Bob De Quatre Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Not that rare in fact, we got it 51 times in 13 sets this year. Got 7 in the first bag, I hope there are more in the next bags Quote

Yeah looks like inspiration from Clays Rumble Blade (modular bikes) / Macy's Thunder mace (larger bike with 2 6-shooter cannons). But even prior to that it seems Chima started using tracked vehicles and 2 wheeled bikes more regularly. Mainly the lion chi temple bikes or Tiger command bikes/tracks. Quote

gamejutzu Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) There have been two phantom ninjas in the books, both being distinct characters from one another. And as far as I'm aware neither the graphic novels nor the chapter books are any more canon than the other—neither is "as canon" as the show itself. The reason everyone has been referring to the one from the graphic novel is that visually, the one on the screen in the Samurai X Cave matches that specific character design, whereas there has never been any visual depiction of the one from the original chapter books. I suppose. However, the book's Phantom Ninja was described as being garbed in grey, he could even look similar to the second Phantom Ninja. Edited May 31, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted June 1, 2016 Author Posted June 1, 2016 So sets are out of stock on amazon.uk and fhe GB Lego site? I know Ninjago is popular, but I find that hard to believe....I figured I would do shout the extra 25 on the Samurai X Cave, but that's hard to do when I can't accually find them anywhere. Quote

As of 5 minutes ago, the Lego UK website had all the new Ninjago sets available for sale and in stock. If people from NA want to import them, you will have to go through Ebay sellers. They should be readily available and plentiful on Ebay within 2 weeks or so. Last year I picked up Titan Mech Battle from a UK seller for a price that pretty much amounted to retail (give or take $5 or so) plus the cost of shipping. Quote

Exetrius Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 70595 Review by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr Finally a look at Yang's torso and face and Cole's face: both are superb! Jay's face update looks less like Jay in the show, imo, but Cole's new expressions are spot-on! Quote

Aanchir Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Neat to have confirmation that Cole's head piece is yellow. I wasn't sure whether it was yellow or some other color like Tr. Green or Tr. Flu. Green with yellow printing. Eyezorai looks pretty great, even if he looks very different than he did in the show. It's neat to have an Anacondrai who doesn't have a snake tail, since it struck me as odd that all the ones in the Tournament of Elements sets did… I guess they wanted to get a lot of use out of the snake tail mold to justify keeping it in production, as well as to make the difference between the human and Anacondrai forms of those characters as striking as possible. But I really liked how the classic Serpentine had different traits for different ranks. I think Jay's new expressions really suit him, myself! Now Kai's the only character still using his default one-sided head from 2011. He could use an update, though I'm not sure if they'd want to keep his scar (so the sets have more continuity) or get rid of it (so the sets are more consistent with the show). I mean, really, the best way to do both would be to just give him a scar in the show, but showing that on screen might be a bit too violent. :P Loving these new ninja costumes. They may not have the rad elemental effects of the Techno robes, but they are still a great throwback to the characters' classic and ZX costumes. And it's nice that they're all tying their belts differently. I like that sort of detail. It's kind of weird that Chen is the only villain character not to have gotten a new design. It would've been cool if they'd maybe given him a new face to represent the Anacondrai version of him. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Love sensei Yang and the new Cole! Jay has the same face from the latest encyclopedia, but it's cool to see it here. Kai... They made a new face for him in the cube and just decided to not use it again? Well, overall this set has a great selection of minifigures. Quote

They made a new face for him in the cube and just decided to not use it again? Well, overall this set has a great selection of minifigures. All the printed elements from the minifigure cubes have remained exclusive to those, and I don't expect that to change. Chances are that parts made especially for promotional minifigures like the ones in those cubes are made in shorter production runs than typical minifigure parts. However, I do agree that sooner or later they should get around to making Kai a new face with dual expressions for his standard set appearances. The old 2011 face print is starting to feel kind of stale, especially since it's the classic Ninjago face that feels least accurate to the character's appearance in the show. On another note: I'm kind of disappointed that it's still not standard to get both headgear and hair for ninja characters. When the Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty set had both headgear and hair I hoped that might be a sign of things to come, but since then every set has had just one or the other. I am grateful that we're finally getting Zane's hair in silver in two sets this year, though, so at least all the ninja's hair pieces exist once more. Quote
gamejutzu Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Cole's alternate expression matches the show perfectly. Jay's alt. does too, but not as much. I'm glad Cole's scar looks more than a Harry Potter ripoff. Actually, I don't know what it looks like. Kai's face is in serious need of an alternate. An alternate that still keeps the scar though. This set is looking like the ideal set to grab in the wave, if you had to choose one. But I'd rather pick up the Tumbler, since i'm not a person who wants to collect every variant, and also because I always wanted a nindroid army and Zane's hair. So i'll get that first. I also missed out on Rebooted Zane, so it'd be nice to have a white bandana as well. Quote
Peasantseverywhere Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 (edited) Greeting Ninjago Forum (Not a place I visit often, Sorry) - Im after some advice, I recently watched AmazingLego123's Review on the Samurai X Cave Chaos (A pretty horrible review from a pretty horrible channel but I digress) and I'm completely beside myself with it - it is super awsome! The functions are crazy cool. My question is, for someone with a terribly completionist personality, is it worth just buying that one to display or should I be getting others. The new wave of Star Wars isn't grabbing me too much (Even though I will end up getting them all).Should I take the plunge on this set? Or shall i take the plunge on this series as a whole? (Bareing in mind my Lego budget will barely stretch for the set never mind the whole series) Edited June 3, 2016 by Peasantseverywhere Quote

It truly is an amazing model. Edited June 3, 2016 by Puffle Pal26 Quote

That may go over your budget, though. If you can get past the figs, I think the set can perfectly be displayed without any of the other sets. Quote

That may go over your budget, though. If you can get past the figs, I think the set can perfectly be displayed without any of the other sets. I was about to say just this. Those two sets are great designs and offer some of the most desirable figs for the story arc they tie in with. If you're not deeply invested in Ninjago then there's no need to worry about getting every ninja variant. And unlike licensed figs, which can command a heavy premium in the aftermarket, Ninjago minifigures that appear in smaller sets don't tend to be tremendously expensive on BrickLink, should you ever decide you want to fill in the gaps in your collection. Even as a die-hard Ninjago fan I don't mind missing out on sets I'm not so psyched about (like last year's Jay Walker One, Chain Cycle Ambush, and Blaster Bike) if I can get the figs by other means. Also, if Ninjago's not your top priority, there's no need to rush. Sets as big as these two tend to stick around for a while and sometimes even get marked down later on in their life, so you could just keep an eye on them in anticipation of a sale or deal that makes it worthwhile to take the plunge. Peasantseverywhere Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Thank you all for your detailed replies - I think I am going to postpone my Big Ben purchase and order the Samurai X Cave instead soon - as far as the Ultra Stealth Raider goes it's really not for me sorry guys. I do have an open piece of space though so I will consider furthering my Ninjago collection later when I find more sets I feel as passionate about as The Cave but for now the Cave will fill my needs. Once again thanks for the replies and suggestions. (I'll make sure I visit this forum again to post my presumably positive opinions of the cave) Quote
