th end result is worth it, the road of a conqueror is paved with blood. Blood I do not always relish spilling, but blood nonetheless.

"Do you know who goes about parading their power, Skrall? Tyrants. And Vorpalis is one of them if he's going to show off his power by executing someone in a public place. Why? Because he is in a position to abuse said power." Karie retorts. "You're siding with someone who instead of going about this in a peaceful manner has executed and destroyed villages that oppose him. You saw the destruction at the harbour, and you want to tell me that the dragon is right? For terrorizing and murdering people? Do you not see the problem of a Vorpalis controlling this area?"

"And where will ya stand, Karie? Ya've been in Heroica long enough to know that we are not always privy to all the necessary details, ya know we've been wrong before. Can ya honestly side with Faust, contract or not?"

Karie thinks for a moment on her situation. "I don't like the idea that we've been lied to, but when it comes to this situation, a dragon in control of a continent scares me, especially since his actions prove that he's capable of, and has done horrible things.

If you're backing out Skrall, get moving, because as much as I believe you're in the wrong here, I don't have the heart to kill you. Grab your things and go."

[Endgame]

Gabriel glances towards Jinnipher, nods, and then retrains his sights on the potential battle.

Karie thinks for a moment on her situation. "I don't like the idea that we've been lied to, but when it comes to this situation, a dragon in control of a continent scares me, especially since his actions prove that he's capable of, and has done horrible things.

"That is correct. I have my regrets. But this conquest is not among them.

Skrall. If the party decides to fight, I expect you to stand with them. A leader must never abandon their people, no matter the circumstance. That.... And it would be an honor to fight one such as yourself."

Seeing that the Steel Knife had bounced off Vorpalis's chest unnoticed and not wanting to loose it, Father Steve subtly picked it up and returned it to his pocket.

The closed his eyes for a brief moment and breathed a long sigh before stooping and rearming himself. "I will let you have Faust for he is yours by right, but I grant ya no more than that Vorpalis. Father Steve pulled Warlen close beside him and shoved Jinnipher in front of the two of them, to hide their conversation. He whispered furiously. "Warlen, you have to cast Sleep on Aeolus, now. Jinnipher, here's a Fire Bomb - use it to distract Vorpalis somehow, while I'm getting Faust out of here, or else your king is going to die. Warlen, I'm going to get up on that stage. While I do so, cast Darkness around me, like we did earlier with the corpses. Only this time, cast it until I'm off of the stage. Karie, I'm going to need you on the other side of that stage, to support me when I jump off it with Faust. He's too heavy to carry alone. Or Gabriel. Someone. And if this isn't a good plan, then tell me a better one. Because I'm not seeing it."

[Endgame]

"Dictators are the bastion of change, heroes. The only ones who can get anything significant done. Some of the greatest leaders and the most horrible monsteres were dictators. In my thousands of years, I have been both - but as I have said before, I regret nothing of this conquest."

Vorpalis stares piercingly at Gabriel.

Vorpalis throws back his head and lets out a deafening, earth quaking howl, his guards beginning their charge, the crowd descending even further into confusion...

Warlen gazed, outraged, at Vorpalis. He opened his mouth to say something, but the others said it all for him. Hastily, he attempted to cast sleep on Aeoleus, before sculling a Mead, Nostrum, Smelling Salts and Hurricane in turn.

Drawing out the pile of robes from the bottom of his pack, he pulled on the robes.*

"Vorpalis!" he yelled, holding up the hand his ring was on. "Do you remember your brother?"

*I should have the robes and ring equipped.

[Endgame]

"Yes. I remember him. Do you expect me to be mad? He died how he wanted to, and judging by the ring, he died at your hand.

In fact - I recognize you, Mystic Knight. We've met before, haven't we - before you ever set foot on Moone!

So I beat you, if memory serves, but you killed Lethauros, eh. You gave him the death he wanted - and for that, I thank you. But now I'll return the favor."
