Emjajoas Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) Mortimer sighs, rubbing his eye, and glances at Avina. "U'Reeka is dead, is he not?" He lets the comment hang in the air, deep in thought. "Who was it that received the pieces? Better yet, when did U'Reeka return them? Avina, you've a better sense of time than I, I'm sure-- see if it matches up. And..." "Hold on, if the Ji Pei are after you, what are you doing in a Tritech lab?" Mencot Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) Keliim listens to the story, one that he didn´t know anything about. Everything of it was new to him. Invented an automaton, gone Missing, stolen parts, automatons here, automatons there. This old man, seem to be a victim after he invented and planned them, now he is maybe hunted for it... who knows. So the big man kept his mouth shut, for now. Hoping the others would go easy on the man. Until Mortimer's comment, "Hold on, if the Ji Pei are after you, what are you doing in a Tritech lab?" "Right, if this is true that his former employer is huntin' him, why still here..." Keliim thinks but he try to keep calm because they don´t know how much of the things this man says is because of him trying to protect himself. Keliim speaks up, "Why ist thou still doin' here then?" "Thou know what, I was´t to trust thee but aye, Cut th' crap, ol' man! Whats thou actually know 'bout all this an' what where thou doin' there right now?" Keliim try to look behind the man's back to see what he was doing! Edited September 22, 2015 by Mencot
Kintobor Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 "U'Reeka?... The U'kin aren't known for their subtlety, are they... Of course. Any idea where he or she might be? And no tricks or we do to you what we did with that pretty genie of yours." "We're trying to get information out of him, not traumatize him." Annienal replies to Calamity's statement. "Can you try, for even a minute, to be less aggressive?" Mortimer sighs, rubbing his eye, and glances at Avina. "U'Reeka is dead, is he not?" Annienal blinked confusedly at Mortimer. "Um... can someone explain what's going on here?"
Emjajoas Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 OOC: Important last-minute things came up so I'm going to be going away for a couple of days starting tomorrow with probably no internet access. I'll leave Kintobor as Party Leader and in control of Mortimer. Sorry for the inconvenience, at the latest I'll be back on Friday.
CMP Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 It's fine. "U'Reeka?... The U'kin aren't known for their subtlety, are they... Of course. Any idea where he or she might be? And no tricks or we do to you what we did with that pretty genie of yours." "No, I-I've never met him, personally..." Mortimer sighs, rubbing his eye, and glances at Avina. "U'Reeka is dead, is he not?" "...and that would be why." Annienal blinked confusedly at Mortimer. "Um... can someone explain what's going on here?" Mortimer and I killed him some time ago. He had been performing unnatural experiments and rituals underground in Eubric, threatened an entire city. We destroyed him and his unnatural creations...unless..." She paced back and forth, clearly a bit agitated. "...he had very advanced technology and access to Moon Elf magic...and the man was a mad genius...it's possible...maybe he lived?..." "Th-There was an incident. I hired Heroica to help me re-aquire the automaton, it had been...lost in transit. I sent it to its client, one Avina Truenal...." "Mail fraud. Long story." "....but later it turned up to be involved in some sort of staged crime. Its perpetrator was killed, and the crime quashed, again thanks to Heroica, and your people entrusted the parts to U'Reeka. He sent them back to the Ji Pei on the request of the heroes." "But he still would've had plenty of time to take the technology for himself. But we later killed him for an unrelated crime..." "Hold on, if the Ji Pei are after you, what are you doing in a Tritech lab?" "I have no other skills! I...I was as loyal as I could be to the Ji Pei, how was I to know the politics between them and the Blue Hand?! I could not bear to abandon the cause of the Ji Pei, so I contacted the head scientist here, Miss Telsa. It was a low-key position, so I continued working for the Ji Pei in secrecy, but assassins have been looking for me for months..." "Thou know what, I was´t to trust thee but aye, Cut th' crap, ol' man! Whats thou actually know 'bout all this an' what where thou doin' there right now?" Keliim try to look behind the man's back to see what he was doing! "That is all I know, I swear to you!" "Damn it. Damn it. Yet another empty lead, but....this is why these problems have to be STOPPED. U'Reeka should be dead, but he created an entire race of abominations, he could've been capable of anything!" Avina turns away from Chalvo in disgust. The old man looks close to tear with the sheer stress of the situation thrust upon him. Out the window, the heroes can see movement on the docks below: more automatons were knocking on their door. The alchemist shakes her head, turning to the party. "....What do you figure we do with him? He's not exactly able to hide here now....and what he's been helping researching here is unacceptable."
Scubacarrot Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 "You reckon he can save us another tumble with those scrapboxes?"
CMP Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 "You reckon he can save us another tumble with those scrapboxes?" "Getting away won't be a problem, I'm sure we can escape to the roof or something. They have to clunk their way up a flight of stairs or two...but leaving him to them is an option. I for one would advocate killing him..."
Scubacarrot Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 "Why would the automatons kill him? I mean, I presume those things are still on their whole, exterminate the heroes trip."
CMP Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 "Why would the automatons kill him? I mean, I presume those things are still on their whole, exterminate the heroes trip." "Oh, I doubt they would kill him."
Mencot Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 This all was a bit confusing but Keliim started to get a hang on the whole thing but there seemed not to be a moment here to figure this whole thing out because of the automatons outside made the situation, again "hasty". The big man was annoyed that Avina was planning to kill the old man, the man wasn´t actually really innocent in all this, no. But Keliim looked on the stressed and broken man and felt sorry for him. "We ain't gonna kill him, we take him with us an' leave before those damn robots art here inside." Keliim says to Avina and looks angrily at her. "Whats wouldst thou gain from killin' him?" Keliim thinks, "Those machine's ain´t after him, they art after heroes, Heroica and I guess thou Avina, maybe!" "I thinkt that it wast a decoy from the "Eubric Knight" to hunt thugs and lowlife, to gets the attention of us... For Revenge!" He looks at Avina and Mortimer, "Where didst thou "kill" this U'kin? Wouldst think, if he is alive, that he hast somekind of place from where he works, several dozens of robots, if not hundreds... take up a lot of space!"
Scubacarrot Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 "Maybe he keeps them in the void." Calamity suggests. "You can create tears in the fabric of our reality and store things, just like your standard bags of holding, but bigger. But... It's difficult, and dangerous, prone to ripping the physical world apart. But... it's possible, technically."
Mencot Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 "Th' ethereal void, hmm, possible... I remember seeing all kinds of things, real an' unreal when i wast there but in this case Maybe not afterall." "An' it doesn' matter right now, th' first thing to do now wouldst to get out of here, right! An' then seek some leads on this U'reeka, his he dead or alive!"
Kintobor Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 "....What do you figure we do with him? He's not exactly able to hide here now....and what he's been helping researching here is unacceptable." "If the robots are after us, than he's safer not being around us, but I doubt he'd be able to get far without someplace to go..." Annienal pondered about their situation, knowing she was running out of time.
Mencot Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Keliim started to prepare that the walls maybe would soon blow in, so he drank a Mead. He looked, searhing for a way to escape. "Hows do we get to th' roof then? I say, we get him out of this buildin' an' then thinkst 'bout what to do to him!"

It's difficult, and dangerous, prone to ripping the physical world apart. But... it's possible, technically." "That...is a worrying possibility." "We ain't gonna kill him, we take him with us an' leave before those damn robots art here inside." Keliim says to Avina and looks angrily at her. "Whats wouldst thou gain from killin' him?" If the machines are out to kill heroes, maybe it was all to draw you out." "U'Reeka was killed in an ancient forge in the city of Nu Mercution, deep beneath Eubric. I still know of the exit we used to escape it...perhaps we could go down there. Assuming it's him. And assuming he's there...I don't like this guesswork, but I can't think of any other leads." "If the robots are after us, than he's safer not being around us, but I doubt he'd be able to get far without someplace to go..." Annienal pondered about their situation, knowing she was running out of time. "Please, just...I can flee Eubric. It's clearly far more dangerous than I anticipated. Just...just let me go." Keliim started to prepare that the walls maybe would soon blow in, so he drank a Mead. He looked, searhing for a way to escape. "Hows do we get to th' roof then? I say, we get him out of this buildin' an' then thinkst 'bout what to do to him!" "This way, I think..." The party returned to the staircase and continued up its multiple flights until reaching the top of the building, where they went up a ladder and onto the chilly rooftop. Chalvo lagged behind the group, almost resigned to his fate. Avina turned and locked the exit behind them. "We can continue along this row of rooftops, but that still leaves the question of the old man. We have plenty of time to decide what happens to him, I doubt the machines can even go up ladders. I'm still not convinced he even deserves his freedom, but I suppose it's your decision, heroes."
Scubacarrot Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 "I say we let him go. Killing him serves no real purpose. And it'd be better to have a possible favour out there in the world somewhere, wouldn't it?" "It's not like I have a soultrap prepared, anyhow."
Kintobor Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 "I say we let him go. I know you have your opinions, Avina, but now's not the time for bloodshed. We need to deal with the Eubric Knight before he becomes more of a threat, and killing him does not serve that purpose." Annienal states. "Besides, I don't want to stick around here to fight anymore robots... they're kind of intimidating..." She hoped her words would allow Avina to at least focus on the task and not her grudges. "It's not like I have a soultrap prepared, anyhow." "Um, this may be hypocritical of me, but it's rude to mumble Calamity." Annienal told Calamity. She wasn't sure what she said, but knowing her it was nothing good.
Mencot Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) "We let him go an' as he says himself, let him leave Eubric... start over somewhere else." He looks back at the old man and says "an'never return here!" "U'Reeka was killed in an ancient forge in the city of Nu Mercution, deep beneath Eubric. CMP Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 I'd like each person to bold their final answer, and I'm kind of delaying the next update until Emjajoas can get his say in.
Emjajoas Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 "We let him go. He's no good to anyone dead," Mortimer states, nodding at the old man. "And he's not our loose end to tie up. Let's move."

Let's move." "...Very well." She shoots a sideways look at Chalvo. "Be glad the heroes are in charge. Get out of our sight, and don't return." "Of course. Thank you heroes, a thousand times - I will never forget what you've done for me." He slowly lowered himself off the edge of the building, dropping down onto the next rooftop. By the time the heroes followed, Chalvo was gone. They continued down the row of run-down buildings, moving along the rooftops like a band of assassins as the moon began to rise over Eubric. Eventually, they dropped back onto the streets, with the automatons nowhere in sight. "Well....I suppose that's that, then. The exit we used to get out of the forge in Nu Mercution is outside the city, but it's not far off. Shall we go now? I'm sure I have U'Reeka's file somewhere...though I didn't think we'd need it again...."
Mencot Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I thinkst it sounds like a lead worth lookin' into!By th' way ofcourse our only lead. Keliim asks Mortimer as they walk, Whats thou remember 'bout that place, Nu Mercution?
Emjajoas Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) Mortimer shakes his head slowly, closing his eye. "I'm... not eager to return. The residents were nice enough, but..." His voice trails off as he opens his eye, hooking his thumbs on his belt as he strode forward, mouth pinched into a thin line. "If U'Reeka survived, I can only fear Selenrae did the same. I can still feel where she touched my mind sometimes. It was..." A shiver shoots up the Warden's spine, and he waves a hand at Keliim. "All I know is that we're going to be in deep. Be on your guards. Let's go." Edited September 26, 2015 by Emjajoas
