I built this little ship from parts acquired from clearance sets at Target and Walmart while on vacation with my in-laws. It is inspired by the neo classic space display I saw at Brickworld and the dragonflies my father-in-law likes to catch and document, the biggest and most prized of all being the fierce dragonhunter. I will admit it is more neo than classic. I used bley and dark bley and there is no bumble bee stripe- but hey, I still think it looks pretty sweet.

There are quite a few sets I parted out, so I can't say for sure where all the parts come from, though I know 2 Benny's Space Ships, a Milano Space Ship and 4 Kashyyyk troopers sets were involved.

After the ship was done, my 2 year old son wanted to play with it, so I had to construct something to keep him busy.

Hence the refueling tanker was made.

He loved to call it "my tankerr twauk!"

Great build, reminds me of an ornithopter from the 1984 Dune movie. Tanker truck is a nice addition, but does iT really run on fossil fuel? ;)

Glad you liked it Jim! It really is a different type of build for me, but something I plan to venture into again!

Looking forward to see what you come up next :classic:

Doesn't whether a space ship is huge or small, I like it when the designer pays careful attention to the color scheme. Usage of duotone, or one or more colors combined with grey elements tend to work out nicely.

Ehm, of course it works as this color scheme was developed many years ago by TLG itself as you probably know as we all know...ClassicSpace forever! :sweet:

This comment might be superfluous, but I meant implementing a certain color scheme in general. Wheter it's blue with grey, or white with dark red (and grey), etc.

And as a designer (ZCerberus in this case) you still need to implement the chosen color scheme in a good way, which he did.

Yes, I agree - I just wanted to say he cannot go wrong as he completely reused the CS color scheme principle (like, for example: 70% blue, 20% gray, 10% trans-yellow)...

This is just great! I'd love to swoosh this around :D

I'm not saying it would pass Lego review for official set status- but it is stable enough to be swooshable by anyone over the age of 7. The rear landing strut is a bit fragile though. A wrong angle can cause collapse!

BTW has it any modularity (like canopy opening, some doors that can be opened etc.)? :look:

EDIT:

Sorry, I did not noticed first time the picture with opened canopy door...eh!

Ornithopters should have beating wings though, right?

No fossil fuels here! These Eco-friendly future space people use spent cooking oil to power everything. Duh!

Besideds the doors, the landing gear moves and the VTOL engines rotate. The engines can be tilted downward a little too if you are careful.

Ah, carcinogenic then - not much better IMHO: what they save on nature they use for self-destruction...kind of nihilistic future, isn't it?

Who says? You don't know much about the future and future otherworldly cooking oils man! Totally healthy.

 That is actually true, but logic of things is telling me they come to solution for the fosil fuels polution like at least 50 years before they solved out how to use used cooking oil without contaminating themselves with carcinogenes..."totaly healthy" way, of course. Therefore there is no difference for them if they use fosil, used cooking oil, dinosaur petrified eggs or anything else anyway. And who says? They themselves...we were chatting in CS channel last century or so...I think it was Benny himself, but not 100% sure of.
