Karie bit her lip as she witnessed Vorpalis come out of the fog.

essshYk.png

"Now you understand why I had to hold back in Mermont, yes?" hisses the dragon

"Um... yeah, this is my "probably underestimated you" face." Karie replies, clearly a little shaken.

"Um... yeah, this is my "probably underestimated you" face." Karie replies, clearly a little shaken.

Father Steve slowly raised his hand.

"All I know is that I came here to chew gum and kill dragons. And...I seem to have lost my gum."

Skrall glanced back at Lind, "Really? That's the one yer goin' with?" The hunter sized up the dragon, a little taller than the Titan and perhaps a little wider than the Kraken but certainly just as deadly. "Hope ya have a better plan if ya kill us Vorpalis, because ya ain't goin' to be able to stave off Heroica forever."

Skrall glanced back at Lind, "Really? That's the one yer goin' with?"

"Well, I already used my big, "Remember those messengers you killed, I've got a little message from them" speech - which no one noticed, by the way :hmpf_bad: - earlier.

Speaking of which...I never did deliver that message."

"After I take care of you, I doubt the veterans will send another. Face it, Skrall. You're mercenaries. Mercenaries for the greater good, but the fact is you don't do a job if someone doesn't put the money up for it.

But we've all heard enough speeches about higher causes and greater good and past sins by now. We all know what we're here for.

Let us begin!"

Vorpalis roars, letting out another burst of fog, and rushes into battle. The heroes draw their weapons, looking at their ancient adversary, knowing he was a force of destruction... The final battle was on!

Father Steve nervously targets Vorpalis Netherwing A from the back row with his Steel Knife.

"Madam Witch, I could really use a dousing with a Nostrum* - post-battle payment implied implicitely, of course.

Vorpalis...this fog...I've seen what it can do first-hand. It's not about glory or money here, or who ticked-off who, it's about survival.

That fog...it's going to destroy us, if Vorpalis doesn't slaughter us first."

10 damage when detonated, for example.) Special damage does NOT detonate the fog unless otherwise specified.

-The Puffy Machine has two different things it can do each round to counteract the fog (you can only choose one!):

1) It can create a protective cloud around the entire party, reducing that round's fog application from 4 to 2.

2) It can be used as a concentrated stream of mist, curing two specified heroes of the fog altogether.

OoC: Does Lind have to be operating it for it to work, or does it work automatically?
Tail Strike: Vorpalis eviscerates the hero who rolled Special Damage with his tail, havling their max HP for the rest of the battle.

How would this affect Lind's Encouraged effect? Would he have to go down to 6 health, approximentally, to keep it

*I asked Warlen originally because at that point the stats said that he still had two.

Posted

QM Note: Party leader simply has to specify what Puffy is doing (and if it is going with option 2, which 2 heroes to fully cure).

If you get hit with a Tail Strike, you would have to go down to approx. six health.

Karie's second action is to use a Nostrum on Lind.

Skrall downed a Smelling Salt and then leveled the giant hammer at Vorpalis's Tail, took a step back and swung. "Gabriel, Netherwing B from the back row, look lively." "We've met before. I know it for a fact - fought before, even. I killed your friend, didn't I? I remember a half elf just barely escaping with his life... and his friend was not so fortunate. If you are truly someone who I have dispatched before, let us see how your strength has grown over the years!"

Round One Versus The Vorpal Conqueror!

>Karie VS Vorpalis (back): Damage (80/2=40-2=38 damage)

>Karie uses a Nostrum on Lind (back)

>Lind VS Vorpalis Netherwing A (back): Damage Hit (12+21=33x2=66 damage, assasinated!)

>Skrall uses a Smelling Salt (back)

>Skrall VS Vorpalis Crescent Tail (back): Special Damage Hit (13+43=56+2=58x2/2=58 damage)

>Warlen casts Fragility on Vorpalis Feet (back): Success!

>Warlen VS Vorpalis Feet (front): Special Damage Hit (8+18=26x8=208 damage)

>Gabriel VS Netherwing B (back): Damage (55/2=28-4=24 damage)

>Jinnipher VS Vopralis Claws (back): Damage (Gabriel absorbs the hit: 20+31=51/2=25-4=21 damage, Gabriel is knocked out)

Karie tries to return Vorpalis's devasating power back at him, only to nearly have her arm chomped off. She uses her other arm to toss Lind a Nostrum, which he uses to great effect - the dragon's wingtalon lunges for the assassin, but the lucky boost from the medicine allows him to evade and throw his dagger. It punches a hole through the dragon's wing, rendering it useless. Skrall takes a whiff of some Smelling Salts and drops a hammer on the Crescent Tail, causing it to spasm. Warlen makes the dragon's feet fragile and then strikes it, while Gabriel is picked up and thrown by the dragon's remaining wingtalon. Jinnipher goes to slash at the claws, but they outmanuever her, nearly slashing at her throat - Gabriel jumps in and takes the hit, collapsing from his wounds.

Vorpalis spews fog, making the situation all the more dire...

OoC: I'm going to assume you rolled for Karie's Nimble and Jinnipher's Deflected Damage? Can you explain how you'd run the Fenghuang Essence? From the description it reads like once consumed everyone will get a free revive if they're knocked out at some point in the battle (not including those who are already knocked out like Gabriel), correct?

Skrall stows his hammer and draws back on his Composite Bow letting an arrow fly at the Tail from the back row, debating his second course of action. "Karie, ya going to be fine or do ya need some patchin' up?"

Posted

QM Note: I did not, but I just rolled for them and they did not kick in.

From the way I'm reading it, only the consumer gets a revived when knocked out... It refers to a target, not the full party.

As Vorpalis backs his head away, Karie promptly tosses her Love Potion at the head from the back.

"Alright, quick change of plans. If someone could give me a potion or something, I'd appreciate it."

Karie proceeds to attack Vorpalis from the back row.

"You have an odd habit of throwing odd things at me, Witch." hisses Vorpalis, black fog spilling out from his maw. "At least this one doesn't smell like rot..."

"Warlen, can ya handle that?"

"Gabriel..." she gasped. "You'll regret that, Vorpalis." She lunged at the claws again, from the back row.

"You're out of your league. Face it. Otherwise Gabriel wouldn't be taking a nap right now because of your lack of skill.

You can still run, you know. I don't have to kill you. Your loyalty to Faust must be shattered - you're ignorant if it's not. And that's the only thing I have to cleanse from Moone now. You can take your wounded and get the hell out."

Father Steve smirks at the successful assassination.

"Why run, when I can simply assassinate you?

You're a strong dragon, Vorpalis - no question. But times change. You aren't the strongest any longer.

And do you know what the strongest challenger does to the weak old title-holder?

He defeats him, and takes on his name."

Father Steve targets Netherwing B from the back row with his Darker Ethereal Deck.
