Defensive? No, I know I'm town, so I know that votes for me are not useful for the town. I'll keep arguing that votes for me are in the wrong place. To do otherwise, to just give up and accept the truth of the accusations would be to do the wrong thing for town.

Frankly, Tariq, telling me to shut up and sit down because I'm not in danger is an anti town move there. What's the word?

Ping!

"I know he thinks he's town". If Jarl is scum, then he knows he's not town. If he's town then he knows he's town. So how can think his alignment? Also, you seem awfully sure that he is town in that second sentence.

Dude. I wasn't talking about what he knows. Sure if he's scum he knows he's scum.

But I don't know what he is.

I know he tells me he's town. I don't know if he is or isn't. Gameplay will make that clearer maybe (but yes, maybe it won't).

I do know there is a truth of the matter out there. I know he knows what that truth is. I know he could lie to me about what that truth is. I know that when the game ends (or maybe sooner) the truth will be revealed.

I will listen to him when he tells me he's town (I'm not going to block my ears and shout scum!scum!scummy!scum! at him). What I'm not going to do is trust him until I have reason to do so.

PS. Do I get in trouble for editing your quote down too?

What?! How on earth could my post be interpreted as me telling you to shut up and sit down, I'm not telling you to do anything, I was merely pointing out you were acting over defensively for someone who is highly unlikely to be lynched. And how was my post "anti-town"? I too know I am town and I was making an observation based off your town.

Brand has already effectively been lynched today. The majority of people are not voting for you. Why are you acting so defensive about this? You’re just making me more suspicious of you than I was before.

(This was referring back to Cranebeinn's response to a couple votes on him). And I second this. If you're town, a couple votes on you are irrelevant when it takes 12 to lynch. no need to panic. Scum panic because they're worried about getting lynched. Townies can let a few accusations and votes be ignored if they're really baseless.

PS. Do I get in trouble for editing your quote down too?

No, because when you edited down Dar's comments, you left the relevant parts intact. You didn't change the meaning of what he said like you did back with Jarl.

But I'd argue I didn't change the meaning of Jarl's comment. He did intend the lack of name in the sig as a reason for the vote. That's what he included the AND in the sentence (which yes, I removed). Anyone who thinks it was Jarls only reason isn't reading the thread properly. It was the only reason I though worth commenting on.

As for defensive, clearly my playstyle is being read that way. But I'm not apologising or changing. I'll continue to interact with accusations and demonstrate their baselessness, incoherence, or in the case of sig namelessness, their utter stupidity.

Shall I give people a lesson in etymology?

'I believe' can be read at least three different ways.

At the lowest level, it's a taking notice of.

Or 'I believe' you think it is true you are town.

It could be assent to the statement

'I believe' you are town (but I'm not going to act on that belief).

It could be wholehearted trust.

'I believe' you are town, so I'm going to tell you my role and share all my information with you.

Clearly I didn't ' believe' Jarl's town assertion in that third sense in messaging him. I shared nothing with him. My belief in him sits somewhere between the first and second senses. I know he thinks he's town. Given more evidence I too will think that. How might I gather that evidence? Surely messaging him is a reasonable step.

As for apologising, either my accusation is so slight and a stretch that stepping back from it is reasonable, or it's unreasonable to apologise because the accusation is a sensible move.

All in all it seems you've decided I'm scum and are stretching for evidence.

While your giving etymology lessons, you might give one on the word accept. When you messaged me you said you accepted me as town, not you believed I was town.

But I'd argue I didn't change the meaning of Jarl's comment. He did intend the lack of name in the sig as a reason for the vote. That's what he included the AND in the sentence (which yes, I removed). Anyone who thinks it was Jarls only reason isn't reading the thread properly. but you oh so clearly did change the meaning! Let's look again at what was said...

You missed one in post 224. Add mine to it.

vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (chromeknight)

For the suspicions I gave in post 205...and because he doesn't have his name in his signature

On a day when I think our lynch is more convenient than convincing, Cranebeinn's actions are more akin to what I'd expect scum to be doing day one.

vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (chromeknight)

...because he doesn't have his name in his signature

Bwhahahahahaaaaaaaa!

Oh. Man. Bestest reason ever!

Fixed.

You had to deliberately go into the quote and remove what I said from the middle. Now you're defending yourself by saying that you "didn't change the meaning of my comment" but you so clearly did! My vote was based on the message I received and what felt like fishing. The signature comment was added so you'd think to do it (and it worked, thanks :classic:). Others recognized this:

(Snip)

You honestly think he was being serious???

(Snip)

Well, I still think the Brand lynch is a mistake. Nope, he hasn't always been coherent or logical in everything, but it felt to me more like a floundering townie than floundering scum. (I've been both)

The one thing that actually stood out to me in all of this as a scummy action was Cranebeinn's deliberate misquote of Jarl. Jarl was obviously poking at him about his sig and that wasn't the reason for his vote, but Crane edited the quote in a way to be misleading in his response. So,

Vote: Cranebeinn the Redder (Chromeknight)

Note: emphasis added by me.

This all seems pretty clear to me, but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

If anyone needs me I'll be in bed, seems like the lynch is a lock anyway.

I've always wanted to learn how to speak Mencot.

I don´t think we have played so many games that you can say this... But I will answer you, You won´t never understand, why would I allow it, then you would know my bad technic and style. :purrr:

Wow! That shows a lot of commitment. :hmpf:

What are you talking about here anyway? Are you talking about who you think will get lynched or you think is scum?

Either way it's an incredibly lazy comment.

So your saying I am lazy? You are right but if you would know better that is my day 1 play, I am always lazy. Look at the past 4 games day ones and compare, nothing new or I could say that I have almost made an effort in this game  (compering that is)

This is day one I know, but talking about lazy commenting, if someone wanna look at those: Dagstyrr 2 (Darkdragon), Laura 3 (Lady K), [Petrus(Pandora) and Tarr(Tariq J) 4 each. But Pandora and Tariq J has had some contents in their comments.]

What I have gotten from this day, I am still confussed about Brand and Tarben´s little pre day 1 play. Why would they do that, why would tarben contact Brand any way with that info?

Why would anyone joke about something like that! There is something behind this and if Brand would be town (I have a hunch that he will turn out town) he screwed it up in telling us others about this. And he can´t blame anyone else about his lynch.

Still to anyone thinking I did defend Cranebeinn, I didn´t mean to defend him and when i read through my comments I don´t understand why anyone would get that I did from what I commented. There is no defence anywhere! Nothing to speak for him in a good or bad way in my comments.

The only thing was that i asked why these people voted this way, maybe, yes I had missed their reasons when I skimmed through the many pages of comments.

Ok, here's what I been thinking about. Yesterday you may recall that Cranebeinn the Redder made a slight accusation towards me being the serial killer. Being day 1, this accusation was as well founded as any other so it doesn't bother me much. Later he posted this when asked if he still held those views:

This was all good. Early acusasions are essential to monitor how people react and he seemed to analyze the results properly. Here's what I didn't like. Last night after the initial accusation seemed to fizzle out he messaged me apologizing for the accusation. There was no need for this as everyone accuses early on but I appreciate the gesture. But in the message he stated something along the of that he was going to accept me as town (not a direct quote by I invite Cranebeinn to correct me if I changed the meaning). As I mentioned above, the only people who know who is town and who isn't are the corrupted, so I was really bother by his willingness to accept me as town. I actually told him as much, at which point he adjusted his initial comment by saying he might accept me but it doesn't mean he trusts me. I responded that it was fair enough and that has been the extent of our conversation. Now this isn't the worlds biggest ping, I'm just bothered by his willingness to call me town simply because I held up under the "weight" of his accusation. I figured I'd present it to the rest of you once I got ahold of my computer.

As for this whole current line of voting, does anybody get the feeling that this would be far to bold of a mistake for scum on day 1? That's why I'm searching a bit more in the shadows. And Cranebeinn if I've misrepresented our conversation in any way, please correct me. I'd hate for this to go the way of the earlier PMs simply because two people read the same words and saw different things.

This is something I had totally missed... So lynch me! :sarcasm_smug: But I don´t see the part where I Actually defend him yet.

The day drew to a close, and the survivors of Ragnarok had decided that Brand (Brickelodeon) would not be joining them on their boat-ride to Valhalla.

"Any last words?" asked Herburt Marred-Eye.

1_zpsu7rrmliq.jpg

"I abandoned my kin to study your ways. You showed me kindness and compassion. You accepted me as one of your own. You let me eat and drink and fight with you. But now, you cast me aside at the first opportunity. You penalise me for revealing private conversations. You vote for me for saying odd things. Over the course of this day, you have all helped me to come to a conclusion about humankind..."

2_zpsiia1i8x5.jpg

"... You are a boring race."

With that, Brand drew his sword and embraced his jotunn heritage.

3_zpsbmizvsfv.jpg

Soon, the hall was engulfed in flames as Brand unleashed the chaos and destruction he had repressed for so long.

"Vote me out, will you?! I'll show you how to vote someone out! HA HA HA HA!"

4_zpshj4s7xey.jpg

"You know what? We can probably squeeze an extra passenger onto that longship..." Herburt Marred-Eye conceded as he watched his family hall go up in flames.

5_zpsq2krtwos.jpg

"I didn't sign up for this," Lifthrasir sighed, "come on Lif, let's just stay in the woods until this all blows over."

And with that, Lif and Lifthrasir left.

6_zpsqhfdsxuv.jpg

Amidst Brand's fury, Kára regained her composure.

"Water!" she shouted, "use the water! Pour the barrels on him!"

7_zpsozci2zxi.jpg

Rallied by Kára's cries, the warriors of the hall proceeded to gather the barrels of water and splash them on an angry Brand. The rest of the einherjar then began to attack him with their plethora of weapons.

"Arrgh!" cried Brand, "water and sharp objects! My only two weaknesses!"

8_zpscrqmz8gx.jpg

"We're running out of water!" someone yelled, "are there any barrels left?"

"Uhh... nope," said Petr and Toki, trying their best to conceal a fine keg of mead.

9_zpsd4y9kxpe.jpg

Mederic One-Day-Away-From-Retirement ran outside to escape the fiery hall.

"You fools!" he said, "this was the last sanctuary left in this world. You have ruined us! We are doomed!"

IMG_2026_zpszgejccsa.jpg

Mederic was not alone in the snow. Another warrior had followed him outside.

IMG_2030_zpsi7myqhc4.jpg

"Traitors!" Mederic gasped. He had no time to stop his attacker, who swung their axe straight at his face...

IMG_2033_zpsyb8ewww0.jpg

... Leaving him dead in the snow.

IMG_2035_zpsxvjy6lax.jpg

Meanwhile, the fight within the hall sounded like it was coming to a close.

10_zps1onfhre6.jpg

His energy depleted, Brand went out in one last explosion of fire.

11_zpspppqs8cd.jpg

Extinguished and broken, Brand stumbled out of the hall...

IMG_2041_zps6ptagydg.jpg

... And collapsed, defeated.

IMG_2043_zpsfy3ostwy.jpg

Once the fires in the hall were taken care of, the rest of the warriors gathered outside to find two dead bodies.

"Mederic's death could have only come at the hands of traitors," Kára announced, "I fear that some of us have been corrupted, driven insane by the horrors of Ragnarok. Our journey will be more treacherous than I thought..."

IMG_2045_zpsaj6lm7rq.jpg

Herburt called out from behind the door, "you are on your own now, valkyrie. Your warriors have ruined my provisions. We can no longer spare you the supplies or provide you the shelter. You will need to make it to Valhalla by yourselves now."

It is now night. Please send in your night actions within the next 24 hours.
