Overcold Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) I don't consider myself a fan of Ninjago, (the only set that looked tempting to me tbh was that fire temple). This set however took me by surprise, certainly my favorite of the ninjago line, (enough so that I actually made a post to this forum theme 0_o). Great techniques, fantastic detail, and an awesome idea. Based on the pictures, it seems that it will have a nice build too. Edited July 15, 2015 by Overcold Quote
Corvo Wingtips Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I have not really been a fan of Ninjago but the new summer sets with the ghosts piqued my interest and I was lucky to snag 'em in Korea. This new temple though is just wow. Definitely a candidate for using the wad of cash I saved in my Lego VIP card. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 A super ninjago city. And the tower would be good for a city Hall and sensei Wu could be a perfect mayor. His monument proves that. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Not to be that guy, but the statue is actually Sensie Yang, the creator of Airjitzu... Quote
Thelegomaster Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Dareth's suit reminds me of the Rebooted suits the ninja got last year. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I think I'm gonna add the legs from the polybag for dareth. I think the lack on the printing on some of the characters are disappointing. Quote

One does wonder how lego justifies it - because it's certainly not to do with cost, even more so with a set where there profit margin is so high. Quote
SEE AR AR THREE Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Great SDCC pics! This set is huge! Now I want it even more!! I wish I could buy two so I could build the back side but affording one is going to be hard enough. Quote
darthzane321 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 really cool I like this set    Quote
CaptainToad Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I was never a fan of ninjago - to be honest. Recently I was struggling with the idea of buying those scooby doo sets - but somehow I decided against it. Today I have made a decision to buy the temple of arjitzu Quote
darthzane321 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 same for me i was going to buy the lighthouse in the scooby doo theme but now i changed my mind Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) So now that this set has been out for a little while, what are people's thoughts on it who have bought it? Edited October 18, 2015 by dr_sarcophagus Quote
CM4Sci Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 So now that this set has been out for a little while, what are people's thoughts on it who have bought it? Just got it pretty recently, I love it! I had been putting it off for a while and then the double VIP points thing came around so I thought that'd be a good time to get it! (Only to find out I couldn't use my VIP money I earned from the purchase on the set, which kinda sucked) Although it's probably gonna sit on a shelf and collect dust like most of my LEGO... Quote
Rayskull Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 That is a beautiful set... It should be displayed alone. Makes a wonderful statement. That is a beautiful set... It should be displayed alone. Makes a wonderful statement. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 It's been a long time since I've been as impressed with a set as I am with this one. I'm so impressed that I even decided to sell a few of my prized older sets to attain funds for this one. Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Honestly, i wss always ignoring seeing the Ninjago sets. But this one is just Awesome and made me to change my mind and buy 1. What a super nice set Quote
dr_sarcophagus Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Thanks all. I've been tossing up between this one and Parisian Restaurant for my next large purchase. It's $300 Australian here and although many sets have been faring reasonably well against our dollar lately (or the US is undergoing a Lego price correction) this one hasn't. $250 would be a much easier decision. However I do really like the look of it.... I'm so sorely tempted. Quote
Sethra Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Very impressive set - got to try and get one for christmas before the lego brick shortage hits ;). Quote
Pedilego Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Like a few of you, I'm not really into Ninjago, but this set looks awesome. Has anybody tried to turn it into a modular yet? As is, it doesn't fit into our city but I'm almost done with a Haunted House modularization and think the pieces in this set would lend itself towards something similar albeit more challenging. Still Raindrop Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I've been building this over the past few nights (with several more to go--I'm limiting myself so I don't stay up too late), and it's an amazing build. I do have one question--what is the gold fez piece in the blacksmith's shop supposed to be? Is it a bell? A lamp? Some sort of blacksmithing tool that I'm not familiar with? Quote
Lyichir Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I've been building this over the past few nights (with several more to go--I'm limiting myself so I don't stay up too late), and it's an amazing build. I do have one question--what is the gold fez piece in the blacksmith's shop supposed to be? Is it a bell? A lamp? Some sort of blacksmithing tool that I'm not familiar with? I think it's a bell (the thin part of the harpoon gun used to support it could be interpreted as a rope or chain). But pretty much everyone else I've talked to thinks it's some sort of lamp. So who knows? Quote
Still Raindrop Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Ah, that makes sense. I thought it was a bell, myself (lamps usually have a trans-yellow or trans-clear piece), but the reviews I had read called it a lamp, so I was unsure. Thanks for the insight! Still Raindrop Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Just finished building the temple last night, and I have to say that I'm even more impressed than I thought I would be! It's huge, detailed, and beautiful. There are a few things I would have changed, but none of those things make me feel like the set wasn't worth it. I think I would have liked three main changes: •I would have wanted a few more plates to finish off the pond. Medium azure isn't the easiest color to come by, so the extra parts would have been nice. •I would have wanted the decorated parts to be printed, instead. •Finally, I would have preferred the inclusion of hairpieces for the Ninja in addition to their head wraps--and maybe even unique training outfits or new heads, or something along those lines. However, these three are small, and they all fit into the category of "things it would have been nice to have," rather than "things the set really needed." My wife and my brother have been similarly impressed, and the temple is sure to become a focal point of my Lego cave. Sorry, Black Seas Barracuda! Edited November 9, 2015 by Tea Weevil Quote
Jern92 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 While I'm really really immensely tempted by this set, I'm also aware of the fact that it has no proper back, so one would need two sets to make a complete pagoda, and there's no way I can afford that. When I got Battle for Ninjago City I got 2 of them on sale and modded an extra large temple with spare bricks and plates. Had this set been a complete building instead of slightly more than half of one, I would've jumped at the opportunity. the pagoda isn't the easiest thing to Bricklink, what with all those special window pieces.
