Blackhawk STX Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Location: D04 Terrial Minor Tags: Kawashita, Terrial Minor, Spaceship, Military Mr. S: Let’s see… Mitchell, Darin. Aka Blackhawk. We have a mission for you. Blackhawk: Yes, sir! Rootin’, tootin’, ready for shootin’! Mr. S: Yeah, well, the last time you shot something, you took out one of our planes! Blackhawk: What was that pilot’s name again? Oh, well, he isn’t pressing charges, so who cares? Mr. S: Hmm… Let’s see. I do, for one. And so does the board. We lose enough equipment due to MANTIS activity. We don’t need to lose more because of an over-eager pilot! Even Aera couldn’t defend your actions. She was sitting quietly in the corner pretending not to know you! Blackhawk: Am I being (gulp!) grounded? Mr. S: No, we can’t afford to do that. You’re a hell of a pilot. You handle anything that flies like no one I’ve ever seen. It’s just that you’re overly… enthusiastic. You need to rein that in a bit. Blackhawk: Umm… Yes, sir. What do you want me to do? Mr. S: We have intel that MANTIS is sending a supply convoy to Terrial Minor. We want to intercept them with a Kestrel in orbit before they make planetfall. Blackhawk: Yes, sir! On my way! Blackhawk, moving out!! Mr. S: Hey, at least up there, there isn’t anyone else for him to shoot down… After last week's un-inspired session, I did a little research. I've felt like I needed to up my game a bit, and I think I came up with some possibilities. This is the first attempt in my build style change. I think it's going in a good direction. C & C's welcome! Oh, and Mike S, thanks for being a good sport and not going too hard on me... Quote
Ferdinando Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 The ship's lines are just as sleek as they should, but combine an exotic feeling that I think is very fitting for Kawashita. Well done! Quote
Col. Brik Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 A very F1 or Indy car type feel to the ship. I love it. Quote
Mike S Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Great shape and nice piece usage! Oh, and Mike S, thanks for being a good sport and not going too hard on me... Quote
mccoyed Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I like that nose a lot. Interesting way to give it a sleek, "bullet" shape. Quote

gurusql Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I especially like the view from the top. Very nice look. Quote
robuko Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Your ships are really developing, it still feels like your style but there is much more complex shaping of surfaces and volumes here than in your earlier ships. I think you could improve futher around the cockpit-hull join and and wingtips. Nice build. Quote
shmails Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Very cool design, sleek and very Kawa in design. I really like that nosecone area, really neat solution there. Quote
Garmadon Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Very sleek ship Blackhawk, you just keep improving! Fantastic shaping here, some of my favorite details are the barrels in the back and the dark red 2x2x1 slope up top - this is probably your best ship yet! Quote
pombe Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I love the techniques used here, especially your transitions from SNOT to studs up and back. The design of the nose, of course, will get the most attention here, and deservedly so. Quote
Kodan Black Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I agree with others that it is your best ship yet. Very sleek look to it too. Quote
aeralure Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I really like the direction your building is going and agree with everyone else that this is your best one yet. Your story ability from an entertainment point of view hasn't changed a bit and this is also a positive. Alas, I was indeed sitting in a corner quietly two weeks in a row, sadly. Great job on the build. Quote
Blackhawk STX Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 I especially like the view from the top. Very nice look. Thank you! I like how it turned out as well... Your ships are really developing, it still feels like your style but there is much more complex shaping of surfaces and volumes here than in your earlier ships. I think you could improve futher around the cockpit-hull join and and wingtips. Nice build. Thanks! I've been trying to get away from how I built my previous ships, which usually involved using large plates as a base, so I'm pleased with the result here. I will take note of your recommendations and see how I can improve there. Very cool design, sleek and very Kawa in design. I really like that nosecone area, really neat solution there. Considering the quality of your builds, I really appreciate your input! Thanks! Very sleek ship Blackhawk, you just keep improving! Fantastic shaping here, some of my favorite details are the barrels in the back and the dark red 2x2x1 slope up top - this is probably your best ship yet! Thank you very much! I hope to put out even better builds, and soon! Of course, improvement is a mix of time and experience, so we'll see how long it'll take... I love the techniques used here, especially your transitions from SNOT to studs up and back. The design of the nose, of course, will get the most attention here, and deservedly so. Yeah I like to try to put something... different in each build, if I can. This week was a SNOTty nose. Glad it worked! I agree with others that it is your best ship yet. Very sleek look to it too. Thanks! I'm hoping it's the start of a trend... I really like the direction your building is going and agree with everyone else that this is your best one yet. Your story ability from an entertainment point of view hasn't changed a bit and this is also a positive. Alas, I was indeed sitting in a corner quietly two weeks in a row, sadly. Great job on the build. Thank you! Sometimes coming up with a good story can be as challenging as coming up with a good build. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep both going strong! After a two week hiatus, I'll be looking forward to your next build! Very cool ship! Thank you! Quote
aeralure Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Thank you! Sometimes coming up with a good story can be as challenging as coming up with a good build. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep both going strong! After a two week hiatus, I'll be looking forward to your next build! Don't I know it. Having problems with the bar being raised so high for weekly submissions. Story, multiple scenes, minifigures. A woven together story has been eluding me. I'm lucky to get a build. But thanks! I hope to have something again sometime soon, and hope to get back on track to be more regular again about it. Quote
Big Sal Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Great ship and story! I love the barrels for engines Quote
Blackhawk STX Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Great ship and story! I love the barrels for engines Thanks, Sal! Those barrels do tend to come in handy... Quote
