TheOneBrick Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Wow these sets look good. Ultra Stealth Raider looks great and the minifigs are good. Loving the new ninja outfits and Sensei Yang looks good. Chen's snake mech comes with his chair lol. The Lighthouse set looks great too, glad it comes with the mini robot and Echo Zane, as well as Nadakhan. It does resemble the lighthouse from the show when closed. Looks great. Ronin's mech looks great. Good to see the Skullkin back after 5 years of absence. Their little mech looks decent enough. Ronin seems to have a new torso print which is great. He also comes with his hair! I lIke the build and colouration of this one. Will pick it up Zane's Titanium Tumbler looked odd at first but I like it the more I see it. Glad it comes with his hair and it's a ground vehicle for Zane! The two nindroids are alright, could have been better with a ninja hood. Lloyd's NRG Dragon looks good. Nice build and great wingspan. The catapult is an alright addition and the minifigures are good. Cole's Rock Raider looks very cool. I like the whole sort of dune buggy aspect of it. Cole has orange arms, I wonder why? The purple ninja looks good too. Loving the classic ninja mask. Good to see the Stone Army again. Kryptarium Escape looks like a nice small set. Will get for the minifigures alone. Getting Soto at last is great, maybe one day he'll be in his pirate garb. A four armed stone warrior, guard, Skybound Kai and prisoner Zane are good too. Good way to get 5 minifigs for a cheap price. 8BrickMario Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Ha! The kendo windscreen would be great for a Big Daddy MOC! Quote
EdWebhead Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 These sets look great! Really love the look of all of them! It's certainly an interesting mix, but they all offer a lot. And WHY does Nya keep getting the generic stupid female face?!?!? It's absolutely ridiculous, considering she already has a unique faceprint. Is she really going into combat with that stupid grin on her face?!? She needs a more serious, determined face, not a stupid huge generic female city smiley face! (End rant) Quote
Starrocks923 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 It really is the year of hair, isn't it? Flintlocke's hair, Zane's titanium hair (Which I don't recall seeing in a set since one of the HP sets in one of my 2002 LEGO retail catalogs!) and even Echo Zane's golden hair! The new Raider this year actually has room for all of the Ninjas without removing the shoulderpads! I'm happy to see that. Also, Nya is using her alternate Ninja variant, the one Jay carried around in case Nya ever needed to change in front of him. (I'm never letting that one down! ) which is nice as I no longer have to buy the Tiger Widow set to get it. I still don't have her hairpiece because every set I own with Nya is her Samurai X variant, and I don't have Ronin either, so that beautiful Mech is a no-brainer. Sadly, the Lighthouse now appears to be a Temple instead of the actual location, but the Minifigures are nonetheless impressive. It's a bit frustrating seeing that two of the sets (both featuring Nya) still appear to be using the Skybound costumes, though. The likely reason for this is that Nya's Skybound costume was used in one set of the winter wave, if I had to guess. Also, she specifically has it in the Lighthouse set because she wears it in the fourth quarter of season six. The Lighthouse and Kryptarium sets are continuations of the current wave, which is why Jay apparently has his Skybound costume in the Lighthouse too. Quote

In the picture it is just opened up. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Ronin has a skateboard on his mech's leg . It seems to be designed mostly for blending in with advertisements. And ditto on the dislike for the generic female face. Why does every male character get a unique print and Nya doesn't? Quote

(End rant) Well, that's more or less the only negative thing I can see about these sets, so yeah it had to be said All in all, even without having seen the big range-topper, this is probably the best Ninjago wave ever! Since there are just too many good things and I am too lazy to name them all here, I will highlight some bits: - Lighthouse Defence: magnificently well-done. Incredible fig count and selection as well. Qualifies to me for being the best Ninjago set ever, price point taken into account. - Sonic Raider 2.0: real awesome vehicles, have curves! The printed Jedi Interceptor cockpits were a very great choice. This thing looks much sleeker and WAY more awesome than it's precedessor. Again, the minifigs in this set are far exceeding 'outstanding' to me. Oh, and we have Chen's beloved chair on top of a Clouse monster! Darn! Almost forgot to mention Sensai Yang, with his amazing lantern pole (forgot the Japanese name)! - All other sets have solid, quality builds as well, only that of the Kryptarium Prison is a bit lacking, but well... fig compensation! I really hope the dragon art piece and map are printed. - The new suits, Stone Army figs, PURPLE?! ninja and (Echo) Zane + hair... Splendid! Excellent! Edit: what were the prices again for these sets? Edited January 27, 2016 by Exetrius Quote

One neat detail I noticed is the Exo-Force flying battle machine insignia on its left leg! I'm noticing that the Lighthouse Siege Defense, Kryptarium Escape, and Lloyd's Green NRG Dragon have the Skybound flag in the corner and the others all have a lantern in the corner. I guess this means which story arc the sets belong to doesn't correspond specifically to which ninja is on the top banner like it has in the past. The Tr. Fluorescent Green weapons the baddies use in the sets for the new story arc are pretty sweet-looking, though I'm curious what their story will be. Quote
azog Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Lloyds dragon looks like a beast!! Its amazing! Its everything I've ever hoped for!!! Quote

I don't think they're hinting at anything besides that the designers really like Exo-Force and like to include shout-outs to it when they can manage it. I mean, for comparison's sake, they've also got Classic Space logos appearing in one of the summer Friends sets. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Is Chen riding a T-Rex ? A golem dinosaur, at any rate. It's even got wings! Quote
Takanuinuva Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I'm liking how each villain's weapon is matched to the collectible that there wave came in. Chen- Jade blade Sensei Yang- Aeroblade Stone Army- Elemental Sword Nindroid- Techno Blade The only odd one of the bunch is Krazi and his axe. Had they used a scythe instead it would have matched up to the golden weapons Quote

Dr.Cogg Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The light house is actually very close to the source material Quote

geezerman402 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I'm usually into Ninjago for the bad guys vehicles and bases, so this wave is getting exactly zero of my money, unless Airjitzu Temple grounds proves to be a worthy addition to the temple! I can't see his legs, they're hidden from the inside of the vehicle. I do wonder what's up with Cole's orange hands. He's also not a ghost. Quote
NinjaJayNuva Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I'm pretty sure Lloyd's NRG form is technically the Golden Ninja. I think NRG is actually energy, not necessarily pointing to true potential Lloyd. Quote
