I originally kept her on Protestors A because I copied it from last round. Then I realized that was wrong. So I went back, un-KO'd them, and apparently accidentally moved her attack to Protestors B... so I was wrong, fixed it, you were wrong on how to fix it, but right that I was wrong a second time. :blush:

Hybros and Hoke finish the battle swiftly, killing about ten citizens of Dastan between them in one brutal whirl of motion. Vipera drifts alongside Torc as she finishes the battle, breathing fire down upon the battle field. Vipera adds her own flame to the inferno, and though a much smaller stream it burns even hotter. The heroes are enclosed in a flaming circle with a clear path to the palace open. The citizens who didn't take up arms step back, afraid of the might.

She looks out at the carnage, and listens as the cry of "Dastan for the Dastanians!" is taken up. A balding man in heavy armor, missing one eye (it would seem) steps forward to quiet the crowd. They flock around him, and the heroes can see him gesticulating towards the palace and the carnage in front of it.

The heroes and Ella step inside and follow the others. After a few minutes of freshening up, they all congregate at the feast hall. Once the sight of a great battle, it is now filled with small tables, food, and drink. Ten or so odd guests mill around - both those they brought, and a few others.

"Heroes! Welcome back to Dastan once again." Septrine smiles widely. "Please, enjoy the feast. My daughter and your friend Tarn will be down shortly to join us all."

Hoke nods his head and greets Septrine.

"My thanks for your hospitality."

Hybros tipped his hat at who he assumed must be one of the three emperors of Dastan, judging from his crown. He thought to ask the man's opinion on the current state of affairs in Dastan, but thought better of it considering it was a social gathering. He contented himself to smile and nod to the emperor, and sidle over to Lady Felix and the woman in white.

"Hello." He tilted his hat to the woman, too. "I am Hybros." He fidgeted with his gold pouch, not sure what else to say and embarrassed that he didn't know any names of the royal guests. As well, he was a little uncomfortable with being at a grand feast when there were citizens discontent enough to attack the princess just outside the palace.

Arthur bows low before the Emperor. "It is both an honor and a pleasure to return to Dastan, Your Highness." He pauses, chuckling. "Although it is a bit surreal--only moments after we entered I could see where we fought Blackenord, as clearly as if it was still taking place. I'm just glad none of the fighting ever extended into the dining room itself."

"So, I hear that Princess Ella and Tarn are to wed. How go the wedding plans? Has a date been announced yet?"

Miirym flies around, staying near Vipera and U'Daras. She remains silent, in consideration of Vipera's words of wisdom.

"My thanks for your hospitality."

"Of course. Any hero is a friend of mine. They saved my life and the life of my daughter, so we owe your organization an enormous debt. Please make yourself comfortable. I'm Emperor Severus Septrine, by the way." He offers his hand.

"Oh my... well, if you say so. Things are much better in Eubric, that I can assure you."

"Every land has it's troubles, Eubric no exception. I know that when Ella was there she stayed in the Slums, as that is where the Oracle is. Surely those people rebel as well. At least in Dastan the people are willing to put their hearts where their mouths are. It isn't ideal to have chaos on the streets, and the old racism is just that, but the people... we know if they are discontent, is what I'm trying to say."

"This is the trouble we face a great trouble. For many years the U'Kin were unhappy and left silenced for many years. How can we now silence others?"

If she were a Hero, she'd be prime Veteran material--the woman was prepared to single-handedly turn nearly thirty men's attacks back upon themselves without a trace of fear, and her words bear the wisdom and authority to bring even the most unruly ruffians in line. She seems as true a Dastanian as you or Emperor Alandri or Emperor Phyllius--I simply don't comprehend why the people fail to see her as one of their own."

"As regards this...admirer of Blackenord's work, you'll have to introduce us when he arrives. I'm a great proponent of the potential of automata, particularly those of the Tritech Corporation in Eubric, but Blackenord's designs have a particular history with both me and Dastan...one I'd prefer not see repeated."

Torc stalks away from Hoke and heads toward Vipera.

I do not know much about it, but we have already had to protect him and the princess from the dangers just outside these castle walls. Are you a warrior yourself?"

This is a Dastan my own father would never recognize."

"I am well aware, yes." Septrine grimaces. "Ella insists that she continue to step out into the streets. This is not the first time there has been violence against her. I worry for her, but she demands she be allowed to see the people daily. She will take over for me one day and already serves as a trusted advisor, who am I to tell her what to do?"

Hoke takes Septrine's hand and gives him a firm solid shake.

We heard that things were getting a little dicey with the U'Kin here, and I came around to make sure U'Daras didn't have too difficult a time taking the throne. And yes, a warrior. I hail from Vartland originally. I can promise you, you're worth very little there if you can't fight. A prophet too, to boot. Ella and I have gotten on a-okay."

In theory, I can understand clinging to a system that works, but in practice I have only ever seen it lead to tyranny, oppression, and decay--Xu was a prime example, before the revolution. Dastan is the only place I've known that didn't follow that pattern, but now it seems that my old impressions were, perhaps, misinformed."

Arthur relaxes visibly at the news of the Emperor's trust in the tinkerer, but tenses again momentarily at the 'golden' description. "Golden...? Well, I am glad to hear that this new inventor's intentions have been proven noble. I would still like to meet these people, of course."

As she sits listening to the Dastanians, Miirym hears something...a soft whisper, like wind passing through mist. What was that? she wonders, looking to Vipera and Torc to see if either had sensed something similar. With only that moment's distraction, however, she resumes her attempts to listen once more.

Hels, I'm ready to see U'Daras be Empress, like I said. But these people. It's a lot to ask them, to give up a huge part of what they know. I wouldn't come to Eubric and tell you that you were all ruled by a Emperor now. They don't... the U'Kin to them... many of them have never gotten to know a U'Kin. They're as much a foreigner as Valco to most of these people."

"Natasha is here." The Emperor points to the woman Hybros has engaged in conversation. "Ask her about her Inventor. From what she's said she's the ring leader of that group."

Miirym continues to listen to the conversation, having missed a little bit of it thanks to her discussion with Vipera.

"The U'Kin in Eubric enjoy much more freedom. It was rare for a head to turn when I was there with the Princess it was odd for a head to turn, though there are few U'Kin in the city."

"Yes, U'Voros, it is well known that you went to Eubric with the Princess, U'Voros."

"I will prove myself to these people."

"The trouble of course being that as soon as you do, they grow to fear you more. The more fearsome you seem, the more Dastanian, the more they will fear you. It is a strange but dangerous contradiction."

"Sven is making it no easier. Do you think that it's possible he may call for the Right of the People, do you think so?"

"I fear he may. It has not been used in many years, but..."

Miirym cannot read any specific thoughts, but it is clear this is a conversation between friends to her.

"It sounds like you have a relationship that should be mended and very soon. He did not sound too friendly outside, and he may feel alienated since you haven't spoken to him since you became the emperor. Perhaps you should invite him to this feast."

"Sven isn't a petty man. He's not doing anything he's doing out of feeling slighted. As for inviting him to the feast - I'm afraid the time for that has passed. At this point it will only serve to weaken the ground the U'Kin have won, I think. As soon as we give concessions. That's not the Dastan way."

Torc finds that Vipera remains silent, and can sense vaguely that she may be making fun of the larger dragon's constant silence in doing so.

Hybros scratched his head. "Golden Crusade, hm?" He thought he recognized the name, but shrugged and gave up. There were so many organizations - the Crimson Crown, Order Imperial, Red and Blue Assassins, Wolfgang... all with their own motives. It was hard to remember who wanted what. "No? How quickly heroes forget their friends. I think my friend Deborah may have helped you recover your people not to long ago." Natasha smirks. "Pretty much what you described though, yes. All we're looking to do is ensure that U'Daras lives long enough to take that throne - the sooner the better. One of my compatriots has a passion for automaton as well, and he had some notes he wanted to pick up here. And to even add to the appeal of the city, I'm a bit of a history nut. Princess Ella recently recovered a book of old tales of a Princess and Warrior. Think it may have helped finding your people, actually. She donated it to the Dastan Library. I've been flipping through. Add to that the fact that there aren't all that many prophetesses around, and it's nice to meet another. So, our visit to the city is triple pronged."

At that moment Ella and Tarn walk into the room. Tarn stands a little shyly in the doorway, a bashful grin on his face. Ella smiles kindly at him, pats him on the back, and wanders over to Lady Felix.

Arthur raises his hands and bows slightly in apology, doing his best to speak diplomatically. "Forgive me, then, your highness. I am speaking of things I do not yet comprehend. Perhaps in time, I will come to do so. Hel, if the Wolfgang get their way, Eubric will come to be under a king's rule...and the oppressed in the city seem to be on the Wolfgang's side. Perhaps as that threatens to come to pass, I will better understand the plight of the Dastanian people." Sensing that it would be best to give the Emperor some space after the Dragoon's blunder, Arthur drifts over to Natasha just in time for Tarn and Ella to enter. Arthur waves Tarn over.

"Tarn!" he calls loudly, just as he had the last time they'd met. "It's good to see you again. How have you been since we helped the Princess retrieve that storybook from beneath the sea?"

Miirym continues to listen to the conversation, having missed a little bit of it thanks to her discussion with Vipera.
