BrickFit26 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Aww that baby, and that baby's bottle. The limo looks really cool. Quote
Sparks352 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I like the Volcano theme, about what I expected. I love all the tan hats I'll be getting. Looks like leaving the stickers off won't detract too much. I'll prob stock up on some lime green for additional buildings. Gas station is nice ill be grabbing that along with the park set. The airport theme doesn't interest me, maybe the stunt plane set for that hanger. Quote
wooootles Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) This is the first batch in a LONG time... that CITY, in my opinion, beats Friends! The Gas Station is a little bit small, but IMO easily expandable. But the minifigure set is all kinds of victory. CITY could use more plain civilians and less workers/government types/race car drivers. Edited January 27, 2016 by wooootles Quote
Actor Builder Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 It looks like the two blonde kids on the Spinny-Tosser are supposed to be twins. That's fun. Quote
Vodnik Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The gas station is marked "2-in-1" and the alternate build seems to be a garage. Does it mean that instructions for both builds will be included, like in Creator sets?... Quote

This is the first batch in a LONG time... that CITY, in my opinion, beats Friends! I dunno... Friends has a hot dog shaped car! Quote
Rick Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 Looks like they are bringing alternative models to the City line. Check out the 2:1 on the side of the Octan Gas Station Box! 2-in-1 even suggests there will be instructions for the alternative model included (or available online). The creative aspect is something that TLG should capitalise more on, in my opinion. It's something that sets LEGO apart from other toys. And it also looks like they are finally starting to use different types of tires in the City line too. Quote
Vectormatic Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Im totally getting the cargo plane, it looks awesome Should look great next to the utility shuttle and air ambulance (which i still need to get) Quote
El Garfio Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The park is like the advent calendars of 10 years ago the ones with 9 or more minifigs. It's also similar to some LEGO education sets. I read that the price could be between $35-$40. Seeing that a advent calendar cost $30 and LEGO education more than $50. I find the price reasonable. also, if we get them as CMF, we should have to pay $3-$4 per minifig and surely we don't have the hotdog cart and other "big" accesories. The airshow set for me is the best. The other airport sets, I have to think more about them, because I don't know what to do with the big planes. The Gas station is a must. Quote
Yeow Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Looks like I'm in the minority about this, but I really dislike the new City sets, except for the park and the airport set with the red and orage planes. They seem to be getting more and more junior-ized/chibi and I really disagree with the direction they seem to be heading. I also dislike the new wheels that they are using, particularly on the limo and the dark red car. I find it really weird that the 2016 Fire sets use the old wheels still while these are going with the newer style. Edited January 27, 2016 by Yeow Quote
geezerman402 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Really? scale wise, these smaller wheels make a lot more sense for small cars. Definitely an improvement over a third of the wheel sticking out past the fender! Quote
Yeow Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Really? scale wise, these smaller wheels make a lot more sense for small cars. Definitely an improvement over a third of the wheel sticking out past the fender! Dunno, I've always liked the older style, and I just don't buy the usual argument that it's not very realistic. If I wanted realistic, I wouldn't be buying Lego. However, these new wheels really don't fix that problem. You can see in the photos of the gas station that the smaller wheels still stick out past the fender on the street sweeper and especially so on the dark red car. Edited January 27, 2016 by Yeow Quote
Robert8 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 MY GOD what a time to be alive..... This City wave is amazing The hangar is awesome I love the Volcano sets. Kudos to LEGO for trying something new. (Even if it looks similar to Artic) And that park set....... This has to be the best City set is years. It's like a citizens battlepack. I'm so getting that set. But that baby..... the head is huge It reminds me of these guys hahaha Quote
goldengraham09 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 my wallet is not going to be happy with me over the year. So many different sets to buy but so little room :(. ill still buy them anyway and figure the room thing out later aha. i definitely need the campervan, park set, petrol station and that spiderman bridge set looks really good just for the bridge. not too fussed about the airport theme atm or the volcano sets. need to buy some more modulars first but maybe they can wait. lightningtiger Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Okay, so Fun In The Park is one of best city sets in years so many minifigs and that service station - I totally , though it reminds me of......oh, nevermind ! I guess you can either build a servo or racing pits I think ? Seriously need to see more detailed pictures especially the interior of the servo. Quote

Gongoro73 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 No base plate for the Petrol Station = bad thing! Sadly, that was so predictable. Three sets will be needed in order to build a decent one that goes well in a modular layout. Anybody knows the price of this set? Quote

The creative aspect is something that TLG should capitalise more on, in my opinion. It's something that sets LEGO apart from other toys. The thing I find odd is that when I was a kid (1980s), all the Lego sets I bought had alternate builds on the back of the boxes—even something as basic as 6607-1/service truck. As for the city mini-figs set, Brickset said it'd be 35 quid, which seems a touch pricey. Here's hoping it comes in a bit lower. Quote
wideawakewesley Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Here's a video from FamilyGamerTV on the Lego City Volcano Explorers sets, more videos to come Quote
Joebot Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 No base plate for the Petrol Station = bad thing! That really jumped out at me too. It's a nice-looking set, but without a road plate, it looks weirdly unfinished, like it's just floating there. Same goes for the Airport sets not having runways. I realize Lego stopped using road plates in City sets a while back, but I still find that to be a bizarre product decision. Overall though, some nice NEW ideas in this wave, including some stuff we haven't seen in ages like the airshow and the park set. Quote
mon-o-mat Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Interesting how Lego used the lime green for these new geologic sets--reminds me of Power Miners a little! Not too interested overall, but the mobile HQ with tracked driller looks cool. Maybe it is about the story before Power Miners. Quote
mssm Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) 60125 and 60133 yet to be announced.. 60133 should be Advent Calender. 60125 should be? Still waiting for the retail exclusive City. Last year 60098 was announced at Legoworld... Sill hoping for the missing harbor! Edited January 27, 2016 by mssm Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Interesting use of KRE-O until the real thing comes out! Quote
El Garfio Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Interesting use of KRE-O until the real thing comes out! When I saw the new baby "piece" the first I thought was that TLG has been inspired in Kre-o for designing it. Quote
