November 22, 20159 yr Correct, it's not Technic but it does make me wonder what level of functionality an official Technic version will have. A rotating bucket wheel with lots of buckets that can actually "dig" and drop it's load onto a conveyor can only be built so small. So to have that functionality the whole model would have to be very large. Can TLG justify such a large model of a BWE? As much as I love to see them making something new as opposed to yet another crane truck or whatever, I assume a BWE is not as recognisable to kids as a fire truck or an excavator. We may have to accept that it won't have that level of functionality to avoid disappointment, but I hope I am wrong. Edited November 22, 20159 yr by allanp
November 22, 20159 yr A BWE is the ugliest machine I've ever looked at, I have no idea how this could become an appealing set ... apart from the technic inside. It certainly will look ugly when put on display.
November 22, 20159 yr I wouldn't be surprised if there is no BWE, and all this is a result of confusion caused by the wheeled excavator and bucket wheel excavator names being so close. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, and a BWE doesn't sound that enticing to me. I'd much rather se the Xerion or Volvo as the $200 set.

I emailed TLG support months ago asking how big the BWE will be compared to the Crawler Crane. They said they couldn't answer but they did confirm there will be a 42055 BWE.
November 22, 20159 yr S***** me! I was refering to another video: That't what happens when you don't look at your post after you post it. Edited November 22, 20159 yr by Kaanere
November 22, 20159 yr Author They are probably targeting german market because world most biggest BWEs came from this country. They probably know if there is viable market for such as "crazy" machinery.Maybe its ugly but I smell some building challenge. There can be lots of function, probably it will be very similar to this year crawler crane in term of gearbox.
November 22, 20159 yr But seriously ... even if it's an amazing building challenge, do I want to spend such an amount of money on an ugly looking end-result?
November 22, 20159 yr Author But seriously ... even if it's an amazing building challenge, do I want to spend such an amount of money on an ugly looking end-result? I actually want to buy it, Im obsessed with these earth moving machines.I only hope that is not RC, I dont like RC sets.Already 232 afols want to buy this set on brickset, is third in popularity for 2H but is great score for such "ugly" machinery.First is volvo with 263 afols, second xerion with 247.
November 22, 20159 yr Yeah, a BWE could be a great set. I just hope they can justify a big fully featured one.
November 22, 20159 yr and in 2016 H2 which one is the flagship ? Volvo, Xerion or BWE ? Edited November 22, 20159 yr by AOW
November 22, 20159 yr To me they look like orange, especially when compared the 2L red axle used for the seat, which appear with the same angle to the viewer. i believe they are Bright Light Orange...like the 3L axle seen in the recent Wall-E set. the dragster looks pretty substantial, fair amount of parts....around the 500 part count. if its 50 Euro then not a bad parts pack. I saw today the LEGO City 2016 garbage truck on Brickset and amazed by how Technic it is. JANGBRICKS has a review of it up...looks superb.
November 23, 20159 yr I think BWEs look cool too, perhaps they might have an unfinished look or something, but I don't mind. I'm really curious to see how this will turn out.
November 23, 20159 yr and in 2016 H2 which one is the flagship ? Volvo, Xerion or BWE ? How about all 3 of them

November 23, 20159 yr I can't believe that anyone wants to say that a bucket wheel excavator is not something that is cool to look at. Now, I'm not going to deny that they are pretty ugly machines, but they are actually beautiful in their own way, an unfettered expression of technology and form following function. From that standpoint, they are perfect models for Technic, with all the mechanics on display. Personally, I would find it a fascinating model, to trace each function, and observe them in action. From that standpoint, it is just as good as a model car. I welcome it, especially because it is an unusual model for Technic.
November 23, 20159 yr If there is a BWE, you can work out the approximate size because it will use the clamshell buckets from the Arocs. TLG won't introduce a new bucket part with that profile for 2015, and then use one of the older bucket parts for a similar role in 2016. It gives the width at least. Other factors are the diameter of the wheel, how many buckets etc.
November 23, 20159 yr TLG introduce 3 new molds for 2015 year flagship. Why they cant introduce new mold for 2016? I dont think they will introduce smaller conveyer, so it may be another reference point. BWE will need at least 2 conveyers at least same size.
November 23, 20159 yr Author and in 2016 H2 which one is the flagship ? Volvo, Xerion or BWE ? BWE is regular flagship with price 220€, there is ultimate ip car something like technic UCS with price around 300€. TLG introduce 3 new molds for 2015 year flagship. Why they cant introduce new mold for 2016? I dont think they will introduce smaller conveyer, so it may be another reference point. BWE will need at least 2 conveyers at least same size. Probably they use bulldozer chain lnks for conveyor, I dont see problem in this .
November 23, 20159 yr Author Ondra silly question, what UCS stands for? It came from star wars line, but usage is widely around lego themes it stands for "ultimate collector series".It means something bigger, pricier and complex also realistic.http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Ultimate_Collector's_Series Edited November 23, 20159 yr by Ondra
