I was of the assumption that the IP Car would somehow work in the Tumbler tyres, just because they aren't likely to come in any other 2016 sets (Claas Xerion maybe?), but new wheels would be appreciated. Doubly so if they put the mounting holes on the outer edge of the wheel so the steering pivot can be inside the wheel like it should be...

Didn't someone mention that they were on the new dragster?

I drive a sub compact tractor, and the rear wheels are literally just bigger versions of those, so I could see them using those on the Xerion

The question is in which language the model names are intended. Seeing as Claas manufacture tractors internationally, I would assume their model names is intended towards that as well.

In any case, I think Zerion and for that matter Zylon sounds the best.

I think the Bucket Wheel Excavator will be in the same league with 42009, 42030 and 42043. It will have at least 2000 pieces and cost about 160 EUR / 230$. While the IP Car will be much bigger and cost much more; perhaps it is intended explicitly for buyers older than 16. In which case the Bucket Wheel Excavator can be called "flagship" and the IP Car "super flagship".

That's some fairly huge speculation. It could still turn out to be true, though...

Could be true... even if the bucket wheel excavator will be more in the same league as the blue crawler crane. And then we have 2 licensed sets, and none of them is a flagship! strange year to come!

Let's wait for the UIPCar!

I'm thinking the same as you!

I disagree, my guess is that the bucket wheel excavator will have a similar scale as the 8288 crawler crane.Large machine, small scale so I would expect a part count in the range of 600 to 800 pieces with the same tracks as the 8288. In my opinion, the functionality of the real machine (spin bucket wheel, raise boom, rotate super structure, drive and conveyor belt) is just too limited to justify a large set. The only question then is what the bucket wheel would look like on that scale.

According to the information I found, the track piece in 8288 has not been used since 2010. Besides, 42042 has less functions than those of a Bucket Wheel Excavator (rotate, drive, raise boom, winch, manual grabber), yet it is somehow justified enough to be quite big. Your scenario doesn't sound much likely.

On another note I tried contacting Lego Customer Service and asked them how big is the BWE compared to the 42042. They said they can't answer (which is not unexpected haha) but they did confirm there will be a 42055 BWE.

The track parts used in the 8288 appeared this year, actually, in 42032 Tracked Loader. They've also appeared in several sets since 2010, including 9391 and 42023. There's a slight difference in the basic design - a moulding mark - but they're more or less the same part.

My bad then. I take back the comment the about popularity of that track piece.

Yes you're right, but rethinking my words, I meant playability more that the number of functions. Remember that a some of the functions of the 8288 like slewing and driving where not "actuated", meaning that there wasn't a knob or lever to power these functions manual. The 42042 thanks its size to the fact it is a PF set.

I see it happening every time a (Technic) rumour starts, everybody is wishing and daydreaming for all the rumoured sets to be PF and RC powered flagships and that is certainly part of the fun. But the drawback is that a lot of AFOLS are subsequently disappointed when most turn out to be manual powered small or medium sized sets. I tried being a bit more realistic with my guess, because based on releases of past years, the probability is high that a lot of the rumoured sets will be medium or even small sets.

But anyway, at this point anybody could be right.

EDIT: Maybe it is mentioned previously, but is there any significance in the numbering of sets? I mean, how certain can we claim that the 42053 will be a smaller set than the 42054, meaning that the 42055 wheel bucket excavator is expected to be the biggest set of next years 1H or 2H release?

According to my observation, within a wave in a year (1H wave or 2H wave), generally a set's size has a positive correlation with its number.

Hi all. I'm new AFOL here and this is my first post and I chosen it to be here, in my favorite topic :classic:

I enjoyed reading some posts and still reading more.

I hope for a Blue flagship next year, the last flagship colors were boring gray and before that all yellow. From the pictures at the first page I wish the ultimate car to be the flagship.

I also hope for new innovation in functions and mechanisms.

And I wish you all pleasant LegoTechnic-ing :sweet:

The UIPC is more than a flagship, it's a 300€ one! And for the topic of colour, the 24H racer had a fairly cool color scheme.

Well, that's the current rumour. We have no proof of that yet. I hope it's true though.

I believe there was a 300€ set on the list in the retailers catalogue, no photos, no name with a meaning...
