Scubacarrot Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) A no longer valid attack usually gets redirected to the first untargetted enemy, doesn't it? Guts spends 1 turn shrugging of his stun, the other attacking the Baby Worm head A with Rapier, the Body A with Mythril's Edge. "I don't know, Dyric. We save Daneeka. Then we figure it out." StickFig Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 A no longer valid attack usually gets redirected to the first untargetted enemy, doesn't it? I would vote it does. Matthias lies still, twisted and crushed on the hot sand, his hands still on his cannon. Once again a fever dream of healing those around him swirls through his unconscious mind. Quote

StickFig Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) "I release you from any obligation and I pray you might find your sister well!" the gnome calls after Parvati as she departs. Before Rone's words reached the druid's ears - in fact as soon as Daneeka's form became visible - Matthias had begun to pull in as much ether as he could handle, praying desperately to Orrik for strength. Now he carefully unleashes the torrent with all the healing skill he can muster, one hand on the Anvil in hopes of strengthening the connection to his god. Edited December 15, 2015 by StickFig Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Guts scowls at the running Parvati. She could have been a bargaining chip to get the information they want, he realizes too late. But, they had Daneeka. For now. "Save him Matthias. Tell me if you need anything." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 “Dyric, why don't you tell me what happened since I last saw you?“ Quote
The Legonater Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 You talking about since we got separated, or past quests? Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Guts smiled: "Maybe when we're on the boat to Etheria you could tell me about your past quests. For now, what happened? I saw Matthias swallowed, then something hit me, I think a worm, and then I blacked out for a while. When I came to, I was on top of the inn, and you weren't anywhere in sight. I decided to go after Matthias first, because I knew he was definitely in trouble..." Quote
The Legonater Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 The inn? That's some distance. I woke with Zane and Solimon. They tried to deal again, I said I couldn't make a lot of promises without you. I got them to at least begin to cooperate. I figured you could take care of yourself, and Matthias would still have his Heroic protection - but Daneeka was eaten and could potentially die. We went after him but found Parvati and Matthias first. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 "Heroica protection, huh... Not sure I believe it. Sure, we get lucky, a lot, but some Heroes have died... Anyway. What do you think Zane is going to do now?" Quote
Zepher Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Matthias heals the Doc, expending 3 ether in the process, but with the stomach acid still coating him he begins to bubble once again. The heroes would need to quickly find something to dip him in. The heroes see familiar wyrm trails in the distance, moving lazily in no specific direction. Dyric and Matthias recall that their guides had warned them that they were heading into wyrm territory. As long as the heroes didn't move, they were safe, but unless a sandstorm masked their movements they were always in danger of being attacked as soon as they started to step heavily. Quote
The Legonater Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 The heroes would need to quickly find something to dip him in. ...Exactly what does that mean? "Heroica protection, huh... Not sure I believe it. Sure, we get lucky, a lot, but some Heroes have died... Anyway. What do you think Zane is going to do now?" Gather more power. Grow stronger. Someday it will consume him. Quote
Zepher Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 OoC: Like, something to wash him off in? Or figure out some other way to get the stomach acid off of him. Quote
StickFig Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Popping a tonic, Matthias does his best to brush the acid off Daneeka with sand. As the others talk, he makes a wry face. "Glad to know you trusted my life to that Nordic magic," he says. "The two sisters, Parvati and Medusa, grabbed me and dragged me off at first, but I convinced Parvati at least to go after Daneeka with me. She might've eventually come to our side but I don't think so now." Pulling out his compass, the gnome concentrates on the closest edge of wyrm territory, wondering if the party could make a break for it and fight their way out without too much trouble, then get to the inn. After noting that direction, he has another idea and wills the compass to point to the nearest water source deep enough for a bath. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Guts starts scrubbing Daneeka with clean sand. Quote
The Legonater Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Okay, I have an idea. We use what shovels we have to dig out a hole deep enough to lay Daneeka in. Then we used our drinks to bathe him and get all the acid off. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 "The sand should clean most of him off, then we use my supply of potions to soak him. What do you think, Matthias?" Quote
Zepher Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 The heroes rub sand on Daneeka, but they are not able to get the get all the stomach acid off, which makes sense because the worm's victims are normally covered in sand. Matthias expends another two ether, and Daneeka's grunts. "Alive, at least," he says tiredly. "But we have lost time." The sky is growing dark. "We must make our way immediately to the Fountain. I am not sure if I can survive to the edge of the wasteland, and we will have difficulty traveling in the darkness. You need to find the other half of that map, and swiftly." Matthias' compass points to the west for both inquiries, though water in the wasteland may have magical protection to throw off those with compasses. Quote
