Mandate Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) I'm starting to think that Nya's new gi won't be featured in any sets... But that's not so bad, as I love when the old isn't converted to the new immediately (like Nya's ninja gi to airjitzu gi). I thought cole's suit was a bit lazy before, but looking closer I see that it's better than I thought. Cole's outfits always have something to do with ropes and belts like the original 2011 suit, and here, there combined with the belts from 2012! That's 2011 + 2012! However, I'd still choose any ninja suit besides Nya's repeat over Cole's outfit... Also, I don't understand why people are hating on Jay's suit, calling it empty. It's actually packed with nice details... I wasn't expecting the tv-spot to not only feature show animation, but a correct voice actor! I'm still scratching my head at every Ninjago handheld game to date, wondering why... Jay's suit? Eh, the armor feels tacked on, but I'd say Cole and Zane's are the dodgy ones, seeing as Cole has that disgusting grey hood with black (same goes for Zane, except silver). Everyone else looks fine. Interesting mini-site, now we finally know what the Wu Cru is! It's a secret society... I'm not surprised this is what Wu-Cru turned out to be, even if it is pretty cheesy It's basically a continuation of the original "Explore" tab or whatever, except more interactive. Sort of like Harry Potter's Pottermore before they ruined it last September. (edit: it really isn't that at all now that I've fully seen it) EDIT: No LEGO, unlike all spiders the Tiger Widow does NOT have eight legs. If they aren't even going to fact check their own quizzes, I'm done already Edited February 2, 2016 by Mandate Quote
DraikNova Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Maybe they're counting the weird additional fangs on the side of her face as legs? There's no way they couldn't have seen the picture directly above their own answer. Quote
gamejutzu Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 the armor feels tacked on ... Is that a good thing? Cole and Zane's are the dodgy ones, seeing as Cole has that disgusting grey hood with black (same goes for Zane, except silver). Everyone else looks fine. Aside from the masks and the silver arms. I meant more of the torso. Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 ... Is that a good thing? I personally don't mind the armor as it's a neat callback to the ZX suit, but I assume Mandate didn't like it based on the way he phrased it. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Cole's scar looks amazing, the new costume brings back good memories. The rest of the ninja in the picture have their airjitzu suits. Quote
Master_Data Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Lego still hasn't updated the current sets with new pieces. I wonder why? I really wanted to see if I could buy a new shoulder pad piece. Bad news about that. I contacted LEGO about some older pieces, and this was their response: As you know, for a long time LEGO® offered Ninjago figures for sale. This past year, however, LEGO had to make the tough business decision to change the way these parts were offered. Though Ninjago is a theme that was created by the LEGO Group the expansion of the line through cartoons, books, video games, etc. meant that there are a lot of outside, creative talents invested in the product now. Due to this, the theme needed to change it's designation and become licensed. Please accept my apologies for the disappointing news that the mini figures can no longer be purchased independent of the sets. Very dissapointing. Edited February 3, 2016 by Master_Data Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 That's good for Ninjago fans. Lego wouldn't spend time or money Licensing a IP if it weren't expected to have huge commercial success. Especially with the theatrical release next year. Quote
kelko585 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Now that I have the Skybound gi Zane and Cole in my possession I can see a big difference in their paint applications on their symbols. While Cole has fairly standard gold-bronze color Zane has very distinct blue metallic almost iridescent finish on his symbol. I wanted to ask you if there are any differences between other ninja? My uneducated guess would be that Nya has metallic finish to her symbol aswell. Quote
Cagast Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Is Ninjago the first theme created by Lego that became licensed? Quote
azog Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Um jay has his outfit outlined with purple. Thats the only other one I know Quote
geezerman402 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Is Ninjago the first theme created by Lego that became licensed? Galidor might take that crown, but I'm not certain. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Is Ninjago the first theme created by Lego that became licensed? Bionicle was, but I do believe it is the first fully System series to be. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Galidor might take that crown, but I'm not certain. Well technically, every new IP LEGO has is licensed, but Ninjago and Bionicle both are licensed with outside sources like Warner Brothers and fox for the movies and such. Quote
geezerman402 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Galidor did have outside dealings for the (awful) TV show, but yes you are right that Bionicle came first. And it could probably be argued that Mixels is the first System theme to be licensed, with the Cartoon Network show. Edited February 3, 2016 by geezerman402 Quote

And it could probably be argued that Mixels is the first System theme to be licensed, with the Cartoon Network show. If we're talking about CN shows, NINJAGO's show predates Mixels by three years. Or what about Atlantis? It had a 30-minute special that was showed on CN every now and again. Quote
Thelegomaster Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 The LEGO Movie is the first, I think. This is big news and all, but this really sucks. I found most of the figures on B&P last night. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 New figures? Or old ones? Quote
PenPlays Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Please take note that having a TV show does not mean that that Lego theme is licensed. In fact, Bionicle, the Lego Movie, and Ninjago might just be the only three licensed themes that aren't sourced from outside companies in the past 17 years of licensed Lego product. Galidor was a joint effort with Lego and Fox. Mixels are a joint effort with Lego and Cartoon Network. Neither were/are protected by license by either party. They were simply co-created, and marketed with each co-creator's budget. Edited February 4, 2016 by Penkid11 Quote
gamejutzu Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) The LEGO Movie is the first, I think. But it's in the name. TLM was licensed from the start. Ninjago is likely the most (or second most) significant theme that went from licensed to non-licensed. And Ninjago definitely had to work for it. There are companies and such coming at NInjago from every direction. You don't see that with other themes. Most only have 1 or 2 other companies working with it. But not Ninjago. At least now, LEGO may put more effort into sets, since it is officially a licensed theme. And LEGO crafts those things with care. And a high price point... Edited February 4, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote
geezerman402 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Well so much for me believing Brickset listing various themes as licensed when they evidently aren't. I'm honestly still surprised Lego lets figure parts be bought individually for any themes still, when figures can play such a huge part in set desirability. PenPlays Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I think it's really smart that Lego licensed Ninjago. Much like Star Wars or Super Heroes (as examples) the main drive for most of these sets is purely the minifigs. By licensing the product they make more money by forcing you to buy the product, rather than ordering just the minifigs. Of course this promotes the shenanigans you find in Star Wars where desirable main characters are typically only in sets that are $50 or more. It would be a shame if we start seeing that more frequently in Ninjago. Quote
NinjaJayNuva Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Bad news about that. I contacted LEGO about some older pieces, and this was their response: Very dissapointing. My emotion on this is mixed, I'm happy that Lego cares about Ninjago, they make it licensed, and they will focus on it more. But in the meanwhile, it also means that the sets might be more expensive in the future, which is not good at all. Quote

New figures? Or old ones? Old news! it's from the Ghost wave, but also it's still from the replacement parts service. Rebooted torso's are also still 'available'. Quote
