Job: Driver

Start Log:

The vehicle MANTIS let me drive this week was even cooler than usual: the LW-2 Rover, an amphibious vehicle than can handle land or water with ease.

My job remained the same, confiscate whatever Octan equipment I could. This week we ran across an Octan employee in a speed boat, it seemed he was analyzing the water.

Unfortunately for him, he had no idea what our vehicle was capable of. He simply laughed when he first spotted us on shore, figuring he was completely safe in his boat:

His expression changed quickly after we simply drove in after him:

We even gained another Octan robot out of the deal, as the boat was being piloted by a driver bot:

It was interesting making the build in such a way that I could put the truck in the water, or on shore :classic:

wow, this is awesome! I actually had a really hard time making water on F02 myself with only 2*1 plates. So did you get to this result?

Except for the piracy  , sweet MOC SK! The amphibious vehicle has quite the military feel to it and I love the door (?) on the front.

Really great vehicle and story - the Octan employee's expressions are priceless  Love those shots of the vehicle in the water!

Big Sal pretty much says exactly what I was thinking... Great job!

Excellent build SK, very nice job on the amphibian vehicle, and, as the others mentioned, the expressions on the Octan employee's face is great! I like that the little bot is the one driving the ship as well! :roflmao:

Thanks kabel! And yeah, the water was a bit of a pain, I used standard blue plates under the trans 1x2s, which allowed me to use some larger plates for added strength, the occasional extra trans plates on top were for strength purposes and to make ripples.

Sweet vehicle! I really like the one shot with the vehicle in the water!

Thanks Andrew, I was pretty pleased with how the in-water effect came out :classic:

Awesome job!

Thanks Graham!

Like the vehicle, and how you got it to "float". The submerged section is a great addition, too!

Thank you :classic:

Thanks mrcp6d, and yeah that's a set of bars removed from a prefab doorframe :classic:

That amphibious vehicle is sweet! I love the Octan employee's expression in the fifth picture

Thanks, i had to look for a bit to find suitable heads for the Octan guy :classic:

This is a great build, really like the water and how it could be seen from above and below. Great Rover :classic:

Thanks!

Thanks Big Sal!

That's one multiwheeled truck! You're getting quite good at these MANTIS vehicles!

Thanks Kai, and yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had this many of that style tire :classic:

Big Sal pretty much says exactly what I was thinking... Great job!

Thanks Mike!

Thanks Garmadon! The driver bot is my favorite part of the build, he actually fits perfectly in the driver seats of pretty much all my vehicles

Awesome vehicles and fig choices, SK. Your water continues to impress too!

Thanks mccoyed!

Great build SK!

Thank you :classic:

Great build! I love the gun on the back of the truck. However, I'm going to have to politely ask that MANTIS stops STEALING OUR ROBOTS! Those things aren't cheap!

Thanks, glad you like the gun(s). And as to the robot stealing, that's just it, they aren't cheap, and it's much more economic to 'confiscate' them

Really like the idea and the execution. It's really cool to see the vehicle in the water and it's done well.

Thanks!

That vehicle is just awesome! Love the concept, and the way you showed it in action is fantastic! The way you did the water is perfect for this type of thing!

Great work!

Nice commitment to the water effect. I'm sure that took a lot of time and patience to reset for each picture. The support bricks are a bit distracting, maybe using rocks as supports would look more natural (as in sharp rocks peeking out of the surf that hold up the corners of the water). The texture you gave the water is a really nice touch too.

So very cool! Love those Octan bots as well, hope we see a shot of all the ones you've collected in one of the future builds. Really great gun on the back of that water-jeep as well, looks hard core powerful. I think this is one of my favorite vehicles from you so far - it looks sleek while still cartoonishly large/bulky in some places, which is what I really like about your builds!
