Ardelon Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I think the lighthouse is best set of the wave (so far), and not just because of the minifigs - but then, I am biased towards buildings, and this wave doesnt have many. Zanes tumbler is best-looking of the vehicles for me, because of its compactness, which makes it look pretty tough, like a tumbler should be. Quote
pawcanada Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) As someone who only really collects the ninja figures and McGuffin Weapons, I'm annoyed the new versions of the core four are limited to one, quite expensive set (so far anyway). I can't really justify buying the set for them and I know eBay will likely have a larger markup on them than usual. Maybe they should have made Summer 2016 "Skybound part 2" and left "Rise of the Villains" for 2017 so there would be more options for the figures and McGuffin Weapons Edited February 14, 2016 by pawcanada Quote

On the minifig turntable at Nuremberg were two Throwback Jays, so he comes in another set in the summer wave (headwrapless, though) and Zane in his tumbler, also without headwrap. As for the others, maybe in later retailer exclusives? I think the same headwraps will be used in the next wave, so that makes for a full outfit. Quote

I'm the same way I buy for the minifigs and the weapons. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I find it really weird that there are no pictures of Zane's tumbler. Maybe it wasn't there. Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I find it really weird that there are no pictures of Zane's tumbler. Maybe it wasn't there. Same. Have no clue why it wouldn't be there, though, as it was shown everywhere else... On a different note, is anyone disappointed by the lack of villain sets? I mean, we do get some small builds to create in set conflict, but not sure why the villains don't get larger builds as sets... Quote

They always get the smaller vehicles sadly. Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 That's always the case with villains. They always get the smaller vehicles sadly. Not necessarily... This past Skybound wave had mainly villain sets, and those were stellar. Previous waves had an even distribution of villain and hero sets as well, which is why I'm a tad disappointed with this. Quote

makoy Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm getting tired collecting Ninjago vehicles. It's very hard to integrate with my other MOCs. I hope there are only few exclusive minifigs coming out in bigger, more expensive vehicles. Quote
seahawkeye Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I bought the Raid Zeppelin on the weekend & it's bloody fantastic. Great minifigs, great building experience (for me & the kids), and wonderfully swooshable. Can't wait for the Lighthouse Siege (and hope I can resist Tiger Widow Island in the meantime). I love Ninjago. Just love it. Quote
TPLSTER21 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 So, now that we have had another look at the sets I have to say that the Salvage M.E.C.H. is growing on me. It looks like a cross between a Big Daddy from Bioshock and a Roman gladiator. It also looks to have quite a few action features. The right hand/arm can be configured either as a giant crossbow with the blades extended and using the wrist mounted missile launcher, or the blades (which are on "click hinges"...is that what those are called?) can be extended out to form a huge double-bladed sword! The left hand has a net that can be launched via the attached studs by the arm mounted stud shooter. There also looks to be some kind of jetpack or rocket array on the back of the mech. And the tie-fighter cockpit is an interesting touch and works with the overall design of the mech. Hope Ronin minifig comes with all of his weapons/gear. Ronin's Mech and Cole's vehicle look to be in the same size box with similar piece counts so assume they are both $50 USD sets. Pretty good value for what lego has included in each one. The small prison set is pretty bad from a build perspective. Looks like a poor man's version of the dojo from last year. But still, 5 minifigs in a small set is pretty decent. Not sure where the tumbler was...did someone at TLG forget to bring it? Lloyds dragon set looks okay....maybe a bit too similar to the Morrow Dragon set from last year...? Looks like they committed a lot of pieces to the pirate catapult that at the end of the day....is....just a catapult... Lighthouse set looks great. Pretty much everything you could want in a set of it's size/price. Raider set also looks great. Raider build is a huge improvement over the original and Chen's dino-chair-mech thing is a cool build. Expensive set, but lots going for it. I think that one of the 2 "mystery sets" - probably the Temple Grounds - is a smaller one and the other one larger than the Raider. We should know in the next 2 months or so I guess. At this point, my son and I will probably end up getting the lighthouse, mech, tumbler and maybe the temple grounds if it is a smaller set. Quote

Mandate Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 The American DVDs and the European DVDs both consider Tournament of Elements Season 4, Possession Season 5, and Skybound Season 6. So does the website of WilFilm, the studio that produces the episodes. And I don't know where you get the bit about the writers considering ToE and Possession the same season, because they themselves identified Skybound as Season 6 in multiple tweets. I think it's safe to say that Skybound is Season 6 and whatever comes next is Season 7. That's odd. I remember whining about those tweets and the season numbering a while back, and complaining about the season numbering being messed up. I suppose that was because of the Australian packaging. Sorry for the confusion. The only point of contention I've seen from official sources re: season numbering is whether the start of Season 2 is episode 1 "Rise of the Snakes" or episode 14 "Darkness Shall Rise". Otherwise, as far as I've seen, the numbering has been the same worldwide from Season 3 onward. Unfortunately it isn't. Over here ToE and Possession are packaged as Volumes 1 and 2, Volumes 3 and 4 of season 4 respectively. The bundle package is called season 4 as well. Quote

Although I knew a few weren't shown at the ToyFair, I'll be honest when I say I don't really remember those sets. Hopefully more pictures and/or explanations will come closer to the time. Quote

The bundle package is called season 4 as well. Yikes! Sorry about that. That does make things confusing. I wonder why that is. I don't entirely mind the lack of enemy vehicles this time around, particularly since they wouldn't be as coherent as usual due to the enemies being made up of so many different factions. Chen's mecha-steed seems to have the same aesthetic as the other Anacondrai vehicles so it's plausible that all the other factions' vehicles would also share those factions' original design language. Although, if there had been more vehicles, it would have been a cool opportunity for us to get one of those Stone Army vehicles we missed out on the first time around (or in the very least, another Stone Army vehicle to make up for how few sets there were in 2013). Dr.Cogg Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) I wonder if Samurai X Cave is a toysrus exclusive like the City of Stix, also I hope the Airjitzu battle grounds match the temple and come with Sensei Yang. Edited February 15, 2016 by Dr.Cogg Quote
