Now can I get a helpful answer?

Sorry, it is just that you can go through all 45 pages of the 42056 Porsche Thread, and not find anything new. It is just that I have given up. And all I will do now is wait. Seems like news will never come. :sceptic:

Three licensed sets in one year. Wow. I hope this leads to more licensed stuff next year. It'd be great if LEGO designed something with license from American companies like Caterpillar as well.

Is that including the upcoming Lego Ideas sets? Because if not then you can add two more to that list.

Yes, the Technic Discussion is including Lego Ideas....

What I meant was that Maaboo35 said "Three licensed sets in one year." So I assume he means the Volvo, Porsche, and the Xerion. So I just mean that you can also add the Ideas AT, and Super Seven. For a total of 5 Licensed Sets in one year. I know those are not Technic. But I was just reinforcing the statement.

I don't know that Caterpillar would pass TLG's ethics committee...

(I don't wish to derail the thread, so if anyone genuinely wants to know more feel free to PM me.)

In short, because they have a long history of advertising and selling armoured bulldozers to militaries and in conflict zones. The most high profile case is the Israeli military using them to flatten Palestinian homes.

Given TLG's usual avoidance of weapons and military machinery, I imagine they might steer clear.

You're right though, the vast majority of the time we just see a familiar brand and think of cool yellow machines.

You do realize that most automotive manufactures have sold vehicles for military purposes through out history and Lego doesn't seam to have a problem with that, seams a bit of a stretch in the Caterpillar case. It would be like Toyota being snubbed for their trucks being used in war torn areas. I am sure Volvo would do the same if their Country was supporting Israel the way that the US is.

Fair enough, was just a suggestion as to why they might not show up in Lego - but that's a question for TLG, not me! Let's leave it there and get back on topic.

Well guys. I have bought 42048, and I'm considering buying another good 1H set, so I'd be happy to hear about your recommendations.

Thank you in advance!

That's a good set you've chosen! If you're looking for a really good set, the 42052 helicopter might be worth a look. So far, though, the only '16 set I have is the 42049 Mine Loader, and I only chose that because it's a yellow mining vehicle; your mileage might vary on that one.

Ultimately, it's up to you. Check out some videos and see what you like the look of. :classic:

Everyone seems to have a decent reasoning on the anti military licensing crisis but in saying it they made sets like the Sopwith camel (a plane that killed thousands of people ) so CAT indeed seems possible but not with out a push TLG got a push for the volvo because a set designer new someone at Volvo and the Acrocs because of past partnerships on the unimog . The Porsche brand name has been featured in Lego with Speed champions and as far as I know TLG has pretty much ripped off claas directly with all there lime and red so 5 licensed confirmed sets by late March seem justified .

On the axles strategy everything seems expected as stated we have had axle color changes in the past with the 2L notched axle ( Black to Red ) and other color changes too allthough I must note that changing a part to a whole new color for slight color matching is not a phenomenon that happens to often at TLG so there is probably many more reasons perhaps moving away from LBG / black as a heavily used color .

On the Porsche your dead right but the porsche shall most likely remain silent until something biggg drops maybe final design Parts list ? or something that will probably be in a month or a bit but who knows .

Looks like im not even bother with 1H this year but just keep saving for 2H ( although the volvo does not appeal at first glance )

just my random thoughts -

Regarding the use of red and yellow axles:

I'm now building the 42052 (Heavy Lift Helicopter) mostly from parts out of my own stock and see no reason to use red and yellow axles.

Most of them are invisible in the build model.

It saved me some Bricklinking and some money. :classic:

Mercedes cars were used in 2WW by Nazis, Ferdinand Porsche was friend with Hitler. So get over it...

Some might argue there's a difference between historical actions and ongoing ones. Anyway, the point was that given TLG's usual avoidance of weaponry, war machines, etc, they might choose to leave out the likes of Cat in order to avoid a potential controversy. Or they might not - it's up to them.

(And in my book, human rights violations are a good thing not to get over, lest they propagate :classic:)

I wouldn't blame them if they didn't license CAT, look at the SW Jabba's palace set....

That was exactly my thought. In this modern day and age, it is very difficult to remain neutral and yet rely on known brands. The simplest example I can think of is the Octan brand that TLG came up with so as not to support any oil companies out there who have always had a love/hate relationship with the public at large. Tough to strike a neutral balance when at the same time you want a recognizable brand, yet a reputable high ethics corporation. I have not seen any lego set depicting Coca Cola ... is that because of South Africa ? There was a time where people were urged to boycott CocaCola because of their apparent support of apartheid ... see, this could drag on and on.

Wonder what the B-model for the Airport Rescue Vehicle was going to be. Maybe an off-roader like the 2003 version?

Is the Airport Rescue Vehicle back? I thought it had been cancelled.
