UsernameMDM Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) OoC: It's my last day of classes ever today! Woo hoo! Sorry, had a few final projects to tend to over the last few days. Woohoo! Congrats!!! Hoke gives 40 gold to Matthias and 80 gold to Guts (40 gold for downpayment of Mail of the Renegade Commander). "I like that armor you have there. Don't happen to have another set of it do you?" Hoke looks around a bit, to see what all is around him and if there is anything interesting. "What are we looking for again? An orb of some sorts?" Edited May 7, 2016 by UsernameMDM Quote
StickFig Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 "An Orb of Life, apparently," Matthias says as he carefully takes stock of their surroundings. Quote
Zepher Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Before the heroes can go further into the room, the golems they just destroyed begin to reassemble! The hero prepare their weapons, but the golems are peaceful now, standing in a simple line. Piglina wanders out from behind a pile of treasures. "Thank you for the test. I can see our defenses are... weaker than I'd hoped, but not entirely underwhelming." The golems begin to march off. "I apologize to catch you off guard, but I felt it was for the best if I were going to test if we could really defend something - robbers would not know what lurked in this room if they made it this far. Besides, I may be a little sore still." Piglina tosses the heroes the Orb of Life. "What else were you planning to steal from us?" I'm Dyric Rone, Assas- er, Hero of Heroica. I'm here to deliver a message to Prince David. May you take me to him? "Why should I believe you?" scowls the man. "Prince David has to be kept extra safe right now. King Valentino has gone over the bridge into Orcish lands." "Dyric!" calls Solimon from up in the sky. The mutant lands alongside the Red Lizard archer. "Having trouble negotiating passage? We had a similarly hard time at first." Quote

Before I forget to ask, do we get the 'extra' loot whenever we return to Eubric? "I believe you are mistaking the bounds of my generosity." The were-pig shakes her head. "This is not Zeus' shop. These are unique treasures. I had assumed, when you bartered for entrance into this room, that you had some intention of collecting a gift for your employer or some other noteworthy employer - I thought maybe the Zeigfrieds had put you up to the task - but I guess I was mistaken." OoC: Yes sir! Matthias tucks the Orb away into his bag. "I will bring this to Sir Pigley. Please do show us around the room." Whispering, he asks Hoke and Guts, "What else did we come in here to get?" OoC: Won't make you look for it. "Oh please, your charm makes all the difference." She winks. "Melquiades, believe it or not, isn't so bad looking for a Selkreeth. But it sounds like everyone gets a little something out of this deal except me. Tell you what. I'll go on this little date with Melquiades if you can get your hands on a little something I've heard mention of called the Eye of the Blind. Apparently it's in the room of treasures. I think Melquiades knows that I've got sticky fingers because he won't let me in there." I was here a few...I don't even know how long ago now - a few months ago? Ask Prince David. He'll attest to that. Greetings, Solimon. Parted from your friends, I see? "Not at all," says Solimon with a smile. "Zane is leading us to a little city called Eubric, as he promised the sisters and I. We trekked through Baltarok, but upon coming to this city we found that the prince had a particular interest in those who lived forever." He smiles, and then turns to the guard. "Well? Let us in." The guard begrudgingly opens the door. Solimon leads Dyric towards the palace. "How did things go in Etheria? I'm sure Zane will want to know." At the steps of the palace the two pass more guards, and step through some big double doors. There they are greeted by a few familiar faces. Parvati, Zane and David all stand conversing. Upon seeing Dyric, David's face lights up. "Dyric. Welcome back. I apologize for the security measures - my father is across the river in Baltarok right now, and precautions are necessary should something happen to him. I have heard, though, that you were successful in your quest!" "Yeah and a real pain in my butt about it." Quote

Instead I turn to David, and give a respectful bow. I did in fact locate the Fountain of Youth. Thank you for your efforts in aiding us, Prince. I see you've made acquaintance with the Court of Demons. I hope you've thought that through to its fullest. Edited May 9, 2016 by The Legonater Quote

Piglina frowns as she hears what they've come to collect. "Powerful," she says as she inhales, but she stares at the Orb she has just handed Matthias. "But... what's to be done? Follow me." She leads them through stacks of treasure and eventually finds what looks like a small coin. She flips it to Hoke. "Be careful with that. Are we done now? Surely we'll need to be getting you back to Eubric shortly. I'm sure you have other foreign powers to overrule." Well enough. Eubric? I worry of what Zane plans, but don't dare pry now. Instead I turn to David, and give a respectful bow. I did in fact locate the Fountain of Youth. Thank you for your efforts in aiding us, Prince. I see you've made acquaintance with the Court of Demons. I hope you've thought that through to its fullest. David glances at Zane and the other as if it's for the first time. "Perhaps I haven't." His eyes linger on Zane's green skin. "But they are not my permanent guests. Only stopping for a short while, and then they'll be on their way. Regardless, there is some essence that you can almost feel off the green-skin." Zane's eyes flare at the slur, but he keeps calm. Solimon and Parvati watch him closely. "There is no doubt that he's had a drink from the Fountain. Can't you sense some sadness from him? It is a heavy thing to carry, immortality." David sighs, and turns to the hero. "But please, by your own account, what happened at the Fountain of Youth? And were you ever able to find the Captain Mighty Harold Iceborn?" Quote
StickFig Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) OoC: Won't make you look for it. Yes, it would have been strange for Matthias to know, since he was (ironically enough) talking to Piglina while Guts was finding out about The Eye. "Powerful," she says as she inhales, but she stares at the Orb she has just handed Matthias. "Care to share about its powers?" Matthias asks. "Surely if you dislike us taking it - at an Etherian's request, I must believe - you can give us your reasons why? And for that matter, what can you tell me about this Orb, and why you want it taken to your brother?" Edited May 10, 2016 by StickFig Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Hoke snatches the coin out the of the air and looks it over in his hand. "What does it do?" Hoke asks, echoing Matthias. Quote
Zepher Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 "Hm, investigating powers before you decide to abuse them. I thought you operated in the opposite order," mused Piglina. "The Orb of Life operates much like your Norn's artifact, combined with the Fountain of Youth, but should be a watered down version of both. Pigley should be able to sustain considerable more damage this way and survive the encounter, and his life span should also be improved greatly, though not forever. Pigs only live about eight or nine years, and he's getting up there as it stands. Etheria's magic will keep me alive a long time yet, and regardless of our different paths I don't want to be out a brother." "As for the Eye of the Blind, it's a bit multipurpose in its use. It is capable of allowing the user to see that which isn't there - be it light on the darkest of nights, or magical enchantments invisible to the naked eye. And, of course, it can hide the user easily as well. A powerful trinket, especially when going up against fellow mages. Be smart about handing it out willy nilly." "So, are we done here?" Quote

We managed to acquire his half and fight the Fountain, Zane followed us. Matthias and Zane both drank from the Fountain. We actually found Iceborn in our next destination, the mythical Etheria. Quote

That is a lot of power for him..." David muses. "But, there's nothing I can do about it now. Keep an eye on him, is all I'd advise. It can be dangerous if one lives too long and doles out justice, as a hero does. They may come to mistake themselves a god." "I'd like to thank you for bringing me news of what happened. I believe this should be ample payment." Prince David hands Dyric a Phoenix Incense, a Phoenix Essence, and 50 gold. "Say, buddy o' mine, how are you planning to get back to Eubric?
