I don't know, magical instant costume changes aren't unheard of in fantasy/superhero stories (Green Lantern, Miraculous Ladybug, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, etc). I think you could make an argument that the NRG and Airjitzu ninja could be considered both special magical forms AND special magical costumes, since the costume appears to transform along with the ninja wearing it. Particularly in the case of the Airjitzu designs, there's a decidedly layered appearance to the minifigure as a whole, instead of their body and costume all appearing to be one material like in the NRG version.

In the show, of course, the NRG forms just have the ninja in whatever they were wearing before but made to look like the ninja and costume alike have been converted into semi-transparent elemental energy, and the ninja don't get special forms or costumes at all when they do Airjitzu. Which is honestly kind of disappointing for me, since the NRG and Airjitzu minifigures are some of the coolest versions of the ninja, IMO, and you don't get to see so much of that in the show.

Completely with you here! In support of magic costume changes: the ninja got their elemental kimono robes magically, when they were in the Temple of Light (this episode).

I know there are subtle differences between terms like suit, costume, robes, garb, etc. but in the case of Ninjago and this community, everybody knows what they refer to, right? Printing on figs, simple.

My main argument for it being a form rather than a costume, is that LEGO are experts at making minifigure designs. If this was really an outfit, wouldn't we get some indication that this is one?

There are no gi robes, collars, or anything else that you'd see from basic clothing. Unless this is a jumpsuit or one-piece.

They really make it seem that this energy is flowing from their body, like they've transformed or something. Also, the face pieces are too weird to be a costume.

But there are exceptions to this, like Cole's RX/NRG/whatever form in the summer season, since that's clearly his suit with stuff coming out.

Just found all the sets sans Zane's Tumbler, Airjitsu Battle Grounds, and X-Cave Chaos (very sad about the last one) at Legoland California. They also had all the new superheroes, NO, Elves, etc...

For the lighthouse Siege set does anyone who owns it have the box dimensions? Thanks

I don't own it, but I'm pretty sure it's the same dimensions as the Friends Adventure Camp Treehouse (just without the stylistic bubble front).

Today I bought the four ninja airjitsu flyers, I saw them discounted for 3 pounds each, there were no morros or wrayths but still I am happy I managed to get the ninjas in their airjitsu forms plus I like the additional weapons that come with.

E.g. Zane's flyer also comes with ice skates for Zane. I didn't even know that lego ice skates were a thing so I was really pleasantly surprised. I doubt I'll be making airjitsu flyer videos like the ones I've seen on YouTube but building the handles were fun and they look cool, by the time I built Coles and Zane's I wasn't even looking at the instructions.

I would definitely recommend for those who are completionist, now that the battlegrounds us out and the Lloyd/Nya forms are available. I never managed to get the NRGs so today I am a happy camper

They had the ninjago lighthouse on the shelf at my local target in Iowa. When I brought it to the register they took it from me and told me it was a mistake and they couldn't sell it until August 1. :-(

Seriously! So where in the world then are these sets being sold because I know that June 1st some members here were reporting seeing them on shelves and they came out in China where I live on July 1st. I am on holiday back in my home country of the UK this week and none of the new sets are on shelves yet. So where else can they be found?

The summer Ninjago sets are definitely available online in the UK, so I'm kinda surprised they're not in stores there yet.

They also came out in June throughout most of Europe, but I'm not sure if that was both in stores and online or just online. LEGOLAND Deutschland and Billund did get early releases for several of them in late May, not sure about LEGOLAND Windsor though.

Ninjago has had a bit of an odd release schedule in the UK, seems that while they were released on June 1st, that was pretty much exclusive to LEGO's direct-to-consumer outlets (so S@H and LEGO brand stores, would say LEGOLAND Windsor too but I haven't been there this year yet since my annual pass expired last year so I'm not sure). But now August is appraching, they are starting to trickle into other outlets though I haven't seen them physically on the shelves yet in any regular retail store. But do try Argos, some of their stores have had stock though it's very hit-and-miss (as I found trying to obtain The Lighthouse Siege from there so I could take advantage of an offer they currently have on LEGO and other toys). So we seem to have effectively had 2 release dates for the newest wave, an exclusive one (June 1st) and a regular one (August 1st?).

Yesterday while hunting I was fortunate enough to locate the Rock Roader, Stealth Raider, Lighthouse Siege, Salvage MEC, and Kryptarium at a Target in Florida. Sadly, I couldn't pick any up, but I'm sure they would let you buy them as they've allowed me to purchase sets early in the past.

Just picked up USR, Lloyd's Dragon, and the Rock Roader at Legoland California. I'm really pleasantly surprised by the Rock Roader - it's the land equivalent of swooshable! The USR is great too, but I expected that. My only disappointment was that it didn't come with the ninja hair, which I expected given the Bounty last year. (and I (temporarily) passed on Kryptarium because I thought I would get the new Zane hair!) As for the dragon, I'm actually a tad let down as I was super hyped for it and there were some issues with the wings getting wrinkled arbitrarily. Still an awesome set though!

Picked up Lloyd's dragon. Random stores had it, but not Toys R us. Is this usual? For 50 $, I'm very impressed - it rivals even Wu's dragon.

- They didn't put in as much grey as they did in the other dragons so the colour scheme is much better (though I moded most of the grey parts out of the others).

- the legs/feet are not perfect, but much better than the others..

- the wings are just EPIC! Gold underneath, green on the top with lots of detail. And the folding mechanism works great. Now I really look forward to other dragons with such high quality wings!

Speaking of ToysRUs pick ups, I just found the Rock Roader at TRU and picked it up. Havent built it yet but I was lucky enough to also get 20% off due to a deal this week. So i go it for about 33 after tax! It looks awesome and ill put my thoughts up later.

On a side note from where to buy the sets from, I was looking at the series 16 photos and noticed the rogue minifig. It would be a great addition to the ninjas, I can already think of how to implement it to my temple of airjitsu diorama :)

I just realized i received the wrong mask piece for Cole in the Rock Roader. Instead of getting the new summer 2016 head piece, i got the one he's had for the last year. Anyone else had this problem. Welp, gotta make an email to Lego

Oh, that's not good. That's really interesting, never seen anything like that for ninjago before.

Nah its fine, I was just examining Cole and the figure looked off and I realized the head wrap was the wrong color. Then i checked all my coles with that head piece and all of them are accounted for and yeah i was just kinda confused.

I've never really wanted to get he Minifig packs, but now I kind of want to buy 10 and hope I get the Rogue. I REALLY want that mask to be implemented in Ninjago.
