For all we know the banner could even be Nya-themed. However, I sort of doubt it since she was practically the star of this year's story and yet they didn't put her on the banner. They might be reluctant to give a female character the most prominent spot for a theme that is still, on the whole, being targeted towards boys.

Now a maroon colored box with Cloud Kingdom in the background as box art... THAT'S what I've been needing!

Usually I can tell by looking at the largest ninja set of the wave. Such was the case for Rebooted (the NinjaCopter was the largest ninja set), the Ultra Dragon had Lloyd, etc

However, there's no indication as far as I can, although the most expensive three sets don't indicate any ninja.

True, but I have to believe that one of the 2 large sets is Ninja-centric. My guess is that one of them is the Air Pirate's stronghold and the other is the Ninja's new base of operations since it looks like they are on the run from Ninjago City. I think Tiger Widow Island is the Ninja base and Misfortune's Keep the Pirate stronghold.

I think that these sets will either have a blue colored box-top or (more likely) black or very dark grey.

I wonder what the pirates minifigs will look like and how compatible they gonna be with regular pirates (if at all!)

Coming here from Castle 2016. In case anybody missed, Nekchir was trolling and we won't get any early info about these sets or picture leaks. Most likely next month.

I hope they are humans, and have a Asian vibe to them, or they should strongly resemble Mealstrom beings  I hope they will have new, useful sword molds.

I wonder what the collectible of this wave will be. Since we're talking about Ninjago, we will probably get something like: the Golden Grappling Hook, the Golden Flintlock, Golden Scimitar and the Golden Smoke Bombs :pir_laugh2: . Oh, and golden pirate canons, compasses and a cursed golden map, of course

YES! We definitely need that. Or if they look like the venture league, that would be cool too.

So far I'm not looking forward to any theme next year.

Except for Ninjago,

A small set list in 2016 will give my wallet a break and give me time to catch up with all the sets I need to buy.

A Ninjago zeppelin and sky-shark sound great. Two possible buildings also sound good.

Get ready for the curse of the golden pirates...

Guessing:

- Human but might have a another race of minions working for them crewing their ships, etc.

- Asian inspired/influenced - judging by the SDCC logo they might have Sampan hats

- Being pirates, they will probably have "irregular costuming" i.e. not have the same uniforms

- Leader may have some kind of sidekick animal like a mechanical bird/beast

- Katana's like in the logo

- Stud shooters which could stand in for flint lock pistols

- Maybe utilize the new stud shooter crossbow from the upcoming Star Wars TFA sets

- I think they will utilize a combination of ballistic and melee weapons like classic pirates

I'm really hoping for the irregular costumes (aka no clone figs). While it's cool to have the same Minifigs of armies like Nindroids, pirates are individual humans and having different types is great...

I agree, pirates need to have irregular costumes. It would be appropriate to - unlike with the Ghost wave - not get minions and just a powerful, specialized group of pirates, all with a signature weapon and/or special ability with a captain, of course.

Btw, has there ever been a pirate theme in which the pirates all had a name and fit the description above?

A sky shark. I wonder if it will be our old sharky friend with added wings?

A Zeppelin will be excellent for my Adventures too.

As for collectables, hmm, gold doubloons would be cool or actual treasures instead of weapons.

That would just make me happy on so many levels. I own both of these, and I wouldn't be disappointed for a third!

I'm worried that it's just going to be a boat with a couple of the Friends Hot Air Balloon's...er... balloons stuck to it. What I'd love to see is something in the vein of the Expedition Balloon. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Elemental treasure chests with elemental themed items would be wondrous. However, getting a bunch of elemental, golden Pirate styled weapons would be just as lovely.

You know, every collectible weapon from each wave has been significant, except for the Jade Blades earlier this year. So it makes me wonder what next year's weapons will be.

To be honest, the Aeroblades weren't that much more significant... I was a little amused how the "collectible" Aeroblades in the sets were basically just gifted to the Ninja in bulk in the story, instead of them having to track them down or anything like that.

That's really how most of them have been. The Golden Weapons and the Fang Blades being the exception. Everything else was "gifted" or was already possessed.

The difference is that the other weapons, even those that were gifted or otherwise easily obtained, were at least implied to be one-of-a-kind. There were four elemental blades, four Techno-blades, etc. On the other hand, there were at least 15 Jade Blades, and there was no hard limit established on the Aeroblades (which were not even shown to be that rare or hard to acquire). Also, in both cases the "collectible" varieties found in the sets were more or less irrelevant in the show—all the Jade Blades were portrayed as identical, unlike the variety of weapon types in the sets, and likewise the color-coded Aeroblades in the summer sets were turned into interchangeable and identical weapons in the show.

All I'm saying is that it sure would be nice to have collectible weapons in future sets be treated as distinct and important items in the show, instead of just being made identical and interchangeable.

True. But of I remember correctly the AeroBlades had the distinctive elemental beast symbols on them.

Definitely not in the show... or in the sets... They even changed color depending on who was holding them.

I could't agree more! We need more collectibles like the Dragon Sword of Fire: detailed, distinct, desirable. In that aspect, I think the Jade Blades looked very cool, so did the Serpentine Staffs, I was (and am!) really fond of those different 1x1round printed tiles.

Warning: wishful thinking ahead

So the group of pirates that the ninja will be fighting has one goal: collecting all of the secondary Golden weapons (from secondary elements) from all over Ninjago. They have already acquired the Mace of Gravity, the Daggers of Smoke, the Dou (samurai chestplate) of Disguise and the Scimitar of Metal. Now the ninja must gather the alliance of Elemental Masters once again, to prevent them from tracking down the remaining Golden weapons. What the ninja don't know however, is that one pirate crew member is an old ally of theirs, one with a far greater and darker ambitions.... Stealing the Golden Armor!

True , sometimes they even messed up with the aeroblades color.

And by the way, really want some legendary collective next year.

Hi All. Some information on the 2016 sets from Hulk_Smash who has been a reliable source of information in the past. This is what he shared with me:

"As for ninjago I flicked passed it and didn't see much, but I think there is some sort of flying vehicle or two."

Unfortunately, he was unable to provide any additional details. But based on this it looks like we could have 2 sets that contain flying vehicles.

Thanks Hulk_Smash for the info!

Woohooo. I'd like to make another prediction: there will be ninjas included in the sets. :)

So are there any news on January 2016 sets? I am really curious about Command Zeppelin and Black Widow island sets. Other sets sound pretty generic: 300-400 pieces dragon for Jay, 150-200 piece bike for another ninja, very small 100 piece dragon for Cole. Also is Sky Shark set is really happening or still just unconfirmed rumor?

No, read above. He skipped Ninjago.
