Henry: "Dr. Long, you sent for me?..."

Dr. Long: "Hans-Heinrich Himmelmann, we need to talk."

Henry: "Is this about that young engineer kid I kinda chased out of the Earthship I constructed? The kid was a menace. He'd a' messed it all up!"

Dr. Long: "No... This is about more than that. You are aware that Octan employees are required to abide by certain common-sense rules, are you not?"

Henry: "Oh boy... Yes. I'm aware of tha regulations."

Dr. Long: "Then you are deliberately disobeying them. That's not what I wanted to hear. Let me show you something. Come over here."

"Look into that holo-screen. We're in the O.C.S. Axle's control room. From here I can access all the security footage we gather from our innumerable cameras, corporation wide. I'll give you a glimpse, shall I?"

H3: "That's really not necessa--"

Dr. Long: "Here we have Engineering Bay Gplus-003, where one of your colleagues is testing out Octancorp's latest line of Mecha walkers. He'll have some adjustments to make, assuredly, but do you notice the smile on his face? He's enjoying keeping busy and the harmonious work-environment in which he finds himself. It says so right here in his file. We weren't even testing for that. As soon as he finishes his report on the prototype, we can begin manufacturing these walkers and sell them to customers, and use them for Octan's own interests. He fits in."

"And here we have Hangar Gn-606, where First Branch Executive, and acting CEO, John Hannibal is disembarking on a final mission from the Axle. Observe his purpose and unwavering dedication to Octan and his duties. He is doing his part for our great corporation."

"And here is Third Branch Executive Wick Nole. As much as he would have preferred to be out exploring our new galaxy, for the past few weeks he has been confined to our Med Ward. What do you think he spent his time doing? Do you think he got drunk every night to cope with his misfortune?"

H3: "Let me guess, he di--"

"You see... Octan functions best when its employees all... work together. When we accept events that occur to us, and move forward... together. The dilemma I face with you, when I'm informed by a subordinate that you savagely abused him, is that you are fully capable of working well. All of my observations, and the records in your file indicate that you have a high level of competency at what you do. I respect competency. It is one of the rarest traits in all mankind, to speak subjectively. The problem, however, is that you do not function well as part of the team. Your behavior is erratic and antisocial, and some of your habits are simply non-regulation. Do you think Octan would have missed such incidents as these?"

Incident aboard Axle Report: H3 Vomit in Hallway.

Incident on F02: H3 Verbally Harasses Software Developers.

H3: "So that's why I was stationed there... Some of this feels a bit like a violation of human rights, I gotta say. Are you telling me you watch me every second of the day?"

Dr. Long: "Yes. It's in your contract. Section 12, subsection 14, Line 7. Octan has every single room on the O.C.S. Axle watched, and the air ducts as well. This is a space ship, not a hotel, Mr. Himmelmenn. If something goes wrong we need to know immediately. I did not want to show you all of this, but you left me no choice. You attacked a colleague, Hans-Heinrich. As competent as you are, and as easily controlled through simpler means than this, I must do something, as your Branch Executive, to ensure that you behave. So... Next time I catch you drinking on the job, or with a blood alcohol concentration a drop above regulations, you will find yourself in a much more hostile work environment... after you undergo rehabilitation on one of the most dangerous planets in our control. Have I made myself clear? This is nothing personal. This is for your own good, and Octan's good. We must maintain a harmonious, orderly environment for our employees to truly thrive..."

Wow, Dr. Danielle is cracking down! Glad I'm not in that branch!

I especially like the large build, some pretty clever piece usage on the top part!

So many great scenes with great builds! And a fantastic story!

Also great job including so many Octan players and their stories and integrating them seemlessly.

Very cool Danny. I'm very surprised and pleased with the micro version of my latest spaceship. Did you base that of WIP shots or throw it together after I posted my build? Either way, very impressive. The main build is very nicely detailed, yet very clean, too. As are each of the small scenes. I hope you'll revisit this idea in the future so we can see more of the Axle and the day-to-day activities of the crew. It'd also be nice to see how you planned to edit those screens.

D*mn, this suddenly got very serious compared to earlier builds! Still, great story and perfect seamless integration! Another great build. :classic:

(Also, love the finishing "power shot" from beneath, very imposing.)

Holy cow, that was tough. Not sure how Henry with his alienophobia will take this ...

Great series of builds, great story!

Great story Danny, love all the different vignettes. That micro dropship is really cool!

Thanks! I'm glad you like 'em! Sorry I couldn't fit you into one! I've had your figure made since "Outstanding in her Field" when he cameoed as Dr. Long's unseen driver. (I decided to not show you when I realized you were an explorer and not a "driver" ) Also, you're so active, I wouldn't know what you'd be doing on the Axle anyways!

Nice - I see that my sigfig has somehow masqueraded as an Octan nurse....

Maybe... or maybe that head reminded me of a House character or something... :look: the head popped into my hand at the right time.

You did something to your hair?

I noticed it looks a bit poofy, but it's the same. :look: At least the same piece, if not the same exact one. Maybe it was loose?...

Sorry I couldn't include your figure, either. I actually planned to. I wanted to do a vignette with him holding a microscale ship model. Maybe in his room. I didn't have time, and that was one of my lower priority ones.

Hahaha! Nice builds and story

Thanks! Glad you liked it! I made a very subtle reference to your last build in there... I find that I do that often.

Wow, Dr. Danielle is cracking down! Glad I'm not in that branch!

Hahaha! She's always been that way. Anyways, she doesn't mind you! You do her laundry now and again. That's a surefire way to get on her good side!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to feature you. If I'd had the time, I would have made a dedicated Vig for you next, showing your character reading a book while waiting for the laundry to finish. The semi-circular Control Panel is also a reference to your use of the same technique here. It didn't look like a laundry room, and I didn't have a wall for my control room, so things conspired against my first thoughts for your vignette, and then I realized I only had 3 hours to finish everything, and long story short... next time.

Great builds! I really like the use of panels in the large build

Thanks! You will definitely see more of those... I got a lot from a Pick-a-Brick cup...

At least I wear clothes!

I really like the holoscreen build. Looks very sci-fi / big ship. That last picture looking up at her is really cool, very intimidating!

Indeed you do! Dr. Long's not really sure how to deal with you. You're competent (sometimes by accident) and a real yes-man, but you get a little to close to her for her comfort... so usually she just assigns you to missions far away from her and hopes you'll stop bothering her... doesn't seem to be working though.

Pombe on the otherhand is a constant source of frustration for her... additionally so due to his high pay grade!

Thanks! :purrr: That's what I was hoping for! I'm slowely getting the hang of greebling, I think. It's hard in white, as opposed to dark grey or black (which I'm sure you all can see I have much more of). Hopefully with some more sets and pieces from pick-a-bricks and stuff, I can finally do some larger sci-fi archetecture stuff. Halo-style building, and interesting ships. Nothing to compare to Bob, Sci-Mocs, or Bart De Dobbelier, but maybe one day I'll get the greebling game down. :classic:

So many great scenes with great builds! And a fantastic story!

Also great job including so many Octan players and their stories and integrating them seemlessly.

Thanks! Always great to hear that coming from you, as you are one of my favorite Octan story builders!

Thanks! I would have loved to include more... but time... and fear of heat-strokes... and that wasp that lives in my attic. Originally you were intended to recieve your own vig of your room interior just to add to the unnervingness of the situation. Then I saw you were running with the whole naked thing, so I changes it to a hallway setting, and then I ran out of time, so I added your scene to Kodan's. It probably would have served the pacing a bit better to have Kodan's silly scene and your funny scene as separate entities, but it's fine as it is. I did have some dialogue prepared for a scene with just you, but I'll reserve that for the future.

Thanks! Glad you like it! I admit it's not the absolute best (The hindquarters aren't exactly elegant, as I really don't have many non-plant green pieces.) but it is recognizable. The side sections of the back are my favorite. I got the idea from WIP pics (or, more accurately, I thought "how the megabluck could I micro that?" ), but didn't actually figure it out until after you posted.

Thanks! I really like this idea myself, and missed out on a lot of scenes I had hoped to feature, so more than liekly we will see another build like this out of me.

I may get a chance to edit pictures tomorrow after class. I won't do them all, though. Just one or two. :classic:

Hahaha! Indeed! Gotta show the dark side of Octan sometimes too. MANTIS is a group of violent Mercenary commando types, and Kawashita is a mysterious but honourable warrior company... but Octan is not the "Good guy" team they'd have you believe. They merely guild their roses more thoroughly.

thanks! I loved that shot too! May make it my avatar picture after this Mafia game is finished.

Holy cow, that was tough. Not sure how Henry with his alienophobia will take this ...

Great series of builds, great story!

I didn't know he had alienophobia! Ooh! Should be fun to see what happens next! You did ask for it, after all...

Thanks! Glad you approve!

Very nice build! Dr. Long runs a tight ship... She knows better than to spy on Jebediah...

Thanks! That she does! Sorry I didn't get to do a vig featuring you. I was going to have you standing intimidatingly down with the screen officers below the "Control Deck" or instead of her security officer, but decided not to on a whim because I didn't know how you'd feel about that. Your character is too important to just be a security guard. Also, you were on your own adventure this week, on your own ship.

As far as how Dr. Long sees your character, she finds him useful, and looks at him as more of an equal than she looks at many others. Mostly because as a Special Forces agent, you're comfortable with the shady shit "corporate" orders her to do... And also you trained her troopers.

That was some lecture!

I really like the multi-vig nature of this story and how they all pull the Octan crew together.

Thanks! I really like the style, as I've always been more of a vignette person than a full MoC person.

Glad you enjoyed the lecture!

This is great - I love how many stories you were able to incorporate into your build. I like the hallway details in your main build especially, and as others have mentioned that's a sweet microscale ship!
