Posted July 23, 20159 yr So I took Rock Island Refuge, and made it awesome. Added a beach, a sunken ship. I did take ideas from other MOCs ive seen here and I am very happy with the outcome. I kept the original Lego colors :) too. July 24, 20159 yr As I said before, it's beautiful. I think I'll steal a couple of ideas when I start working on my own redention of the rock island refuge
July 24, 20159 yr And a pirate's paradise it is! It has a very classic feel to it, I love the shipwreck. Good job!
July 24, 20159 yr Treasure - check Drink - check Woman -check I would say this is a paradise. Well done.
July 24, 20159 yr Author Thanks all and glad you like it. It was a fun build, and goes along great with my Imperial Fort. Ill take a pic of them both together later on.
July 24, 20159 yr This looks like it could be an actual Lego set... if only I were a kid again. Very well done!
July 25, 20159 yr So I took Rock Island Refuge, and made it awesome. I love your confidence! I also love this scene. You've done some great work here. I agree that this would make an excellent set - it's the kind of thing one could play with or just sit and look at. I especially like that your sunken ship is actually fleshed-out instead of being a bare skeleton like a lot of TLG's sunken ships (which I still think are cool). Very well done.
July 25, 20159 yr Drink to your hearts content! Bluecoats are coming!!! Edited July 25, 20159 yr by blackdeathgr
July 25, 20159 yr Yep, you made it awesome alright. The original set is still visibly obvious but you've added a lot of good features. The larger layout is great and the half-sunken ship is better than any shipwreck island TLG ever made. Rather than being an all-out Moc this looks like a fun play set. Rather than being some tiny defenseless island it looks more like a pirate outpost built on a rocky outcrop on the coast of a much larger island, which is more accurate. The assortment of minifigs is nice and their, uh, activities look realistic too. Good work.
July 25, 20159 yr Fine layout, looks good. I like the wreck and the monkeys appearing! Treasure - check Drink - check Woman -check I would say this is a paradise. Well done. Monkey - check
August 3, 20159 yr You made a really classic looking piratebase. I tried to make something like yours but I never was satisfied and destroied it. You made it better :)
August 3, 20159 yr Looking at the recently-bumped review of the big Islander set, this is actually the sort of thing I imagined (that set combined with a shipwreck). This actually works better for the line, IMO, and looks like an official set from the period, too. Since the 2015 sets seemed to be "updates" of the 2009 ones, the one element poorly carried over IMO was the inclusion of a large "shipwreck" structure like this or the Shipwreck Hideout... I'd love to see an official set based along these lines if they do a second wave.
August 3, 20159 yr Author Banjo I would also like to see TLG make a shipwreck pirates hideout, but mostly just want them to make a Bluecoats ship.
