Ber Teh Unicern Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Thanks buddy, it is a wonderful moc anyhow and would look superb on my desk at work ! I will take html or any insturctions you have please about the construction of this superb snowspeeder. You are a master builder !! p.s I love that AT-AT 'head' in your signature too. Is there a link to that on eurobricks too as I would love to read about that! James There actually is one! It can be found here:http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=116276&hl= Quote

James Hi, I was looking at the generated instructions for the snowspeeder and it worse than I would allow to be published. The program is all over the place, with illogical steps and physically impossible floating pieces, which LDD is infamously known for, if some sub assemblies of the model are not group properly… If you are not in a rush, I would appreciate some time so I can polish up the model and the generated guide, for you and everyone else. Hold0511 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I built my one of your T47s via LDD (and its so so much better that the official lego one I've had to put that one back in the box to hide it away), but I'm used to the funny way LDD works - I find that if you get some floating parts either flick forwards to see where they join up later in the build (so park them until later) or exit and re-do the building guide - sometimes a second or third generated build guide works better than the first one. I think experience of LDD building helps a lot. Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 I built my one of your T47s via LDD (and its so so much better that the official lego one I've had to put that one back in the box to hide it away)… . Though you have to admit that some of their builds can be remarkably well structured—even to the point of being impressive. Anyway that is something I am working on for the wings today, a better structure, as they can break apart pretty easily since they are mostly bricks, as well as alternatives for rare or discontinued elements. I find that if you get some floating parts either flick forwards to see where they join up later in the build (so park them until later) or exit and re-do the building guide - sometimes a second or third generated build guide works better than the first one. I think experience of LDD building helps a lot. Indeed on all of those points. However, in this situation where LOBOT-OMY does not have access to LDD, building from the HTML could be quite difficult; especially if there is not the luxuries of the ability to adjust the camera on the model or the animation of the bricks falling into place. With designing the generated instructions for the sections of my AT-AT, I so much have had great success in manipulating the program so that the building guide comes out coherent as possible. So it is certainly doable, but it just takes diligence. Quote
Hold0511 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Yes thats a good shout if your stuck with the HMTL guide only....cant wait to see your updates - its an excuse to build another one! Quote
TheBeeze Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 I know this is old, but this looks awesome. The level of detail is astounding. I am curious if anyone has ever rendered one of these in tan? I'm working on a project for something else featuring ships of different colors and camouflaging them and such. I thought one of these in Tan would look fantastic in a Tatooine type setting. If someone has the Designer file and can post an image of this one in tan, that'd be appreciated. Quote
Ber Teh Unicern Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) It sounds and looks awesome! I would post a pic, but my laptop is broken and it is in getting fixed so I have to use a crap computer, so I am sending an LDD file. Rebel Sandspeeder.lxf Do not worry, I will send a pic once I get my laptop back. Edited June 22, 2016 by Ber Teh Unicern Quote

Hold0511 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Looks cool - doubt you could get the bricks in real life but it looks very Desert Storm... Quote

Arthur Schopenhauer Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) Gorgeous MOC. I love the way you were able to recreate the feeling of compactness and, at the same time, the streamlined outline of the original movie model! Many solutions, like that for the radiator in the back, are so "simple" and yet so ingenious Edited June 22, 2016 by Arthur Schopenhauer Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Gorgeous MOC. I love the way you were able to recreate the feeling of compactness and, at the same time, the streamlined outline of the original movie model! Many solutions, like that for the radiator in the back, are so "simple" and yet so ingenious Thank you. Though the radiator in the back, or the heatsink, was originally designed by someone named Larry Lars whom this is his Snowspeeder, though I advise you to NOT leave a comment there since the topic is old. Anyway, in wake of restructuring some areas of my Snowspeeder, I have come to disfavor Lars design, because of how puzzling difficult it can be to build, as well how fragile it can be. Before, when I was designing this model, I was wildly over obsessed with getting the details accurate as possible, even if it meant being poorly structured, resulting in a fragile. However, since redesigning and restructuring my AT-AT as well, I have grown out of that obsession, and find it most enjoyable when the build has a pleasing balance between details and structure. In this direction, I want to see if I can implement ecmo47's design for the vanes of the heatsink (or radiator). Here is his below: DSC01200 by Scott Roys, on Flickr Though I will make a few alterations to it, like I have done before: Edited June 23, 2016 by LiLmeFromDaFuture Quote
Kalais Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Simply the best LEGO snowspeeder i've seen. Great job! Quote
ecmo47 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Glad that you found my design useful! I may have to update my speeders to the rest of your design. Speaking of fragile, that white slope 75 2x1x3 on the back of the wings looks very precarious since it's only being held by only one stud connection on the 1x2 brick with axle hole. You could replace the 1x4 tile on the wing edge with a 1x4 plate and then use the tile on top of that (moved over one stud) to tie together the top of the slope 75. Finish off with a cheese slope and 1x1 tile. Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Thats looking good. Glad that you found my design useful! I may have to update my speeders to the rest of your design. Finish off with a cheese slope and 1x1 tile. Oh, I apologies for causing the confusion, as those pictures that I uploaded came from a while back, when my model was still in WIP phase (page 2, post #34). Back then when I made the switch to Lars' design, it was because more vanes could be crammed in there (which a part of my obsession for accuracy). However, in light of updating my Snowspeeder again, I realized how difficult it would be for someone else to reconstruct Lars' heatsink and how fragile it is… Then I remembered your design and why I fell in love with it in the first place; the concise use of the panels was so simple yet most effective, and especially eye catching since they feature rounded corners (like the studio models). Thank you again ecmo for your design, and I will still be sure to lookout for any pieces only hanging by a stud or two! Edited June 23, 2016 by LiLmeFromDaFuture Quote

LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Tried to download the lxf-file for this gorgeous model, but it gives me an error atm? Yeah, the attachment links keep breaking for some odd reason—Oky has made a topic explaining his experience of the same issue (though I did not read anything about Eurobricks resolving this). The file that is up there now, which is currently broken, is of the old version which can be quite fragile in reality, but I am almost finish with the updates that I promised to accomplished to improve the build, and I will upload the file soon after. Quick question, what does the Boba Fett helmet tag signify? Edited June 23, 2016 by LiLmeFromDaFuture Quote

atlas Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Weird, using panel pieces instead of tiles looks too sparse in my opinion. Looking good overall though (: Quote
