Posted July 17, 20159 yr Okay, finally done! Here are some pictures of my version of the 75054 MOD. Many thanks to Maus for the inspiration and detailed pictures to make this possible. I couldn't be more satisfied. Why TLG doesn't produce a more detailed version like these is beyond me, but I'm glad there are plenty of Lego enthusiasts to make this happen (and plenty of light bley parts on Bricklink). 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr IMG_3040 by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr 75054 MOD by Shawn Minkey, on Flickr
July 17, 20159 yr I'm in love with the red visor port. Going to have to add that to my own mods. The underbelly seems a lot more complete too, with that trap-door out of the way.
July 17, 20159 yr Author Yes, the red visor port really sets it off. And thanks for noticing the extra detailing I added to the underbelly. I know the trap door was put there for added playability, but it takes up a lot of space and leaves no room for added structure. My 5 year old son isn't too happy about it, but I did leave the actually trap door in there and I promised him I would put it back once I snapped some pictures.
July 17, 20159 yr I think it looks very good. However, the feet look out of proportion with the rest of it. Not sure if it is just me or not.
July 17, 20159 yr I think it looks very good. However, the feet look out of proportion with the rest of it. Not sure if it is just me or not. No its not just you, the feet look tiny and the neck is too thin, but thats not Mink66's fault, he'd have to mod the entire model to get it in proportion. What he has done is excellent, really impressed :)
July 17, 20159 yr Overall, really nice MODs to the set. I like your use of tiles to give the walker the armored look. I like your interior, too. The only thing that jumps out at me are the feet; they are just a bit small. Oh wait, the others already said that. LOL
July 17, 20159 yr Woaw, hah, I'm impressed by how much this looks like a scaled-down version of an UCS AT-AT. Great job, well done
July 19, 20159 yr The underbelly seems a lot more complete too, with that trap-door out of the way. Edited July 19, 20159 yr by guleibuti
July 19, 20159 yr Looks great, really nice. A few more ideas here I might try and implement on my AT-ATs.
July 20, 20159 yr Even though most of its an inspired MOD, it is still really good. Did you change the legs to make them more spaced out, to fit that extra toe? or are they just bent further apart?
July 20, 20159 yr Author Did you change the legs to make them more spaced out, to fit that extra toe? or are they just bent further apart? The mounting location of the legs stayed the same. There is enough play in the legs to accommodate the space for the missing toes.
July 20, 20159 yr This is my first post on eurobricks, The AT-AT 75054 is my one and only Lego set. It's my favorite vehicle in Star Wars. I joined this site because of your MOD, I was wondering if you had a list of the necessary parts and instructions to MOD a factory stock 75054 into your fantastic looking model. I'm not heavily into Lego and don't have a ton of LBG pieces, so I'd need to make a bricklink order (or 5!) Thanks for all of your help Edited July 20, 20159 yr by Strait-Edge
July 21, 20159 yr Author I was wondering if you had a list of the necessary parts and instructions to MOD a factory stock 75054 into your fantastic looking model Hi Strait-Edge! Thanks and welcome to the forum! I wish I was more proficient on LDD so I could prepare some instructions and parts list, but unfortunately I'm not. I used the many great pictures Eurobricks member Maus also supplies in his Imgur albums which shows more of the internal structure and construction techniques than my pictures to build mine. Be sure to read through his posts, because again his MOD was the inspiration for my MOD! Just remember that once you get one side of the armor plating and head figured out, the other side is quite easy to construct since it is just the mirror image. If you do start to attempt this and get stuck in a certain spot, just let me know and I will try to clarify or add some additonal pictures.
July 21, 20159 yr I haven't really been so much speechless by a set like this, especially the amount of detail added to make tons better than the actual set itself before modifications. Impressive build, very impressive Edited July 21, 20159 yr by AudiBobaR5-D2
July 22, 20159 yr Author Thanks AudiBobaR5-D2! That's the same way I felt when I saw Maus' modifications and just new I had to try and make a version based on his. Edited July 22, 20159 yr by mink66
July 22, 20159 yr I really like what you did with the head and mid section. After building the newest AT-AT (75054) I realized the design was very similar to the original AT-AT (4483). I enjoyed the fact that your design made a proper area for the Snowtroopers to stand. The only thing I would've done differently is not tiled the sides as the studs are also attractive. Is your head piece mounted to the body in the same way as existing AT-AT sets?
July 23, 20159 yr Author Is your head piece mounted to the body in the same way as existing AT-AT sets? Yes. The mounting technique was not changed. You can see the mounting of the head to the neck in Maus's first photo here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106861&st=25
July 25, 20159 yr How much of the head is original? Or is it totally from scratch? I notice it's a more accurate shape. whats involved in adding the red viewport? I'm headed to the local hole in the wall Lego shop to dig for LBG tiles in a few minutes :)
July 26, 20159 yr Author Almost none of the head is original except for the way the sides attach. Zoom in on some of the head pictures and you can tell pretty well how viewport is constructed. You need some 1X2 inverted brackets to make it work. https://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=86&itemID=109305
July 28, 20159 yr Thanks for the help with those pieces mink, I've decided not to fully plate my at-at but I am doing some mods to it to get the proportions better. I redesigned the sides of the head loosely based on the pics of the inside of the head in the other thread. Is there anyway you could post a pic of the backside of the panel on the top of the head and one of the backside of the "face"? It'd be much appreciated! Thanks!!
August 1, 20159 yr Author Looks great! Any idea what it cost via bricklink to mod it in this fashion? I made a lot of unnecessary bricklink orders simply because I wasn't sure what pieces were needed. So I've got a lot of extra light bley pieces. If I had to estimate I'd say $70 to $85.
