technically speaking I am still an valkyrie but must been the mead talkin, I meant the servents of Loki thrown out.

Even so, I believe that was a Freudian slip of sorts  Besides, it isn't even Einherjar, it's Loyal. If you are Loyal, Kara would have used the word Loyal in your Role PM. Therefore, I conclude that you are Scum trying to appear Town.

To be fair it looks like an artifact from the rules of the previous game.

Rules

1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Loyal or the Corrupted. To win the game, the Einherjar must kill off all the Servants of Loki, while the Servants of Loki must outnumber the Einherjar. Neutral characters will have their victory conditions outlined in their role.

Either you've had a brain fart or you're trying to subtly say you've got some desire to reach Valhalla alone and (vigilante) kill the rest of us.

I find this comment extremely troubling. Perhaps I am misreading your intent, but I do not think this is the case. I have never before seen somebody attempt to out someone as a vigilante on the first day. What are you trying to achieve here? What is the meaning of this remark?

I shall be watching you closely, Cranebeinn.

Ouch! I thought I was the victim here, with her ogling me like that.

Do not fool yourself, miserable oaf! You are plainly mistaken. If you noticed her ogling in your direction, then it must have been because I was standing next to you. Let me make myself perfectly clear: should you attempt to make an advance on myself or any of my beautiful friends, you will face the smashenining.

I missed that. What the hell, Cranebainn? *huh* Assuming this insane jump in logic is for some reason correct, what purpose does trying to find our vig serve?

Publically or privately? :sceptic:

I do believe that you meant to say "...alone and (Serial killer) kill the rest of us." That would make much more sense. Perhaps you got things mixed up and forgot that the vigilante is supposed to be good... It was probably just an honest mistake, but I'm willing to reach pretty far on the first day.

Seems brain farts can happen to the best of us.

Of course no good can come from spotlighting a loyal einherjar. Finding someone whose goal it is to end us all, as possibly indicated in the speech of the one I replied to, is a good thing.

So yes I did mean serial killer. I should spend less time grooming my stylish manly goatee and a bit on refreshing myself on the rules of this hall.

I'm also concerned about this 'out of mead soon' you mention. :distressed: This is the last mead hall, so if there's no mead here we'll end up drinking pig milk or something!

Hey, I'm working on my alchemy over here, trying to turn some of that pig milk we seem to have so much of into mead. And not nasty milk-mead, REAL mead. Milk into gold was too hard, but milk into golden mead, well, that might just be doable. Then we shall have no lack of mead ever again! Huzzah!

Oh wait, I have to actually make it work first. Bah.

One of the foundations of mafia is not letting people off the hook for this kind of thing. If we gave people a pass for every supposed "brain fart," we would have a very hard time sorting out the Corrupt from the Loyal. That's why people have been putting Mist under the microscope, and you deserve the same kind of scrutiny here.

Hypothetically, let's say you did mean to say "serial killer" instead of "vigilante." What about Jarl's comments made you believe that he might be a serial killer?

I do believe that you meant to say "...alone and (Serial killer) kill the rest of us." That would make much more sense. This is suspicious, as well. It's rare to see someone so quick to jump to someone else's defense. Why couldn't you let Cranebeinn answer for himself? Furthermore, why are you willing to give him so much benefit of the doubt? Can you elaborate on what you mean by "willing to reach pretty far on the first day," by any chance?

My comment is meant to throw suspicion on him, not defend him...

I could have phrased it better I guess. I was trying to say that scum would see the vigilante as a bad thing, and therefore would mix SK and vig up...

Your deeds don't mean shit. You think we're all dumb. Backstory has nothing to do with alignment. Why is anyone trying to set themselves apart like this?

Just trying to be civilizied (my first post of the game, roleplaying). You seemed to take great offense at my words, why is this?

Pig head over there will probably start brewing pig piss soon...

That is disgusting! Who would even consider such a thing.

It's still early! You did seem a bit defensive with the fire giant's statements actually, and keen to dissociate yourself from your ancestors, however given the fact that they were pretty damn evil I can understand why. The batshit craziness the fire giant came out with was also just.. weird. So all in all I didn't make too much of the whole thing.

Well, I hope to get some suspicion from you. That's one of the things that made me excited about this game. Missed you!

Yes. It has happened before. It wasn't a direct statement from you that you were/are corrupted, rather that what you said implied your state of mind wasn't with the rest of us and was thus worth commenting on. Following that up with something starting with "technically" doesn't help either. :sceptic:

If we were voting right now, I'd vote for Mist. However, let me play Loki's advocate and point out that Mist is normally, metagamingly Commander Cuckoo Pants.

I find this comment extremely troubling. Perhaps I am misreading your intent, but I do not think this is the case. I have never before seen somebody attempt to out someone as a vigilante on the first day. What are you trying to achieve here? What is the meaning of this remark?

I think by context it's clear that Cranberry Bin meant Serial Killer.

The real concern is why is Cranberry Bread so worried about the Serial Killer and how did he find any indication of Serial Killer in this statement:

If we must embark on one last adventure, I can't think of any group I'd like to be with. The years have been kind to me, but I fear they are winding down. Let's waste no time, I would love to see the old lands one last time.

Can you help us find the hidden Serial Killer outing message in that? I doubt a Serial Killer would leave us a code but I see nothing in there for you to base such an accusation off of. Can you explain that, Cranberry Brain?

I do believe that you meant to say "...alone and (Serial killer) kill the rest of us." That would make much more sense. I cannot read that without seeing it as a defense. Nothing about it seems to cast suspicion on him. But the term "throw suspicion on" seems disingenuous anyway. Are you suspicious or are you just trying to throw suspicion onto someone. Sounds more like the latter.

I could have phrased it better I guess. I was trying to say that scum would see the vigilante as a bad thing, and therefore would mix SK and vig up...

You think they would suggest that the vig wins alone after killing everyone?

Just trying to be civilizied (my first post of the game, roleplaying). You seemed to take great offense at my words, why is this?

Because nobody is going to decide who to vote off by the deeds recounted in their back story. It's been previously pointed out, size, deed, backstory does not take you off of the chopping block. That is all secondary to the mechanics of the game. Did you expect us to think we shouldn't vote for you based on the summary of your backstory??

Both, in this case. Like I said, I'm willing to reach pretty for on day one. This, so far, is the best lead I have, so I'm both suspicious of him and trying to cast suspicion on him so that other can scrutinize with me and maybe find something that I missed.

I'm happy with my words being scrutinised and picked at. That's what this game is about.

Jarl said

"I can't think of any group I'd like to be with"

Indicating he doesn't like either the loyal or the others, suggesting he stands alone.

Perhaps he meant

"I can't think of any group I'd rather be with" meaning he likes this group above any other.

As for lurking or consulting, I confess I have other things to do in this place that don't involve skull smashing extreme prejudice. Sometimes I pretend I'm an elf and I prance about singing pretty tunes. Doesn't make me any less manly or my goatee any less attractive.

:hmpf: I'm pretty sure he just meant all of us. "I can't think of any group I'd rather be with" is a common saying. It means he's happy in present company, he's happy in the group he's in. This group of Vikings, all of us.

Enjoy your stretching. But don't fret your flamey head. There wasn't anything to miss in what I said. I'm all for analysing what I said, though I do hope you agree you should be equally scrutinised for the desire to "throw suspicion" on someone.

Fair enough.

And that's what I expected.

But it was worth asking the question.

And it's worth letting him answer rather than jumping in and short circuiting the discussion.

It wasn't a discussion worth having. No self–respecting Serial Killer would come in and say "Well I can't decide if I'm Scum or Town and I can't think that I'd like to be either. Blah Blah Blah."

The fact that you even think this would possibly be a tell pings me. It's a wild stretch of an accusation.

Slightly surprised that some in our number have yet to post at all. Is it merely timezone differences to blame or are people just not stalking the forum like me?

Either way, hearing other people’s views would be helpful.

I don’t feel as if I really have any exciting insights to add as of yet. Not that we’re very far into the day. But still. Waiting for stuff to happen is frustrating :sceptic:

I have only vague suspicions, but I don’t feel very comfortable in sharing them right now. I’m going to go back and look more closely at all the posts so far. I’ll let everyone know if I find anything interesting.

Is it? Really?

Surely in the grand history of hapless warriors people have been outed for less and for slighter hints of their allegiance.

And it's even not so much what he says as how he responds. Is he defensive? Counter accusatory? Does he reach out via PM or clam up, all good things to know aren't they?

Nobody would hint that way. Nobody. Why would anyone give a hint to their allegiance, blatantly come out in the first post and say "I am neutral!" and that's clearly not what he's saying.

He has posted since then. He ignored you. I'm guessing because you make no sense.

Wise words. A true Nord's last thoughts should be of home.

Last thoughts? Do you mean to imply that he’ll simply die of old age? Or be murdered at the hands of scum like yourself? :hmpf_bad::wacko:

I agree with you guys that Mist's unawareness of the loyal party's name is currently our best lead.

Do you still think this is the best lead we have? Or was that just early game speculation? :look:

Not much has changed. He is typically a weirdo but that is metagaming. People have been lynched for less than confusing what side they're supposed to say they're on.

A previous player changed her name and I thought that was you. Is this your first game? I mean first time in Valhalla? Or this mead hall, whatever? Feel free to share suspicions. A first game, if it is, can be intimidating, but get in there and play. We don't bite, we only lynch.

Yes, it is. I’ve been a lurker for a while but finally decided to make my home here :sweet:

Brand’s defense/accusation of Cranebeinn did strike me as odd. As did some of Cranebeinn’s replies. It’s still early on in the day, so who knows.

That’s very comforting to hear :laugh:

See, something about the fact that Crannberry here keeps going after one statement that, to me at least, seemed like a fluff statement (nothing wrong with that early Day 1, of course), is just...bleh. People who call out others for nothing definitely get the ol' ping-meter up.

You keep assuming that there even is a hint at allegiance.  Anybody up for some cranberry juice at the end of the day? This whole thing smells fishy.

Why is Cranebeinn so obsessed about what Mist is saying? Doesn't he have his own wife? You kids these days and your flirting. Back in my day your parents arranged marriages for you!
