I'm in the middle, I don't really know if you could be a scum traitor trying to find the other scum members which could be likely or if you're just a bored townie.

Larry Larch here ^ (change your damn name), what exactly does a bored Townie look like? Tarden claiming boredom earlier in the day has never sat right with me but you seem to see it as the polar opposite of Scum traitor. Can you expound on your thought processes here?

I have changed my signature, I had to look for the settings option here on mobile.

I said that he could be a bored townie because of what he said in the DM with Brand, he could've been joking with him and looking for a reaction just to not get bored(I guess?). I said he could've also been the scum traitor because he wasn't showing any emotion when he DMed Brand and he did claim scum which meant he could've been looking for the scum team. Right now I'm pretty sure he could be town because I don't see why he would try to get recruited right before the game starts. Also, don't traitors usually get recruited near the end of the game? I don't know if that's how it's been before.

No, I understand that. Something about checking to see if he is actually Scum or just bored rings hollow. Bored? It just pings me. Especially coming from Tarden in the first place. Bored... When are you bored, Tarden? If you're ever bored, you stir things up. You go all cock-sure and crazy and say things like "I'm going to be aggressively Townie this game!" and poke people and send PMs. Bored. Scummy. Pingy. Oink. And you...um...Isaac?... That can't be right. Whoever, Larry, you accepting boredom as the other possibility of appearing to be a traitor.

Let me say another thing about this traitor business. I asked that based on the paraphrased conversation I got from Brand and Brand replied something non-committal about being what he was asking me. Now he's several time tried to paint it as my idea that Tarden is a traitor. And Patrekr has a great point and I said something about it earlier where Brand PMed me thinking I was Town after saying he was the most suspicious of me, in-thread. And Brand is the only person to email me at this point. I guess killing everyone in Unrest in the Forest finally ended the trend of everyone claiming to me on Day One. I feel lonely.

That was a bit of rambling. Too much pig–milk–mead.

TheLazyChicken: I have simply doing other things... mainly cooking, in any case, I apologise I haven't been active. I'm interested in of use of the word "corrupted", why would I be? I am loyal, the mere fact I was not active means nothing.

As for my vote, Brand, irrespective of whether there is a bandwagon or not your behaviour is nothing short of bizarre, Vote: Brand (Brickelodean)

Wow, so much to read over!

As I consider that Brand has been wasting our time all day by overreacting to what was obviously a simple joke, and will certainly continuearrow-10x10.png to annoy us in a similar way for the rest of the game I will;

Vote: Brand(Brickelodeon)

Ping. You are simply aping what Pudding-Head suggested in the post above yours, and making it worse by suggesting that being "annoying" is a better reason for a lynch than being Scummy.

It jut seems like the kind of thing an experienced scum does to quietly try and get the spotlight off of an ally who's slipped up, a position I've been in many many many times.

Can you please clarify who the "ally" is in this theory? Brand, or Mist, or someone else?

Well if you want a definite answer, then I'm leaning towards you being a town member. I went back through some of the other pages and you made a valid point when you said this;

What you said was true, there isn't any reason to get recruitedarrow-10x10.png before the game starts so as far as I know, you seem like a townie to me.

Another ping. You're accepting him as town just because he might not be the traitor, let alone scum? That's an awful point. It's suspiciously similar to a Scum in a cosplaying dream I recently had, who "accepted" his buddy as town for a completely asinine reason.

That's a hard and fast rule? Any defending others indicatesarrow-10x10.png both are scum?

Absolutely not. However, it is often the case that scum defend townies on Day One in a "white knighting" process. Therefore, one can conclude that someone who goes over-the-top in defending others on Day One is a likely scum, whatever the other player's alignment.

I personally feel like his interactions with Pudding Head were pretty genuine and would be hard to fake

I'm fairly sure of this as well. However, it is not a reason for Brand's towniness, only that Brand and Pudding are probably not scum faking a PM together.

Wasn't aware that I needed to vote, Pudding-Head. If it wasn't clear from what I said, which you clearly took to have little value, I don't feel particularly confident in the lynch of either Mist or Brand, who are clearly the two main focal points of today. That's why I didn't vote. I figured that was fairly obvious, and the idea that there was some expectation for me to vote despite having clear reservations interests me. That being said, I do think the Brand scenario is our best lead, and his lynch does seem to be the most realistic, so I am willing to place a vote there.

"I'm bandwagoning, but I'll say I'm not really committing to it so I won't look too bad when he flips town".

Can you say a bit more about What is it in his behavior that is so strange!?

Did you skimread his whole post or what? He quite clearly posted quotes to support his points.

You ain´t voting for him just because of that he hasn´t got his rolename in his sig, that voting reason his even lamer than what is on me.

You honestly think he was being serious???

Tarr, where are you? You haven't posted at all... :hmpf_bad:

You could be a corrupted watching from the sidelines as well, because from looking at your profilearrow-10x10.png, it says you were active today...

Vote: Tarr Egg-Chaser (Tariq J)

Everyone else is discussing, arguing and getting reads. You, however, call out a lurker and waste your vote. Looks like you're trying to distract us and change the subject...

I guess killing everyone in Unrest in the Forest finally ended the trend of everyone claimingarrow-10x10.png to me on Day One. I feel lonely.

Totally. I'm never claiming to you Day One again  But actually, thanks for being underhanded. You taught me not to be so trusting of others

So many people are on my suspicions list right now! Lambi, Toki, Cranebeinn, Lodmund....but my vote will remain on Mist for today.

Pingpingpingpingpingpingping (of Lambi). Here's hoping that this is just calling Tarr out, trying to get him to post. If not...welp, if Brand turns up scum, then it might not bode so well for you.

I didn't interpret Lambi's post in that way. It was posted shortly after Cranebeinn got a few votes and some suspicion. It seems more likely that Lambi was attempting to divert attention from Cranebeinn than from Brand. Besides, Brand already has more than enough votes to lynch him. Even if Lambi's tactic was successful, it would be unlikely to divert more than two or three votes away from the Brand lynch. So I think this is more incriminating of Lambi/Cranebeinn than Lambi/Brand.

What? :look: You're not confident in our best lead and the lynch seems realistic? I'm not familiar with this concept: what makes a lynch realistic, exactly? :sceptic:

As I had said, I don't feel confident in the Brand vote, but his lynch is the most realistic - as in, at the time of that post, most likely to happen. Based on the way people were voting, a Mist lynch, which was our next best option, did not seem like it was a realistic goal given Brand's penalties and votes previously cast against him.

"I'm bandwagoning, but I'll say I'm not really committing to it so I won't look too bad when he flips town".

I find this interesting how you call me out. My vote can be considered bandwagoning, sure, but I made it explicitly clear before that I didn't feel confident about Brand's affiliation. Not only that, but I've acknowledged that he is our best lead. I'm committed to lynching Brand. Otherwise, I would have held my vote off a little bit longer and made it even more clear that I didn't like the Brand lynch. If I didn't want to lynch Brand, I simply wouldn't have voted for him.

I hate to be one to repeat things, especially since I just refuted one of his statements, but Dar's pointing out of Lambi had me sharing the same sentiments. I want to know why Lambi seems so intent on talking about Tarr, suddenly changing the subject away from Brand and Tarben, or even Mist.

Fair enough. But gut feelings on day one probably go wrong.

You just keep watching me, it is amusing.

My gut feeling says maybe Brand or any of the other (don't remember any names, I never do on day 1)

I've always wanted to learn how to speak Mencot. Alright, Mist, explain a few things to me. To what "gut feelings" are you referring? Are these your gut feelings, or someone else's? When you say, "Brand or any of the other," does this mean you think that "Brand or any of the other" are scummy? Who are "any of the other?" Are you actually saying that anybody in this game could be scum? How does saying that literally anyone could be scum help anyone or reveal what you're thinking at the moment? Pings out the megablocks here.

Posted

This entered my mind earlier and I can't remember if I posted the theory but it's possible Brand and Tarden are both Scum and started a fake PM to throw us off later. This has been a common Scum tool in the past (ahem ) but if that is the case here, Brand got over–excited and blew his fake–PM–load and didn't know how to handle me posting it. Why would someone be so adamant about not accusing someone of being Scum, just being suspicious of them. I'm still stuck on how weird all of that was...

Just have to ask at the time you told us about Brand and Tarden, did you think there were good chances that Tarden was scum or a recruit? If you really thought he was a possible recruit, wouldn't it have been better to not post in thread?

Is the post an inactive scum makes at the end of day one when they want to slide past the fact that they've done nothing.

Weird thing is that last game he had me rather convinced he was town, but he ended up being scum.

So is this his town game?

Scum, scum, scummy Munud!

Can you say a bit more about What is it in his behavior that is so strange!?

You ain´t voting for him just because of that he hasn´t got his rolename in his sig, that voting reason his even lamer than what is on me.

This sudden defense of my son sounds so strange, especially since it's clear that you've not been reading the posts regarding it at all.

It could be scum trying to defend another scum or it could be scum trying to associate himself with an under-pressure townie, but whatever it is, it is scummy as Hel.

Okay (not ok-ey) didn´t see that post.

No kidding! :hmpf:

Piggy head, Are you again trying to get ride of me on day 1 again. Because "you don´t wanna need suposedly "explain" stuff to me"... or what was the metagame excuse you used when you killed me in the last game we played.

What and then you just switch the topic to something different and completely unrelated? Why are you bringing this up anyway?

Fair enough. But gut feelings on day one probably go wrong.

You just keep watching me, it is amusing.

My gut feeling says maybe Brand or any of the other (don't remember any names, I never do on day 1)

Wow! That shows a lot of commitment. :hmpf:

What are you talking about here anyway? Are you talking about who you think will get lynched or you think is scum?

Either way it's an incredibly lazy comment.

No. If he is a traitor, which I doubt, and the Scum recall him or recruit him or whatever tonight, none of it happened in private. Every player is aware of the possibility. I feel that information is better for everyone. Do you think Tarden is free of scrutiny now? Do you think he's actually a traitor? How would it have helped to keep that information private? Townies with Night Actions have someone to check due to the suspicious behavior Tarden and Brand were engaging in behind the scenes.

Just in case it wasn't clear, by the second part I meant that it's possible that, if Cranebeinn is town, that Mist could be trying to associate Cranebeinn with himself to put Cranebeinn under more pressure.

Not sure if it came out quite right the first time. :look:

Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

I don't think Tarden is a traitor. I think I said so before now. He certainly could be scum though and Canute pointed out some good things regarding him.

The initial reason I thought it might be good to keep it private if you thought he was the traitor, was so that the scum wouldn't be able to find Tarden, but I guess it wouldn't really have made a positive difference to keep it private.

So is that it? 4 votes still haven't been cast, but from the looks of the conversation (or lack thereof) everyone seems to be pretty content with letting this lynch ride.

Well, I still think the Brand lynch is a mistake. Nope, he hasn't always been coherent or logical in everything, but it felt to me more like a floundering townie than floundering scum. (I've been both)

The one thing that actually stood out to me in all of this as a scummy action was Cranebeinn's deliberate misquote of Jarl. Jarl was obviously poking at him about his sig and that wasn't the reason for his vote, but Crane edited the quote in a way to be misleading in his response. So,

Vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (Chromeknight)

I'm going to Vote: Mist (Mencot). Between Mist and Brand, I find her to be the more suspicious. Brand has certainly done a lot ping my scumdar. I've pointed out much of what puts me off about him in earlier posts. I have not spoken as much about Mist, so I want to explain my reasoning a bit more clearly here.

Brand has been acting scummy, but his much-discussed conversation with Pudding Head reads flailing townie to me, which has caused me to turn to some of our other suspects of the day. I'm not super pinged by Mist's Freudian slip early in the day - Mist has never been the most attentive or sensical player, and I don't entirely blame her for not reading the optional recap too carefully. However, her defense of Cranebeinn, as has been pointed out by several others, is blatantly scummy. She's posted a fair amount, but none of it has been helpful, and she's failed to voice her own suspicions to the town. As I mentioned before, I've never known Mist to be reliable, and I don't think I know her scum game, which could explain her uselessness, but I think that makes her sudden defense of Cranebeinn that much more suspicious.

Why is someone who's done nothing but post gibberish, mix up the game's factions, and evade questions gone out of her way to defend another player? That's unusual, and to me it smells like a scum who's been trying to fly under the radar.

Oh, Thor's Thundering Trousers! I avoid this thread to deal with other stuff for one day.... 11 pages. I never meant to be a lurker. :cry_sad: Also, where are the damn dick jokes? Or do those typically come later. I'm so confused. :sadnew: Ok, all, sorry for the wall of Text!

Good Thor, two pages already...

I know that feel, man.

Either you've had a brain fart or you're trying to subtly say you've got some desire to reach Valhalla alone and (vigilante) kill the rest of us.

That's a stretch.

I find this comment extremely troubling. Perhaps I am misreading your intent, but I do not think this is the case. I have never before seen somebody attempt to out someone as a vigilante on the first day. What are you trying to achieve here? What is the meaning of this remark?

I shall be watching you closely, Cranebeinn.

Oh wait... Someone agrees with me.

Then a lot of people did. And then that seemed to go no where. Forget the mixing up of Serial Killer and Vig, the reading into a fluff comment is what really 'pings' me. maybe this is just a Noob move, though... Or maybe a noob scum move? Hard to ever tell the difference. :sceptic:

Can you help us find the hidden Serial Killer outing message in that? I doubt a Serial Killer would leave us a code but I see nothing in there for you to base such an accusation off of. Can you explain that, Cranberry Brain?

I did last game... In the form of Hannibal quotes!

Last thoughts? Do you mean to imply that he’ll simply die of old age? Or be murdered at the hands of scum like yourself? :hmpf_bad::wacko:

The murdered part. Obviously. :sarcasm:

Is he? I thought he was obsessed with what Jarl said. Can you point out where he's obsessing over Mist?

Tarben is bored everyone and he only has town–reads on people. That's what he told me by PM after claiming to Brand in private that he is Scum.

Now you might be less bored, Tarben!

I can confirm that Tarben was bored. Or at least that I was being boring. :sadnew:

The really weird part about it is that Brand messaged me before the ordeal even started. I remember having a dream that he was a tree and I got him cut down, and then I was a clown and he got me killed, but I'm not sure we're on "message immediately" standards. I'm happy to help a guy out, but not before he's even posted.

You mean like us? So what we have is special? :grin_wub:

I see a few lurkers around. Do you have any reactions at all to the current events? It would be nice to get a wider range of opinions here.

Nope. No reactions. None.

:hmpf:

If you’ve actually read the thread, you can see that I did go back and ask a few questions about some earlier posts. And no one can really have concrete suspicions on day one. Maybe I don’t feel like sharing what few, vague suspicions I have this early on. I have stated before that I find the interactions between Brand and Cranebeinn to be quite odd. Same can be said of this weird Pudding-Head/Brand/Tarben thing that’s going on.

You got pretty defensive there. :look:

Anything Brand has said all day.

Wow, you do like digging holes a lot for a fire giant... sure you're not an earth giant instead? :look: As far as I'm concerned, you're either scum who couldn't keep a straight story (and probably pissing off your scum team), or a townie who hasn't quite gotten the hang of the game. No offence intended, of course.

So this happened. You said you weren't defending him but were trying to "throw suspicion on him", but the the bit where you say "it was probably just an honest mistake" sure sounds like a defence to me. So why are you telling Cranebeinn what he meant to say? And when asked about the throwing of suspicion, apparently it's so that others scrutinise him, not to... throw suspicion on him, as everyone else here would probably understand it.

That is a damn good point.

Trust me, if I were scum I would had done a better job then this what has happened here today.

I'm inclined to believe this. I don't know much about her personally, but I know that I wouldn't make such an obvious slip up if I was playing scum. Particularly a first timer too. My first time I got so nervous I threw up. Just ask anyone involved. It really happened.

Help me understand something. You messaged Tarben, and he sent you what was essentially a one-sentence response saying, "I'm scum." From that one message, what made you think that he was a townie traitor looking to get recruited? In my mind, "I'm scum" and "I'm a traitor, please recruit me" are fairly unrelated. If he thought you were scum and capable of recruiting him, what could he possibly have gained by telling you that he was scum? Why not say he was a traitor?

Yeah, especially considering that Tarben would understand that a scum viewing that comment would only laugh at its inaccuracy. Not that Brand likely thought that far.

This is most likely a scum strategy to seem helpful while not saying anything.

True. Very true. But also that may not be true. It is debatable, the truth in this statement. Could be false. But it could be true.

pong

ping

This was all good. Early acusasions are essential to monitor how people react and he seemed to analyze the results properly. Here's what I didn't like. Last night after the initial accusation seemed to fizzle out he messaged me apologizing for the accusation. There was no need for this as everyone accuses early on but I appreciate the gesture. But in the message he stated something along the of that he was going to accept me as town (not a direct quote by I invite Cranebeinn to correct me if I changed the meaning). As I mentioned above, the only people who know who is town and who isn't are the corrupted, so I was really bother by his willingness to accept me as town. I actually told him as much, at which point he adjusted his initial comment by saying he might accept me but it doesn't mean he trusts me. I responded that it was fair enough and that has been the extent of our conversation. Now this isn't the worlds biggest ping, I'm just bothered by his willingness to call me town simply because I held up under the "weight" of his accusation. I figured I'd present it to the rest of you once I got ahold of my computer.

As for this whole current line of voting, does anybody get the feeling that this would be far to bold of a mistake for scum on day 1? That's why I'm searching a bit more in the shadows. And Cranebeinn if I've misrepresented our conversation in any way, please correct me. I'd hate for this to go the way of the earlier PMs simply because two people read the same words and saw different things.

This does kind of ping for me. What Townie in his/her/their right mind accepts someone as a Townie that easily?

Is it hasty of me to immediately want to vote Munud?

I'd say damn near everything that's happened "Today" has been hasty, but that's how all Day 1s are.

And then there was like 2 additional pages of conversation that I did not directly quote.

Ok, wow. That was a lot, and it looks like I've actually been away for 2 days, and not the 1 I originally thought it was.

So, I personally doubt Mist's "slipup" was a freudian slip. I guess you can chalk that up to gut, but I just don't see it. Her comments haven't exactly been useful though, but who am I to judge that on a day like this.:sceptic:

Brand will die regardless of where I cast my own vote, but let me just say that his silence is really confirming the suspicions for me.

I'm going to vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (Chromeknight). Apologizing for suspicions is suspicious. Saying you'll accept someone as town on day 1 is a major ping.

Shall I give people a lesson in etymology?

'I believe' can be read at least three different ways.

At the lowest level, it's a taking notice of.

Or 'I believe' you think it is true you are town.

It could be assent to the statement

'I believe' you are town (but I'm not going to act on that belief).

It could be wholehearted trust.

'I believe' you are town, so I'm going to tell you my role and share all my information with you.

Clearly I didn't ' believe' Jarl's town assertion in that third sense in messaging him. I shared nothing with him. My belief in him sits somewhere between the first and second senses. I know he thinks he's town. Given more evidence I too will think that. How might I gather that evidence? Surely messaging him is a reasonable step.

As for apologising, either my accusation is so slight and a stretch that stepping back from it is reasonable, or it's unreasonable to apologise because the accusation is a sensible move.

All in all it seems you've decided I'm scum and are stretching for evidence.

Sorry, but what's all this fluff about "belief" , The lynch has almost been reached, yet you are acting as if every player is turning against you. No-one has decided you are scum, you’re just acting suspiciously.

I've played two games previously with Mist, and in both games she's been behaving oddly, but in this one her behaviour has read as scummy, not just as "typical Mencot". She doesn't have a scum game because she's never been scum before, so I find her behaviour similar to that of a first-time Scum.

I know he thinks he's town. Given more evidence I too will think that.

Wow.

"I know he thinks he's town". If Jarl is scum, then he knows he's not town. If he's town then he knows he's town. So how can think his alignment? Also, you seem awfully sure that he is town in that second sentence.

Shall I give people a lesson in etymology?

'I believe' can be read at least three different ways.

At the lowest level, it's a taking notice of.

Or 'I believe' you think it is true you are town.

"It could be assent to the statement

'I believe' you are town (but I'm not going to act on that belief).

It could be wholehearted trust.

'I believe' you are town, so I'm going to tell you my role and share all my information with you.

Clearly I didn't ' believe' Jarl's town assertion in that third sense in messaging him. I shared nothing with him. My belief in him sits somewhere between the first and second senses. I know he thinks he's town. Given more evidence I too will think that. How might I gather that evidence? Surely messaging him is a reasonable step. "

Sorry, but what's all this fluff about "belief" , The lynch has almost been reached, yet you are acting as if every player is turning against you. No-one has decided you are scum, you’re just acting suspiciously.
